Time for Santa Ono to initiate talks with the ACC.

FWIW, here is the full 13-page letter from the B1G to Michigan. It reads in part:

Notably, the University’s November 8 response does not deny that the impermissible scheme occurred. Instead, it offers only procedural and technical arguments designed to delay accountability. The University also argues that because it believes that others are engaged in decoding signs, there must be nothing wrong with the University’s activities. In addition to impermissible activities of others being currently unsupported by facts, the University’s culpability is not dependent on the actions of other institutions.

OMFG are you kidding me???? Michigan has never denied the preponderance of evidence that exists proving Stalions involvement in a scheme of his own design and making, which is why he was suspended. Procedural and technical arguments matter as they are the framework for executing investigations and directing the application of institutional authority in a judicial manner. Of course they matter!!!! Stating that other programs are also involved is not for the sake of excusing the violations but for exposing the uneven application of institutional authority in this case.

Get a fucking clue Petitti!!!!

The official notice admits that they have no evidence Harbaugh knew or was involved. Michigan had pointed out that the policy does not allow punishment of individuals not personally implicated, so the Big Ten pathetically attempts to reframe the punishment as a punishment of Michigan, not Harbaugh.

The Big Ten's case is laughable.

As a penalty imposed on the institution, the University football team must compete without its Head Football Coach for the games remaining in the 2023 regular-season, effective immediately. This disciplinary action shall not preclude the University or its football team from having its Head Football Coach attend practices or other football team activities other than the game activities to which it applies. For clarity, the Head Football Coach shall not be present at the game venue on the dates of the games to which this disciplinary action applies.

A fucking cowardly, bush league move by Pettiti. To wait until the team already showed up at State College, after they already boarded the freaking plane.

He may be a great TV contract negotiator, but he's an all around coward who caved to an angry mob.

I hope Michigan's only response, other than submitting for a TRO, is "We'll see you in court."

M needs to, and will fire off everything they've got.  This is about to get really interesting.

IF M has what we've been hearing, and released it all, the BIG may never be the same again.  And I'm totally fine with that.  Conferences don't mean anything anymore - if I had any sway here I'd star the proceedings to move to the ACC as soon as possible.

It’s like Sam Webb has been saying these past few days. Tradition and loyalty are relics of the past. The Big Ten is not your family. They’re not your brothers in arms. They are business partners.

And what do you do when one of your business partners tries to stab you in the back? You go find new business partners.

So, I'm not aware of any policy that forbids Michigan from publicly addressing this unlike the bullshit one way NCAA policy.

I expect a statement that The University of Michigan vehemently disagrees with the action of the Big Ten and will fight it with all legal means at their disposal to include pursuing options outside of the Big Ten for conference affiliation.

I see they’re trying to get around the problem that they can’t use the sportsmanship policy to punish Harbaugh directly by saying they’re punishing the institution by depriving it of its head coach for the games. Yeah, that’s probably not going to fly in a court

Why 3 games?

Or is this supposed to be a timeout for Harbaugh until the investigation is completed, at which point additional sanctions may be imposed?

I hope Colin Kaepernick shows up tomorrow.  Harbaugh should start him at quarterback.

One of the dumbest fucking things I have ever seen in my life.  They are going to get sued and they are goin to lose. Pettiti's days as commissioner are numbered and they very well might have just set the wheels in motion for Michigan to leave the conference.

Can we immediately appoint a random low level staffer as head football coach, since it doesn't name Harbaugh directly?  Then Harbaugh assumes the low level staffer's role on the sidelines?

Unbelievable and reckless.  Not sure they have time to get TRO before Court closes today.  Imagine one will be granted next week though I am clearly biased.

It's quite short, so:

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced today that the University of Michigan has been found in violation of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy for conducting an impermissible, in-person scouting operation over multiple years, resulting in an unfair competitive advantage that compromised the integrity of competition.

Big Ten Conference Agreement 10.01 states in part that “The Big Ten Conference expects all contests involving a member institution to be conducted without compromise to any fundamental element of sportsmanship. Such fundamental elements include integrity of the competition, civility toward all, and respect, particularly toward opponents and officials.”

The Big Ten Conference will have no additional comment at this time.

Could mgoblog commission a petition that we leave the BIG? Asking mgoblog writers because it needs to be well written. I understand that it may be unlikely to happen, and it’s maybe even unwise, but something like this will send a clear message to the BIG without burdening Ono and everyone else now. Let’s send a message!

I know the time it took was not only the indicator but I knew they were vindicatively punishing with ways to skid their own rules.. That is will implode the Big Ten now..

Double down on stupidity.  They went further in the direction where they are not authorized to act.  3 games? Penalty on head coach?  Skipping the part where a fine for violating a cost-saving rule is a like-for-like penalty.
