B1G announces new bowl tie-ins: Belk, Vegas and Cheez-It Bowl are in
Out: Holiday Bowl/Gator Bowl (rotating) and Foster Farms Bowl
- Rose Bowl vs Pac-12
- Citrus Bowl vs SEC
- Outback Bowl vs SEC
- Las Vegas vs Pac-12 OR Belk Bowl vs ACC
- Music City Bowl vs SEC
- Pinstripe Bowl vs ACC
- Redbox Bowl vs Pac-12
- Quick Lane Bowl vs MAC
- Cheez-It Bowl vs Big 12
Bring back the Sun Bowl!
Changes: The biggest difference for the Big Ten in the new cycle is adding Las Vegas/Belk in place of the Holiday Bowl. Also, the Big Ten replaces the Pac-12 in the Cheez-It Bowl. The Big Ten will have the highest percentage of bowl games against other Power 5 opponents – eight of nine – including three bowls each vs. the SEC and Pac-12. One change among the Big Ten bowl opponents is the Quick Lane Bowl, where the Big Ten is expected to play a team from the (Mid)-American (sic) instead of the ACC.
So a Cheez It Bowl berth definitely gets Harbaugh fired, right?
A Cheez It Bowl berth should get anyone fired.
We technically have played in the Cheez-It Bowl before. It was the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl at the time.
And that coach got fired...eventually
That was the game we we had just scored, but were still down by like 3 scores and Al Borges decided that it was finally time to unleash his super creative trick play for 2.
Don't forget --- all that with 1:15 left in the 4th Quarter of the game.
There was a big UFC event that same night. I went out for that and it was mostly Michigan fans at that suburban Detroit bar. The discontent level was rather high that evening, to say the least.
And everyone wondered, why, for fuck's sake, he didn't run that play against OSU when we went for the win with Devin Gardner, broken foot and all, carried us to within a single point of defeating a vastly superior OSU team.
Clearly, it was better to save it for garbage time against friggin K State.
The Toilet Bowl in Flushing, NY would be a plunge in the wrong direction(s) for any D! team.....except Rutgers and Disco Tech....
Negative. That is when the seat gets warm.
As long as we don't play Florida or South Carolina yet again ...
Big Ten is no longer affiliated with the Gator bowl. I guess we will have to figure out another way to play our annual rivalry game against Florida.
Can we get a tie-in with the Big 10 West so we can play Minnesota again?
And miss out on our protected rival Wisky? Meanwhile other B1G E teams havent played the Badgers in the regular season since the Carter administration.
Don't worry. We're scheduled to play Nebraska for the next couple years. Right as they're getting good. Perfect
I'm just glad the B1G has no tie-in to the Planters Deez-Nuts bowl
Oh joy
Cheez-Its are delicious.
I would rather eat the insulation in my house than Cheez-its
Oh shit you got that white cheddar insulation !?
Try some of the new flavors. They have gotten better. Its like Dominos pizza. It's better now than it was after the last time they said it was better. The Dominos stock was over $200/share the last time I checked.
But was it the additional sodium, sugar, fat or coloring that made it “better?”
I put a dab of peanut butter on them...pretty good.
Excrement
I would just as soon forget all the BS bowls and think only about the 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 playoff bowls,OR the Rose Bowl. Was anyone else alive when M couldn't get into a bowl with a great record in the 70s? Can you imagine Bo taking his team to the Cheez-It Bowl? This is lunacy. This is college football in the new millennium.
Keep in mind that in '84 Bo did take his 6-5 team to the Holiday Bowl, so yes.
... and lost
And lost...to the national championship team by seven.
Hey, guys. That '84 game was actually a terrific game and not a Cheez-It Bowl. Naturally, they were unranked underdogs to the #1 ranked BYU team and battled them to the end. The game set the stage for the next year's team to finish #2 in the polls after beating Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl.
Of course, the '84 game was set up by two key events: 1. M was the first B1G team to venture to a non-Rose Bowl bowl game, the Orange Bowl, which was also a great game. 2. Harbaugh broke his arm in '84 so M went with his backup, Chris Zurbrugg. Whom do you remember better? Can you believe M lost by just a touchdown?
Stop it with your facts and history. I want to live in an apocryphal world where Bo ate lightning, crapped thunder, never lost a game, coached football the 'Michigan' way by running the ball 200 times a game straight over the defenders and beat Ohio State 11 times a year.
"Was anyone else alive when M couldn't get into a bowl with a great record in the 70s?"
Hiya pal.
Once, after partying too hard in Vegas..... I ate too may cheez-its and it caused me to Belk....
that's all i got
It aint easy being cheez-e.
Cheddar jack cheezits are pretty good.
Of course every fucking game other than maybe the Quick Lane and Pinstripe are clearly a home game for the opponent. Such bullshit. We should be playing the SEC in California and the the Pac-12 in Florida. Make everyone travel!
I suppose we’ll just have to make the CFP and say “fuck-it” to the other bowl games.
OMG- Cheez it Bowl ...tehehehe
I still want the Big Ten to be in a One Hour Martinizing Bowl one day. Sure, the team that would get in probably sucked ass, but the uniforms....well, you certainly wouldn't be able to argue with quality dry cleaning.
The Las Vegas Bowl will be moving to a brand new stadium. Smart move.
FWIW -- last year the Foster Farms Bowl was renamed the Redbox Bowl.
I love seeing some Sun Bowl love.
Well, we've definitely got experience in this whole processed cheese area.
Bowls I don't want to play in for $200, Alex.
Let's hope this is of academic interest to Michigan fans only, eh
Hopefully we never have to worry about attending any of the new ones.
Cheez-its are Satan's candy. They don't taste like cheese and crackers, they taste like feet.
If we ever "qualify" for the Cheez-It Bowl, the team should vote to stay home and organize their sock drawers.
BELK BOWL!!! Woo Hoo!! That's about 40 minutes from my house and I take my kids every year! Be good to see some familiar teams although I hope Michigan never drops down to be one...
