Another Sam Webb Gut Feeling
I just listened to this morning's Recruiting Round up, and Sam mentioned that he had a "gut feeling" that we would have at least one more commit before the spring game. He doesn't provide any clues who, although the podcast is full of content today.

probably godin would be my guess
says Gunnar Kiel or Zeke Pike.
I heard Webb had diarrhea, so maybe all three!?

are cirrhosis related.
but it sounded like Kaleb Ringer was going to commit around or at the spring game. That was a couple weeks ago and things change with 17-18 year old kids all the time so who knows.
Is there any way to see your avatar full size?

Yeah. Do a google search for "chicks in swimsuits" or "bikini" or "boobs" or any number of possibilities. An unimaginably vast collection of pictures of scantily- or un-clad women awaits - that's why Al Gore invented the Internet - so you don't need to get all super-excited and frustrated by tiny little 100x100 pictures of quasi-porn.

Didn't work. I did a google search on boob and your picture came up.
The girls in his avatar have Michigan gear on and it is actually a pretty cool pic full size.

You guys are really bad at Google searching.

That all these computer genius, UM graduates still get a woody from seing a few chicks in bikinis--and then pretend they don't know how to find them.
Hey OP I'm not trying to hijack your thread, but do some of the more knowledgeable recruiting guys think we could end up with a top 10 recruiting class?
March 26th, 2011 at 10:54 AM ^
Seriously though - the concept of a "knowledgeable recruiting guy" loses meaning when you are talking about 17 & 18 year olds who can change their minds. That said, if you go to michigan.scout.com and check out the prospect list under football recruiting, there's not a whole lot of 5 stars considering Michigan right now. Could get to a Top 10 class with a whole lot of 4 stars, but it seems unlikely. May need to wait until 2012 for a better shot.
there are only 11 players currently rated 5 star on Scout and 4 of them have Michigan at least on their lists on there. They normally have about 50 players at 5 star. If the ratio held, then we'd have at least 16 or 17 guys with a 5 star rating who were at least listing Michigan.
wonder if sam reads this blog.
Ira from his show referenced the site, so I'm saying yes.
Also, Brian is on their show all the time.
Kaleb Ringer is supposed to announce on April 15, the day before the Spring game. I'm gonna guess him.
Ringer or Godin are the most likely causes of Sam's digestive disturbance, but Ron Thompson could also be stirring his enzymes.

Is this for real? Is he that close to committing to Michigan?
March 26th, 2011 at 11:03 AM ^
I don't think he's all that close, last I read on him he had a zillion travel plans for the spring.
I don't know how close he is to anything haven't followed recruiting that close yet with all the good basketball on. Just have seen his name and UM in the same sentence a lot and he hadn't been mentioned yet.
Who could say no to that finger?
(INSERT FAVE PIC OF COACH POINTING HERE)
Sam Webb = Leroy Jethro Gibbs?
This "gut" of his is becoming quite famous.
As it was posted earlier that he verballed to PSU. And that was quick for him. So much for the Mattison effect.
How dare Mattison for not winning one recruiting battle... If he loses one more we should tell him to GTFO!
March 26th, 2011 at 10:42 AM ^
Let's see....We've offered roughly 130 kids and let's assume half are on defence....So for Mattison to land all of them, we've quickly become the most egregious offender of oversigning in history.
Recruits go elsewhere. It happens.
When Michigan doesn't even offer them a scholarship.
With 3 more weeks until the spring game and all the visits lined up, I would be shocked if there wasn't AT LEAST one more commit. Personally, I have a "gut feeling" we will have 3 more by the end of that weekend. However, no one pays money to hear about my gut.

I would gladly pay 2 cents to hear more about your gut feeling.

While it is nice to have a group of players "commit" to our class - these guys haven't even received official written offers. The chances they remain committed to us for the next 11(?) months isn't amazing.
They're really only nice so that other high profile recruits will see stability because there are other solid players in the class. Many of these verbal commits will still take recruiting trips to other places - where anything could happen.
Although a verbal commitment is not 100%, there's still a very high probability that a guy who verbals with us, signs with us. Last year we had what, 4 decommits? The kicker, Crawford, Hart and Fisher. We signed 22 kids, so 26 kids verballed at one point, and 22 signed. That's 85%. And msot of those were due to a coaching change, maybe all of them.
So, if someone told me a good player committed to UM but there was only an 85% chance he signed, I'd say that sounds pretty good.

Just got off the phone with my dad, who is at EMU today with Matthew for a track meet. Tom Lemming is in Ann Arbor this weekend, and he made it out to EMU to meet my brother. Lemming told Matthew that he'll be recommending him for both the Army and UA All-American games. My dad also told me that he and Matthew are probably heading over to Ann Arbor after the track meet to visit with the coaches.
