The Harbaugh loan/insurance thingie was covered as something that was a little strange, with an emphasis on coach Harbaugh becoming the highest paid coach in the country. It's possible that some coaches are putting out some negative things becasue of this, perhaps insinuating he's ready to leave.

I don't believe that, but then I don't see the sort of obvious event that would cause such a decommitement

I am curious as to how you believe that the revelation regarding Harbaugh's compensation package could lead to negative recruiting? I don't think that I've ever heard of a coach perhaps "making too much", if that's what you think it may be perceived to be, as grounds for negative recruiting. Seriously, I want to know where exactly this comes from because I can't see the problem.

This is the down side of handling verbal "commitments" the way Harbaugh does instead of the way Hoke did.

Not saying one is better than the other, just that this kind of thing shouldn't be a surprise. At all.

"A day or two ago, they sent my mom a card thanking us for going to the Michigan bbq, but we never went," Solomon said. "I do not know which recruit they were talking to, but it was not me. It was just a little heartbreaking, for me to supposedly be so high on their list, for them to confuse me with someone else. Plus they spelled both of my names wrong after I told them, but that was not the main issue. I guess they do not have tabs on me."

His mind was made up before any gaffe. If his heart was all in, even as poor as it is to make those mistakes, it wouldn't have flipped him. Sounds like an excuse. Not that I blame a kid for stepping back when he needs to dig deeper, but he already had a foot out.

Bingo. People confuse cause and effect all the time. People think they believe something based on the facts but usually people believe something then find the facts that backup their opinon.

On this board we were 99.9% behind Rodriguez during 'stretch-gate', but a few years of losing and suddenly people cited it as an issue.

Not that I'm blaming the kid but no, interns don't need to be fired for losing this recruit.
