Hopefully not the last either.

You confused me with the title, pound sign before the 1 would have been more clear, I thought you were referring to the weather at first.
Also fuck those cheating Jayhawks, glad they lost!

Living in Brittany for 40 years, so my English is a bit rusty. I'll take note for the next time.

Rule number 76: no excuses, play like a champion.

Rule #76 just got revised.
Strike the ND slogan

Hey! Where in Brittany? I spent a summer with UM in St Malo a looong time ago before moving to Tours and Paris for a year during my junior year.
December 21st, 2019 at 4:20 PM ^
Near Quimper in the south-west. Taught traditional music and Irish set dancing, before the grey hair caught up.
Anyway it's a strong Celtic land and you can feel it in the contact with the people. Much more open and friendly than the typical French.
Still Maize & Blue at heart and catch most of the games on streaming.

Much more open and friendly than the typical French.
Ha.
That's mostly everywhere outside of Paris... Loire Valley, Alps, Bordeaux, Lorriane, Alsace, Basque Country are all exceptionally open and friendly as the northwest is too

When?
I was at ESCEM in Tours for my MBA in the summer of 2000.
St Malo... great town!
December 21st, 2019 at 4:39 PM ^
Cool! My grandmother was a Bretonne by birth, and her first language was Gallo, although her family later immigrated to Quebec.
U-M had a study abroad program in St-Malo for a long time and I was really excited to go there, but they cancelled it the year I was going to go. I did go to France the next year, but they moved the program to Grenoble.

Living in Brittany for 40 years ...
This may be the greatest reason I've ever heard for a grammatical error. You're forgiven.
Joyeux noël.

Actually, # = n° in French.
When you speak two languages fluently, sometimes you have to pause and think: Now which language does that phrase belong to?
The hard disks in the brain sort of melt together ;o)
My favorite comparison is the phrase "Play it by ear" which translates in French to "Au pif" = "Do it by the nose" ;o)

The hard disks in the brain sort of melt together ;o)
...and the French keyboard too. That layout effs me up all the time!
December 21st, 2019 at 8:45 PM ^
Oh yeah, the AZERTY keyboard is weird. It's similar enough to QWERTY to make you think you think you're typing normally, and then you double-check and all your a's, q's and z's (and periods and commas) are in the wrong place.
December 22nd, 2019 at 8:17 AM ^
The feeling is mutual ;o)
Like when you boot on a CD in English to partition a new hard disk and you have to constantly stop and think, then go back and find the correct key. The @ and € are also a bit*h, since you need to use with the Alt Gr key.
Anyway it's great to see so many world travelers on MGoBlog !
December 22nd, 2019 at 4:26 AM ^
Actually, when you think about it, using n° for "number" makes more sense than using # does. At least it uses the first letter of the word it's replacing.
Plus it gives this place a little Continental flair.

Could not have happened to a dirtier coach or team. Self is the worst!

Calipari and Kentucky say, hold my beer.
Pitino says, hold my call girl.

Was Self a cheater at Illinois? I thought I used to respect him, but maybe I forgot some scandals.
December 21st, 2019 at 2:43 PM ^
A lot of teams could win it this season.
December 21st, 2019 at 3:19 PM ^
And that holds true for the B1G. Wouldn't be a bit surprised to see the champ with 5 or even 6 loss co-champions. Gonna be tough to win on the road (an understatement)
December 21st, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
Now Gonzaga will take over and wont play a team with a pulse the rest of the year.
December 21st, 2019 at 5:02 PM ^
Good. I like having that win on the resume.
December 21st, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
St Mary's is a really good team in that conference, but otherwise yeah Gonzaga could win out and it would be great for Michigan's resume.
December 21st, 2019 at 3:00 PM ^
There really isn't an "elite" team this year. It's sorta crazy.
I think Howard is great, but imagine if Beilein came back and, I don't know, Iggy or Poole had stuck around? This team might be #1 in the country by a healthy margin.
Not complaining, but it shows how year-to-year fluctuations really can shape a season outlook.
December 21st, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
It's funny you say this because I bet he wonders that. He will never admit it, and i don't know that he would utilize Teske in the low post the way Howard does, but this might have been his best chance since, well last year. Haha... he was really good here.
December 21st, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
I highly doubt he wonders that, after knowing he would be losing those three.. .in fact, thats what pushed him over the edge, the thought he'd have to start over, of sorts. I would say he doubts picking the Cavs over another opportunity.
December 21st, 2019 at 4:46 PM ^
Many teams could probably say what ifs. But we have a good team with flaws and a coach that is off to a great start.
December 21st, 2019 at 4:41 PM ^
Hooya college hoops is awesome
December 21st, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
We could potentially - potentially, mind you - end up with a tournament field that looks insane on paper from a seeding standpoint if this keeps up and I like it....
December 21st, 2019 at 7:19 PM ^
Will any team be above a 10% likelihood to win the Big Dance on 538 at the start of the tournament? I doubt it. There's usually three or so at or above 15%.
December 22nd, 2019 at 9:22 AM ^
OSU may very well be #1 this week after beating Kentucky. That may be by default though as they got handled by Minnesota on the road, and they’ll lose more before this is all said and done.
Not a good year to be #1.
