Dallas trades Alex Guptill, Alex Chiasson, Nick Paul and a 2nd round pick for Jason Spezza and Ludvig Karlsson.
If Guptill doesn't learn to give an effort consistently, he's going to find himself a long career in the AHL or ECHL
for the fourth straight off season.
Although maybe that is a good thing, because when Holland has signed or traded for a veteran in the last four years they have been mostly terrible.
Jim Nill, he was basically the head scout for the Wings. I played with his kid on a team back in the day - he went on to play at Sparty and I went on to the beer leagues.
Ottawa gets 3 players with unproven but decent potential, an expiring contract off their payroll and an unhappy player out of the locker room. It's a good deal for both sides.
Yay Red Wings!
Wings get smoked in free agency (no surprise there). Now I'm hearing about potential trades. At this point I'd rather they did nothing. They'll get taken to the cleaners for a top-4 defenseman. Hold on to the future, it's not that far off.
