Bama gets way more practice time than Clemson

Submitted by superstringer on

This rule is going to screw with us next year, when we make the 15th game of the season.

Apparently, Alabama has unlimited practice time for the Jan. 11 game -- whereas, Clemson is limited to 4 hours a day, 20 hours a week (other than today and tomorrow).  The NCAA limits practice to 20 hours per week during the semester.  Clemson's semester starts Wednesday.  But Alabama's doesn't start until Jan. 13, AFTER the big game, so Alabama has no limitations on practice.

(Yes, bleacher report, but, it's not an opinion, it's a news item.)

Ahhh, the NCAA.  Just another reason to hate it even more.

I'm not under the impression that any of these rules are actually followed. If the positions were flipped, Alabama would just ignore the rule and we would all expect them to. I'd be surprised if Clemson wasn't practicing just as much as they want. It's not the kind of place that has a Rosenberg or Snyder lurking around anyway, so what's to stop them?

The only people that actually care about practice minutes are Michigan fans and alums who observed an assassination attempt on Michigan football. Does anyone, literally anyone, else really care?

These guys are not beating themselves up in practice this week... would be surprised if their full pad days were even 50%. Lots of walk through and situational work.

I wouldn't put Alabama above purposefully having that academic schedule for the sole purpose of allowing their football team the extra practice in the event they are in the title game. Likely written into Saban's contract before he signed.
