Anyone know when the autograph day will take place?

Submitted by Hal_Victor on

I've never been to autograph day (usually mid-August) and my son is dying to get Denard to sign his jersey.  Anyone know when it's taking place this year?

Hasn't been announced yet. I'll post a thread when the email goes out.

If you want Denard's signature I recommend showing up very early. Unless they change the rules this year regarding pictures and dilly-dallying, Denard won't be giving out more than 100 signatures, if that. If you're not lined up within 50 feet of the gate, you'll probably miss him.

but I know UM has contemplated making it a kid-Fan Day with membership in their MGOKIDS club a prerequisite for getting in.  Last year was just ridiculous and you eBay whores know I'm talking to you.  My daughters got to meet Denard and get an autograph but the whole scene was bullshit...and the kids knew it.

eBay whores blow, and you can sign shit and sell it on eBay. And to the defensive eBay crybabys; yes coa's can be whipped up in about 30 seconds with a handy program. Unless you have a picture of Denard (which could be photoshopped) signing the jersey that is one of a kind, please keep it. Let the kids go and enjoy the players.

No joke on the Ebay part. It's pretty sickening to see all of the autographs show up online in the days after Fan Day, especially since the players can't make money off of their signatures until they graduate. The same thing has been happening with the Hockey garage sale as of late with things like practice jerseys, helmets, and pants.

Fan day is ALWAYS the Sunday before the first game of the season. So look for August 26th.

It was a joke last year. Its been building torwards that for some time now. People cutting in and out of lines. People getting pictures from players. No one is really in control. Ebay whores. I go just to collect and maybe get a few MS paints signed.

The whole thing needs a make over. Its gotten out of hand. People may hate to hear this but they have to stop letting people take pictures with players. Things would move sooooo much faster.

I've gone the last couple years and been shut out from getting autographs. It's partially my fault, as I got in the RR line and the Denard line, but if they enforced no pictures and only one item signed things would run a lot smoother. As it stands, unless you camp out the night before, forget about getting Denard's autograph.

Easy solution. Sell tickets to this. It doesn't have to be a bunch of money ($5 or $10). That way you limit the amount of people inside the stadium and the athletic department could make a few extra bucks. It almost makes too much sense...

You're probably right that selling tickets may be getting hairy with the NCAA rules. They could even do some sort of lottery with free tickets. Just some way to limit the amount of people in the stadium. I know some people won't be happy because they can't go, but it won't be a clusterfuck like it has been in the past few years.

Here's my adivce: Get there early and be ready to wait in line if you want Brady Hoke or Denard. Last year we got in line right when the gates opened, we stood in line the whole time and right when the line got to the field they cut us off after saying we were gonna make it.

Yep. Brought my big M flag hoping to get a chunk of the team's signatures but I walked away with nothing. Really disappointing.

The thing that pisses me off is the autograph vultures. These people are burdens to every real fan that is there for FAN day. These are the assholes who grab 10 free posters and for themselves, get them signed and then sell them on ebay.

The line for Denard last year went all the way from the concourse, out of the building and curved down the northeast corner of the stadium.

My plan this year is to just get as many position groups of the team as I can. If I want anything Denard signed I'm gonna buy it off ebay.

Unfortunately, if you go the ebay route for a Denard autograph right now, you are just feeding the sellers that you are angry about. Just wait until after this season if you are going to buy a Denard autograph. I can guarantee Denard will do an autograph signing with a local memoribila company once the season is over and he is no longer a NCAA athlete. If you look at the past, Hart, Braylon, Woodson, ect. all did signings after their last season ended and before the draft. Usually guys who enter the draft will have at least one signing in the area, and promoters will know the high demand for Denard in the area. Also, the prices at a signing will most likely be cheaper than what you see on ebay for real Denard autographs. The supply of Denard autographs out there is pretty low. That would change once he does autograph signings

Yes! The assholes that take all the posters. I didn't get any of the hand outs and like you said I would see people walking around with a bundle of them and all I want is one. No one has any control.

I went two years ago before Deanrd blew up and got his Auto. I also got Tates who was the hot auto that year, he recognized my MS Pait which was cool.

Anyone who wants to see my haul from that year(2010)

Have fun. Last year we got there about three hours before the gate opened and waited in line about seven hours. As we reached the top of the staircase where Denard was stationed the day was closed. Hopefully things are a little better organized this year. I go every year and last year was by far the worst it has ever been.

I hope they fix the problems. We went two years back. We chose one position group and wrote off trying to get other autographs. I stood in line while my husband ran around with the kid down on the field. I texted when we got close. We had the KID, not the adults, get a ball signed. I had a roster with me (two copies, actually, one sorted by number and one by position; I recommend this) and chatted with every non-starting kid about his hometown or high school (typically the starters were being chatted up by the people ahead of us). They were all awesome about stuff, even hours into the signing. One of them said, "hey, it's better than practice," which got some affirmative chortles from teammates.

Through luck we also got RRs signature+ photo and the man was super charismatic.

It ended up being a nice day but would have been less so if we spent the whole time in line, or dealing with rude fans.

I called the Football Administration office today and asked when Fan Day will take place.  I was told the date hasn't been set yet (which seems hard to believe) but to keep checking mgoblue.com.  I also asked if there was going to be any change in the format this year, e.g., MGoKids only, etc.; the person on the other end knew nothing about any format changes.

Very helpful.
