9 years ago today...
...UM basketball was the last remaining undefeated team in the country and ranked #2. We would proceed to lose to OSU on Jan 13 but later become #1 in the country the week of Jan 30; but only for a week as we would lose to Indiana on Feb 2.
it's been a pretty damn good decade for basketball. hopefully, football is on the same track now.

i messed up. it was 9 years ago today in 2013. i'm living in the past. would someone be so kind to change the 8 to a 9?

I would just find something that happened 8 years ago today and change the topic.

well, we were pretty damn good that year too. won the big ten easily at 15-3. but we were unranked 8 years ago today.

Wings lost to the Ducks 8 years ago today according to my FB memories. That's all I got. Womp Womp.

Definitely not post-worthy.

That will have to do. Let's run with it.

On this day in 2014, #3 Ohio State lost to Iowa, the second of four straight losses for OSU.

Though you may be "Living in the Past"...
... I got the OP title fixed for you.

We were the last or one of the two last undefeated teams in the country in 3 of the last 10 seasons.
I think we put it together and make it in this year still.

The Brady Hoke era wasn't going so well, in football. 2013 ended on a sour note and the bottom fell out in 2014.

I think football is on this track. Now I hope basketball is on this track.

January 12, 2014 -- the 71st Golden Globes Awards! I remember it like it was just yesterday.

Fancy seeing you here 'Chatster', would you mind embedding the video link I just posted in response to the OP's request for a title correction?

I thought this was going to be in reference to our three straight beatdowns of top 10 teams in hoops in 2014.

If only JB and JH could have a child together, inherit the best traits from both, and go onto become a head basketball coach at the U of M.

And if that child had a child with Shaq, Rodman, Magic, Rudy T, and Steph Curry then you’d have a pretty complete recruiter/player/coach/secret friend.

The dropoff in basketball this year is pretty wild (and quite concerning). Hopefully just a blip in what otherwise has been some pretty stellar years of basketball.

It just shows how difficult it is to put together a competent team where everyone is in sync. New players are going to take time to develop. It's funny to write but we have been spoiled the last several + years with Michigan basketball.

Pitbull was at the top of his fucking game.

I was at that OSU game. It was about as awful a first half as there could’ve been. At least the start. OSU went on a huge run to start the first half, something like a 25-8 run, and they just couldn’t miss. Leaving the arena to the chants of “Just like football” didn’t really help, either.
But Michigan fought and clawed its way back to tie it up late in the second half, but OSU put it away anyway. I do remember an older OSU fan tapping me as we were leaving and said “You guys have a hell of a team.” That was the only thing remotely resembling a compliment I got that day, which was one more than I expected to get.

The Ohio basketball community is oddly sane. I suppose the fan experience must be a little like Kentucky football, which is also oddly sane for anyone who's ever experienced them during hoops season.

That game at Indiana was intense. Two really good teams. I still remember Oladipo nearly throwing down what would have been an insane alley oop.
