B1G Media Poll: Peppers Defensive POY
Another Big Ten media poll by the Cleveland Plain Dealer: Jabrill Pepper is the preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Three Michigan players in the top 8. We might be good this year.

Not if it's ice, smart guy
That's some pretty dry humor.

But I think Jourdan Lewis is the better defender and more important to our success as a defense. Don't get me wrong, I think Jabrill is the best athlete on the team and will be an amazing Sam in Don Brown's system. Buuutttt, I think he's getting extra credit for his offensive and special teams ability. Just to be clear, I think he's the best player in the B1G, just not the presumptive DPOY, that should go to Jourdan Lewis

Nobody gets tackled in July.
Metaphorically speaking...
And yes this is all hype, but college football is voted on all year long, so hype helps

It's value is like a pacifier. Just something to do unt the real thing is available.
CB play. there is a reason why Desmond King is highly regarded by the NFL scouts and it's not INT.

Not even a little love for De'Veon on the offensive side of that poll. I think that could be a big oversight this year.
there are better offensive players than De'Veon and he isn't their best offensive player on his own team

I'd peg Barrett, Clement, and Chesson (at a minimum) over De'Veon.
That being said, I want him to prove me wrong. I will be more than happy to have him make me look like a fool.

Yeah, I get it. It would definitely be going out on a limb. But if we have the type of season that many think we will have, it's quite possible that De'Veon puts up some eyeball-popping numbers. We'll see.
RUN THROUGH A MUHFUCKA FACE De'VEON!
Remember all those 7' BYU WR's?
TOUGH yards/carry last year.
:-)
I agree, though, he won't get votes for POY. He can't carry an offense, but his value is in being an integral part of the overall package on offense, with his ability to grind and grind and wear down opposing defenses, eventually breaking their collective will.

Yeah, I realize that polls like this are - in the end - an attempt to make the college football news cycle last all year, but I have to say that this and other positive predictions for Michigan and its players do help me make it through the offseason with a smile about what could be rather than an angsty sort of look. There is at least that.
Lewis at 5 and King at 2 seems off to me.
Desmond King is considered to be a 1st round prospcet while Lewis is considered to be a 2nd/3rd round prospect because the scouts viewed him as a nickel CB.

The entire defense.
Deveon had a tweaked ankle for the second half of the season imo. He was back healthy for the Fla game & ran roughshod. TW working with him payed off huge I think. Watch for one heck of a senior year from him.
Give Peppers the utmost credit for not bailing during the Hoke years.
