Per Barry Alvarez, Full Schedule Out This Week: All Teams Will Play 8 Games + 1
Barry Alvarez has stated that they will release a schedule later this week, but that each team will play 8 games plus 1.
In addition to the B1G Championship, each team will be paired with their counterpart in the other division (East 2 vs West 2 and so on) and those games will be played the same week as the B1G Championship.
They've essentially made it so there will be a 3rd place, 4th place, etc..
I love it.

Love the idea. If there are no bowls, or very few, this is much better than what would otherwise be an anticlimactic season's end.

So effectively, every team gets 9 games. Besides the CFB playoffs, will there be regular bowl games? If so, a B1G team could get 10 games this season. Fantastic.
Heck, I would take one Michigan football game this season and be content. 1 > 0. Cant fight the math.

Is there a point to playing regular bowl games if you can't have fans and all the activities are shut down?
What fun is playing in the Outback Bowl if the dinner competition is done via curbside takeout?

The fun is obvious....you get to watch one more Michigan football game this season. I'll take every game I can get. #GoBlue

True. I guess I'm wondering if we need to go all the way to Florida. I wouldn't mind playing an SEC or ACC team away from their footprint.

From a team improvement perspective, the bowl practices are a big deal. If no bowl game, wondering if they will still afford all teams the opportunity to have "bowl" practices?

I love it. That’s straight out of MHSAA football.

Hopefully they don't allow rematches from the 2 cross-divisional games (except for the Championship).
No one want to see a second Illinois-Rutgers game; could easily switch 2 teams in one division to create a new matchup and more variety in the schedule

That's a really good point. If say the east goes OSU, UM, PSU and the west goes Minn, Wisc, Iowa and Michigan had played Wisconsin during the season (which I assume we will) it would be nice to have UM / Iowa and UW / PSU as the final week games.

That's a pretty cool idea.

I can't wait for 0-8 Rutgers vs likely 1-7 Northwestern/Purdue. That game screams a Noon Start with Beth Mullins doing play-by-play

Any night games?!

I always struggle with who to invite as my plus one.

Do statues make you look thinner?

Looks like they gave him iron pecs and a decent set of abs under that shirt. lol

That's a lot of bronze. Do fat statues cost more, I wonder?

Those pants need a good pressing.

Am I the only one that would like this to continue in non-pandemic years? A regular schedule of 9 conference games, 2 non conference games, and a "Big Ten Challenge" week could be cool. I'd much rather watch that than waste a third non conference game on the likes of Middle Tennessee State. You could do Friday/Saturday full slate of games culminating in a Saturday night championship game. Plus, a side benefit that we've seen with the CFP and bowl selection, it seems like there's been some recency bias in the past years so something like this could also help in that regard.

Might be cool if they did two neutral sites for these games. One with two games Friday and the Championship game Saturday and the other with two Friday and two Saturday.

So do all games in the State of Michigan require players to wear a face covering ? ... is it a15 yard penalty for not wearing a mask or is it considered targeting :)
September 16th, 2020 at 12:43 PM ^
What isn't considered targeting in college football?

That's actually really sweet!

I'll hold my excitement until they release the schedule. We seemed to get hosed every time a "new and improved" one is released while another team, that shall remain nameless, gets to eat cupcakes.
