Ambry Thomas cleared to play tonight

Submitted by WorldwideTJRob on August 31st, 2019 at 10:58 AM

According to BTN Tailgate...Ambry Thomas has been cleared for tonight’s game. Not sure if he will play a ton, but it will be good to see him get some game action. Especially after dealing with UC this summer.

Best news we could receive this morning

Hey now that’s some awesome news! It’s my hope that he’s not needed, and that they can ease him into the game when things are in hand.

Fantantastic news on game day morning!

Fortunately we don’t play a team with a competent passing offense until probably Iowa. So he’s got time to build his strength back and into the routine.

Don’t know if he’ll play much or at all. It means that he’s gone through those hoops we heard about, so that’s good. Whether he is ready to perform at the level we hope? Separate question.

But this is good news.

That is excellent news. Thank you. I am sure they will ease him in and I am looking forward to see what Gray can do. A good third CB should go a long way for us.

Holy cow! Great news. Funny how he can overcome colitis quicker than they can fix the points not working on here.

I presume Runyan and Thomas will have the same game plan.   Start game, hopefully sit the second half.

see How they feel for the Army game and sit them 2 weeks if needed.

I’d actually hope they go the opposite direction.    Give a second stringer the start and build up depth.   Let Runyon and Thomas play a few downs to start to knock off the cobwebs.    No need to play someone still getting back in shape to much.   Playing out of shape is a recipe for an unnecessary injury.

Given Runyan’s injury (something with his back), and his experience, I’d just let him sit. Maybe play some garbage time next week, but no need tonight. Rest and don’t risk aggravating anything. Hopefully Ambry on the other hand will get some snaps in. The weight fluctuation, having to get conditioning back, much less experience, etc. make it more beneficial to get in and start knocking the rust off, getting back to game speed, etc.

Did someone confirm he has ulcerative colitis? I never saw that written anywhere and Brian wrote it the other day but again never read it elsewhere. Could possibly have been infectious colitis which can still cause all the issues he had.

I would bet we don't see him or Runyan for a single down today but they do through the warms up and all that. Then they play some next week to get ready for Wisconsin. No need to push them for this game.

UC is a chronic disease so it’s never a permanent recovery.

I’d guess that his week-to-week eligibility will be a question throughout the season.

Maybe but humira is a godsend if it works for the person. As I said before, my ex brother in law is a fat POS who lives a normal life thanks to medication. He shit himself at cedar point from a bag of cotton candy, got put on the right meds and could do the ghost pepper wing challenge now.

It is unfortunate that I can’t unread your comment about your POS ex brother in law’s shitty experience at Cedar Point.

As noted, UC is chronic. Someone with that condition simply can’t predict when a flare-up will occur. Consequently, “under control” is somewhat inaccurate.

That's fantastic news.  Hopefully it won't matter tonight.  And game-winning touchdown last night notwithstanding, Army doesn't pass.  But if he's cleared now he should be full strength for Wisconsin and the meat of the schedule. I really thought he might be out for the year.
