4* DT George Rooks and 4* WR Jayden Thomas committing soon

Jayden Thomas is for sure committing tomorrow. Not in great shape with Thomas after we slowed down his recruitment after Andrel Anthony committed but staff have ramped it up since Markus Allen decommitted. We were leading his recruitment prior to Andrel Anthony so maybe there is a chance. Wouldn't be a huge loss since the WR class looks great but a 4* receiver is always welcome.

George Rooks said he wants to commit before his HS season starts, which would be tomorrow. We have all the crystal balls right now. Should be a priority to seal the deal with Rooks. As class with Rooks and potentially Benny would be huge for our future prospects at DT.

EJ Holland hasn't been that confident in Rooks($) and thinks a commitment decision is likely to get pushed back. His read on the situation--and I'm extrapolating a bit here--seems to be that Michigan had the edge for a commitment before Oct 2, when his season begins, and that Penn State wants him to wait until December because they're in visitation range and could make up ground in that time. There's a lot more about why he feels that way at the jump.

Holland also sees this recruitment as an up or down test of whether Nua can close, since his recruiting so far has not been what we'd hoped.

Long, Vert, Ambry all were awesome to have. St. Juste and Washington turned into productive P5 starters elsewhere after being blocked at Michigan. Zordich got the best out of Watson and the Hoke 2015/2016 group. Gray is off to a solid start in the Stribling/Clark boundary corner mold.

Just need another dude in the room at any given time IMO. If they can't pull it off in '22 then maybe it's time for that conversation, but it's hard for me to get out the pitchforks and torches on this one.

It’s easy coaching highly rated recruits like Jourdan Lewis, David Long, Ambry Thomas, and Lavert Hill. No more top 100 corners on the roster and now they are moving a 5 star safety over because he’s recruited absolutely no one. As far as I’m concerned he needs to pick shit up and fast.

Just stop. We've had plenty of "highly rated" recruits not pan out all over the field. At corner, since Zordich came... file not found. You're just grasping, so you don't have to admit being wrong. Stop doing that, it makes people lose respect for you.

I mean, Michigan has signed a total of 4 DL in the last two recruiting classes. Braiden McGregor, Kris Jenkins, Quinten Sommerville, and Dominick Guidice. It begs the question, what the hell is the staff doing? Between this and CB recruiting the wheels are starting to come off on that side of the ball.

It's easy to make this point when you forget Jaylen Harrell, Aaron Lewis, Kechaun Bennett, and TJ Guy. If you include them that would make 8 DL which seems a lot more respectable, not to mention that Michigan is still recruiting Rooks and Benny which would be 10 DL in the last 2 years. Lewis transferring out is unfortunate but its understandable that he would want to be closer to home with the current pandemic. As for Harrell and Bennett, you could make the argument that they are LBs, but they are more likely Rush Ends the same way Uche was - playing off the ball if need be but also rushing the passer effectively. And the more they bulk up, the more likely it is that they will playing with their hands on the ground. TJ Guy is a DL all the way. Only question is if he's a SDE or a DT.

Harrell is listed as a DL and he's currently "LB" the same way Uche was a "LB". You're effectively splitting time as a DE. Not to mention that Harrell is bigger than Uche and it's more likely when he fills out, that he's a full time DE.

As for Lewis, you were arguing about Michigan not recruiting enough DL. Well they recruited and signed Lewis. He counts. He's only transferring for family reasons.

Harrell is a standup DE with maybe a little time with his hand in the dirt.

The criterion was “signed” and Lewis definitely fits that category.  No one is signed for 2021 so it’s a false standard if we’re debating Rooks, Benny, etc. The 2019 class also had 5 DL, so numbers are not the issue.

Upper class quality is the issue. It’s the lack of a few true DTs that creates the issue -  put 1-2 War Daddies on the roster and 1-2 penetrating 3Ts and the issue is moot.

Dude, what fucking recruiting classes are you looking at? This is the second different post I’ve seen you make this dumb ass statement.

Jaylen Harrell, Aaron Lewis (transferred), Kechaun Bennett, And TJ Guy. All DL commits in the past two classes that somehow aren’t on your list. And that doesn’t include Benny or Rooks, two DL recruits we’re still after in this class.

You just want to keep twisting the words to fit your shitty narrative. Guess what? Every single player in 2020 and 2021 class, will be a true freshman next season. So fudge the numbers all you want, it’s a combined class. Call Harrell a linebacker all you want. Don’t count Lewis because he transferred all you want. That’s still 6 DL recruits who will be true freshmen next season. Another 5 in the 2019 class. Of all the possible criticisms you could have here, you completely missed the boat on this. And it’s really sad to see you desperately grasping to hold onto the point. Take the L. It’s a shit take.

Nua started January 2019, i.e. less than 2 years.  He's had one recruiting class, last year, and he pulled in what many said was the most important recruit of the class, Braiden McGregor.  The 2021 class is far from over and he has already pulled in Quinten Somerville.   Meanwhile, Rooks and Benny are likely to go our way with 100% of CBs pointing to us.  Patience, please.

Also keep an eye on 4*CB Omarion Cooper is is committed to Florida State. Sam is saying that he is a legit flip possibility. Michigan is still recruiting him hard and that the communication isn't all one sided. He has reached out to them too. Doesn't hurt that Florida St is a dumpster fire and Norvell hasn't exactly endeared himself to his players.

I think DT and CB are two positions Michigan really needs to up their game in recruiting.  They're two areas we seem to have the biggest disparity in talent with programs like Ohio St.  We seem to be doing well at recruiting other positions like WR, TE, RB, LB, etc.
