Do you mean South Illinois Salukis?

Do you mean Southern Illinois University Salukis?

FYI: a Saluki is basically a small greyhound.
The more you know…

Actually they're the same size they just have longer hair.
I know this cuz I was raised minutes away from SIU's campus. I underaged partied when I was in high school on the strip in Carbondale.

Yeah. Long day.

MSU is so disappointing , Can we transfer TUCK to the west so he can win a game or two. He is embarrassing the East. GO TO HELL TIUCK
As mental state said if not for the 107 holds on UW which the refs missed MSU does not embarrass our conference and wins by 150.
September 17th, 2022 at 11:57 PM ^
I can live with this particular disappointment.

Northwestern looked really ugly today.
September 17th, 2022 at 11:35 PM ^
Nebraska is really regretting the move to the B1G.
September 18th, 2022 at 12:02 AM ^
Counterpoint. They get enough money from the move to hire and then buyout Scott Frost.
September 18th, 2022 at 5:39 AM ^
If they had stayed in the Big XII wouldn’t they still have been annihilated by fellow conference member Oklahoma yesterday?
September 18th, 2022 at 8:21 PM ^
Correct.
September 18th, 2022 at 9:18 AM ^
Three of those teams that left the Big XII - Colorado, Mizzou and Nebraska - currently suck at football and Texas A&M hasn't won anything in the SEC despite a lot of buzz. I can only think of one team (Utah) that has really benefitted from a P5 conference switch. Realignment has mostly benefitted incumbents that preserved traditional rivalries.
September 18th, 2022 at 9:26 AM ^
And Utah didn’t switch P5 conferences but moved up from the G5.
September 18th, 2022 at 9:27 AM ^
They ran out of town 2 decent coaches and then hired a douche. I think the fan base is more responsible for the collapse than joining the BigTen.
Plus Nebraska itself is not a hotbed of talent.

I think it’s good we’re facing a 3-0 Maryland team next week. We’ve pretty much faced 3 high school level quarterbacks. We need to see how our defense looks against a QB who isn’t immediately deer in the headlights.
Go Blue! Beat Maryland!
September 17th, 2022 at 11:58 PM ^
JJ v. Taulia should be a fun back and forth QB battle. I know Tagovailoa is gonna make plays, but our defense will be more stout and come up with more stops. This will be JJ’s chance to prove something against a defense with a pulse.
September 18th, 2022 at 10:06 AM ^
Maryland threw for 214 and 2 tds against SMU, the QB from SMU threw for 369 yrs 3 tds and 2 intercepts, with the final being 34 to 27 Maryland, SMU also rushed for 151 yrds. . Looks like Maryland can move the ball, but their defense looks average
September 17th, 2022 at 11:55 PM ^
It’s so satisfying to see MSU at the bottom of the standings. They’ll probably still be there next week after their game against Minnesota, who coincidentally look like the top contenders in the West.
September 17th, 2022 at 11:59 PM ^
Yeah, this might be Fleck's best team there. They're running the ball like the Mason teams - and actually seem to play defense.
September 18th, 2022 at 10:11 AM ^
Should be interesting. The way to beat State is to throw downfield, the pass defense is awful. State can throw the football and have some really good receivers. Good defense, throw downfield, beat State

Illinois
September 18th, 2022 at 2:11 AM ^
If they were undefeated I would agree but that pathetic loss to Indiana got me questioning how good they really are
September 18th, 2022 at 6:38 AM ^
Tuck Bummin!
September 18th, 2022 at 8:01 AM ^
The Western division champion this year could legitimately finish 8-4.
The divisions need to be done away with, or the very least, be completely recalibrated once USC/UCLA show up. It’s a complete joke that the crumb bums from the West automatically get a seat in Indy. There’s a reason they haven’t won once since the divisions were redone.
September 18th, 2022 at 8:22 AM ^
The West has always been mediocre and it's unlikely to change this year - Purdue may well be the best team in that division and they're 1-2. I don't buy Wisconsin or Minnesota as being more than okay.
September 18th, 2022 at 8:53 AM ^
Yes we know big Ten west bad, big ten east good. I don’t like state but that is not an easy game and Washington looked good. Until we actually play them and win I will keep my mouth shut.
September 18th, 2022 at 1:19 PM ^
I went to Michigan B-school and met a couple of undergrads from Northwestern and know some here out here in the bay area as well, along with Purdue and Wisconsin. And they know the big 10 west is pretty bad this year, but at the risk of generalizing, fans at most of the big-10 west colleges don't really follow the sports teams unless they're winning. It's not like these colleges don't have school spirit though, they definitely do. But in football anyway I think the big-10 thought Nebraska and Wisconsin would provide some of the balance.
