Beginning of Off Topic Season POSBANG Thread! [Winners Announced!]
As most of you know, the off topic season is reserved for "after football season" on MGoBlog. After some confusion about whether football season ended after The Game, or whether it ends after the Outback Bowl, I emailed Brian and got a response saying that off topic is now fine. Before we get to the posbanging, I do have a refresher for everyone who has been around off topic season before, and news for all the new members.
- An off topic post is anything other than: Michigan athletics, scheduled opponents or Big Ten sports, the blog itself and University of Michigan topics. The gray area is NCAA sports in general and Ann Arbor topics. None of these require an "OT:" tag, and titles may be edited as needed; please keep titles and tags as clear as possible.
- Threads about any of the following are likely to be deleted and may result in Bolivia/bans: politics, religion, Drew Sharp, Mike Valenti, Ace Williams. Tread very carefully with Bleacher Report. If in doubt, it's probably not a good post.
- On topic season may still go back into effect before fall, but there will be an update posted before that happens.
profitgoblue and I are offering a 100 point prize to the funniest user-created comment in this thread. Extra consideration goes to new content, funny .gifs videos, and especially mspaint/photoshopping, but we reserve all rights to determine a winner in our sole discretion and all rights to send people who post inappropriate items to Bolivia for the holidays. (You may be asking yourself at this point whether Kate Upton pics/gifs inappropriate . . . you will likely soon find out!) The prize will be decided by the two of us with plenty of crowd input, [ed] and will be up for grabs throughout the afternoon.
The winner of the 100 point prize is...BlueReign, for his mortar gif (according to profit) and his rhino gif (my pick). Enjoy the 167% point bump. ChopBlock gets 50 points as a runner up for his original photoshop. Honorable mention goes to WisconsinWolverine, but profit and I felt he was already a winner for this post yesterday.

Certainly she approves.
So, because my 19 year old daughter has used my laptop lately, I always have Victoria's Secret banner ads popping up on my mgoblog screen. Some of those are borderline nsfw. Even though there aren't any I've seen of Kate.

StephenRKass: Can you link us to the original post where the NSFMrsK thing originated?
December 12th, 2012 at 3:27 PM ^
It took me a while to find it, but here is the original post (proof that nothing on the internet is every deleted): http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/please-avoid-nsfw-or-home-pics-posts
And here is the followup: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/metaot-epic-stupid-nsfw-post
Part of the problem was putting up the post late on a Saturday night. It became the one time when lots and lots and lots of pictures and links and boobs went into an mgoblog thread. I don't think it was possible to edit the thread without removing almost all of it.
FTR, between self-policing and the moderators, I haven't noticed a problem for a long time. Or maybe I just am not at mgoblog as often. I dunno. I don't like the kate upton one with the honky tonk version of the Victors, but the problem is the music, not the video.
I do think the consensus at mgoblog is not to become RCMB with lots of huge pics. The goal is for the blog to be accessible anywhere: at work or Starbucks or in the den with the kids or wherever.

That thread was one of the most fun times I've had on this site.
And two things, Mr. Kass. First, despite how hilarious that thread was and how much fun it was to participate in, I think most people here actually did agree with your sentiment. As you just said, people generally don't want the board to turn into a bunch of boob pictures a la Touch the Banner's front page (I kid, I kid...a little). Second, kudos for always having a good attitude about it. You catch your fair share of good-natured teasing, and you always take it in stride. Shouldn't be noteworthy, but this is the internet.
And just for old time's sake, here's a picture that is not safe for anyone's home.

Yeah, it was fun, in a horrifying way. I remember that night, and the sinking feeling with the responses. Probably the best way to describe it is to watch the GIF of the football bouncing off of our kicker Hagerup's helmet. Or hear the echo Darth Vader shouting "Nooooooo!!!!" But by the time you have that feeling, it's too late. Sigh. It was fun, even if at my expense.
Oh, and regarding "Touch the Banner," Magnus can post whatever he wants, and he sometimes has great info, but I'm careful when I go to that site.

Not sure why you're attempting to insult me in a Posbang, but in case you didn't know, "Blockhams with Dicks" actually exists, or existed, and caused a bit of an interesting reaction around these parts.

Somehow I missed that. And the only reason I am not going to google it is... well... it should be obvious. (I'm at work, and if I were at home my wife might have questions)
December 12th, 2012 at 2:33 PM ^
In times like that, I like to google it from my least favorite coworkers computer while they are at lunch.
December 12th, 2012 at 3:59 PM ^
If by "an interesting reaction" you mean "everyone realized that it was the greatest thing ever," I'd have to agree with you.

I know it is only a cartoon, but that is a completely unbelievable Spartan fan. No Sparty would use (or even be familiar with half of the words in) the phrase, "...a potent cocktail of self-loathing..."

For the first time in Mgoblog history, we might see every mutilple post get pos banged instead of negged as redundant. In this case, I'm cool with that. Mutilple posts as a result of spilled coffee, consider youself trumped. Meanwhile..

What if Ace Williams, Valenti, and Sharp have a roundtable discussion about separation of church and state? Could we start an OT thread about that?

Section 1 would be the only one with authority to initiate the thread.
