ACE: Jehu Chesson (UPDATE: NOT) Visiting This Weekend

Submitted by Ace on

UPDATE: Chesson is not visiting. Move along.

According tothe Sun-Sentinel (via CBSSports.com's Eye on Recruiting), comes the news that MO WR Jehu Chesson will take an official visit for the Purdue game this weekend:

Ladue (Mo.) Horton Watkins 2012 WR Jehu Chesson, who has taken unofficial visits to the University of Miami in each of the past two springs, plans to take an official visit to Michigan this weekend.

He has already officially visited Northwestern.

Chesson is 6-3, 180 pounds, and is a consensus three-star recruit among the four recruiting services. With offers from Illinois, Iowa, Mizzou, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, and UCLA, as well as a Michigan offer, he's a very solid option if the Wolverines can't land both Jordan Payton and Amara Darboh.

ace, what's holding him back from being a 4-star?  he's got the measurables, even in speed.  quickness?  hands?  athleticism?

To be honest, I have no idea. Since he's a Missouri prospect, I've only been able to watch film, but he looks quite good on tape—nice frame, very good speed, solid hands. Of course, those are just highlights, so it's tough to get the whole picture, but he might just be an under-the-radar guy. It certainly seems like Michigan likes him—they wouldn't have extended an offer, given the position they're in with higher-ranked receiver recruits, unless they thought he had talent.

Yeah. Ace started off by saing, "Honestly, I have no idea." He then offers a possibility and starts that off with "maybe." He's obviously trying to answer the question but he doesn't know for sure. Ace is trying to be helpful; your comment is not.

Not to go off topic, but how is my comment considered "Trolling".  I am mentioning that I would prefer that Ace say he doesn't know if he in fact doesn't know.  I am saying I prefer honesty, which is what Ace has been practicing since he got here.

How is that trolling again?

Out of curiosity, what exactly was the BS in his post?

Was it the part where he answered the request about his rating with an "I don't know" which you seem to be asking for.

Or the part where he did his job and provided as much insight as he could based on what he knew?

Inquiring minds are curious...

Thanks Ace for the update. I love his height, but hopefully we can land Payton and Darboh. I agree though, Chesson would be a great get if either one of those don't pan out.

decent size atleast, something we need at WR.  although find it surprising we are having a hard time landing bluechip WRs....we need to get these guys to watch what borges likes to do, they are going to be the focal point of the offence in years to come.

oh I know those are good recruits.  just felt they would of had one already commited by this point.  but i'm assuming alot of that is because the coaches didn't know what they had yet and focused more on the lines and defence before working on offencsive skill which isn't a horrible idea in its self I guess.

What wideout do we have that you think could keep an extremely talented freshman on the bench next year? Stonum and Roundtree are average at best, Hemingway is graduating,Dileo seems ok but nothing super special and nobody else has done much of anything. WR is a position where you can play immediately and we NEED play makers because we have 0.

I would absolutely love to be playing WR in next year's offense. Once Denard gets more reps and works on his hips a bit, receivers will be wide open like they were at many points last year. This offense is statistically great right now, but when everything begins to gel, which happens to coincide with the arrival of these WRs on campus next fall, the sky is the limit.

Not sure which rumors you're referring to, but I'm pretty sure Dunn will be at Ohio State this weekend, not Michigan, unless something changed in the last 12 hours or so.

Thanks for the update Ace.

Do you think that Chesson will (or at least has the ability to) put on "good weight", while still maintaining his speed and agility, before hitting the field at the college level?  Correct me if I am wrong, but Chesson is at least a full inch taller than both Payton (6'2") and Darboh (6'2"), but is roughly 10 pounds lighter than Darboh (190lbs) and 20 pounds lighter than Payton (200lbs).

I know we would rather have some of the more highly rated guys like Payton, Darboh, Powe and Madaris, but what if Chesson decides to commit this weekend?  He has an offer.  Can he just say "I accept" any time he wants?  It seems that some of the above posters are suggesting that the coaches are slow walking Chesson in case the blue chip recruits don't work out.
