If his ceiling is a "poor man's Franz" then I'm pretty excited about the pickup. Someone who can potentially be a contributor in the fall, but in all likelihood is a 2-3 year contributor to the team (similar to Franz).

Also great pickup, if not for the sole reason of ending the "Emoni to UM" talk.

Welcome Youssef!

Franz finished his career at Michigan as the best player on an Elite Eight team. He was a high lottery draft pick and a dark horse contender for NBA rookie of the year.  "Poor mans Franz" wasn't even close to being a slight on Youssef.

As for "better shooter and all around better offensive player"... I think maybe pump the brakes a bit? There's so little that we know right now. Get him on campus and let's start hearing those "this kid is legit" rumors out of practice (ala Franz) and then maybe I'll start popping the champs with you.  :)

Fran’s Wagner is one of the best overall shooters in Michigan basketball history over the last 30 years or more. He was average at 3pt range, but he was very good midrange to the basket—two things we missed a lot last year with wing guys who couldn’t finish anywhere near the rim most games. Dude shot 61% or something from 2pt.

He was streaky, but also had that wrist injury. I think some people just like to say he wasn’t a good offensive player because of the bad last game.

I put Franz in my top 5 overall M players since I started watching more than 30 years ago, and a top 10 scorer.

I think you meant top 5 favorite players, not overall players. Based on his performance in college, Franz was not even as good as his brother Mo. In the last 30 years, the program has had Rose, Howard, Webber, Burke, Stauskas (BIG POY), Mo Wagner, Tim Hardaway Jr, Livers, all of them were better players at Michigan than Franz. And, due to the scandal, I left Bullock and Mo Taylor off the list. I think you are mistaking potential for performance. Franz could do a lot of things on a basketball court. However, each player listed above performed better than Franz.

This young man is not a "poor man" to anyone. Offensively, his tape is better than Franz' tape-coming in. I don't see any tape that is more "whole game" to assess his defense and larger game abilities. This young man is a 5***** talent-a terrific young player.

I just read the On3 write-up linked in the OP and I'm loving what I'm reading.

Great pickup by Coach Howard and his staff.

Welcome to Michigan Basketball Youssef!!

Watching tape on this kid, I really like his game. I’m of the mindset that Jett will take at least 2 years before he goes pro, so these two and Buffkin next year have me really excited items about our wing play

Very good player and a great complementary skillset for this roster.  Hopefully the ability of of Youssef, Jett and Llewellyn will turn outside shooting into a strength vs last year’s weakness.

Welcome to A2, Youssef.

My favorite thing about Yo-Yo is how he uses his length. There are some players who are 6'10" but play much smaller, but he uses his length as a wing super effectively. Excited to see how he can develop

Feels like another player who can thrive in a positionless basketball world.  Versatility is an underrated skillset.

Lebanese hashish.  Smooth and blondish in color.   Better than ty-stick.   So all in all I'd say excellent choice by the player and M.  Maybe a silkier version of Nicky S?   Big ten titles and later rounds of the ncaas are now in our collective future.
