Another #FridayThe13th Upset: Unranked Cal DEMOLISHES #8 Washington State, 37-3.

Submitted by SpikeFan2016 on

UPDATE:

California absolutely destroys previously unbeaten  #8 Washington State on both sides of the ball en route to a 37-3 upset win. It's only the second win over a Top 10 team in the past 50 years for Cal (the other was in 2003 against USC in 3OT).

Wazzu was, amazingly, a 16.5 point favorite coming into the game and lost by 33. That's a 49.5 point swing in the spread.

The turnover margin was 7-0 in favor of the Golden Bears.

So...our offense is better than Mike Leach's?

They finished with SEVEN turnovers.  I don't how many possessions WSU had, but it couldn't have been much more than seven.

I think Saturday could  be much of the same as far as upsets go.  No two ranked teams play each other, but many ranked teams are on the road against fairly good teams.  Should be a great day of football.  Penn St with a bye should now move into the #2 slot.  Michigan needs to win today and then get ready to take out the #2 team next week.

That loss last Saturday night still feels every bit as bad as it did then.

Sparties everywhere are still gloating over their "great victory", Dantonio is still acting like a smug asshole, spewing his "personal satisfaction" BS while firing off complaints and targeting videos to the B1G office, hoping to get Michigan players suspended.

No, losing to State because of being -5 in turnovers still sucks. Spartie still sucks, but they have Paul Bunyan for the next 12 months. The only way some of the stench starts going away is by us beating IU soundly today while State fails at Minnesota.

I actually like Leach and Wazzu quite a bit. Was rooting for them the somehow win the Pac12.

Unfortunately they’re Coug’ing it, as it’s known out west. Watching it happen in a similar fashion to Michigan’s last game is also painful.

For what it's worth, I live about 4 miles from the Cal campus, and the air quality is really bad --bad enough that we drove 3 hours away for the weekend to get away from it. Berkeley's only 30-40 miles away from wine country, and the wind has been carrying the smoke all over the region.
