2nd Day Sweet 16
Creighton came to play
Now, this is a good game so far. Much better play then yesterday’s low scoring, turnover filled crap fests.
Two full Superman dives on the hardwood to keep possession for Creighton. I think they're motivated.
Nervous? Who's nervous? I'm calm, I'm calm, I'm perfectly calm.
Only bad thing for Creighton is they have to pretty much play perfect ball or Gonzaga goes on mini runs
Creighton can't make enough stops to beat Gonzaga. Have to beat Gonzaga with defense.
Hell, they are shooting 68% from 2 and 56% from 3 so far. Creighton is shooting ok but not that damn good
Creighton hanging around but they cannot stop the Zags. Gonzaga can get any bucket they want so far.
Creighton got over some early game jitters and is hanging tough. But this current offensive drought needs to end.
I can’t see anyone knocking off the Zags. It’ll take an uncharacteristic cold night from them and their opponent to have their best shooting day of the year to win. Both of those things need to happen; just one I don’t think will be enough
We will give them fits if we get the chance.
This gonzaga team is better on offense than Villanova in 2018. You don’t stop them, they stop themselves or you lose. It’s the best team in the country and it’s not really debatable. Obviously anything can happen in a single elimination game, but gonzaga is going to beat themselves or win it all, nobody is beating them if they play to their ability
But based your argument, any team that takes more threes than Gonzaga would beat them if each team played to their ability.
Sweet.
I agree. I think with Dickinson and Wagner we may have a better chance than most at slowing them, but they may be too good.
If we had Livers healthy I’d be willing to put a wager down on a game against Gonzaga. As it stands, I still feel like we have a good shot should we get to them.
Could not agree more. Gonzaga is an absolute buzzsaw. I've seen very few teams over the years that play as well, as efficient, and as constantly in control as the Zags do this year.
It's likely going to take a incredible performance from their opponent and a subpar showing from Gonzaga in order for somebody to knock them off, and that's not a knock on any team. Gonzaga is just playing that well right now.
I wish this thread luck in remaining on the top page with M playing the next game.
Problem with this game is both of these teams play alike and Gonzaga has more talent. If Creighton wants to win this, they have to stop trying to outscore them.
Gonzaga feels like just a cut above everyone else in basketball this year.
The cry about every single call
Suggs is the worst at it
I'm not saying they aren't getting annoying, but it's undeniable they are really talented.
Clark Kellogg is an idiot, and it is painful to listen to him provide analysis.....That is all.
Well, he’s a Buckeye alum sooo...
Oh shit! I didn't realize that. Well, that explains everything.
I’ll pay good money to watch Dickinson punk that center from Gonzaga
Gonza is good, but creighton is making them look great. Creighton has had multiple chances to cut into the lead and missed some easy shots.
This game honestly should be inside of 10 points easily. Creighton has missed so many unforced bunnies it’s not funny
Yeah and they keep letting Gonzaga cut to the basket for wide open easy baskets.
And just like that it’s a blowout
Gonzaga is capable of winning it all but they won’t because of Michigan
I think Michigan, with Livers could give Gonzaga a great game. Maybe even beat them if we had a good shooting day. But first things first. Beat FSU.
have to say, Gonzaga looks unbeatable today...Creighton hasn't helped themselves mind you, but the zags looked very impressive
someone will have to play a perfect game to beat them based on what i've watched....or a team would have to play really well, and Gonzaga would have to make some uncharacteristic miscues
They are really good no doubt but Creighton was a great matchup for them. They play just like them but are less talented. Gonzaga needs to go against a team with a great defense and athletes similar to theirs. Oregon could give them a really good game. USC size inside might cause them some issues as well.
yeah, for sure... Creighton missed some wide open looks too, when they were on the verge to closing the gap too....
what's the saying? Styles make the matchups? It would be interesting to see if an Oregon St, Oregon or USC could disrupt Gonzaga to put them off their rhythm
If Michigan had Livers, it would be a really interesting matchup....without, it has the feeling of the NC game versus Nova, where Michigan really needed some guys to step up, like a Robinson...Until the Ginger Assassin showed up, a la Hancock with L'Ville, I thought Michigan was going to come back and win.
I didnt’t watch Gonzaga live, but the on the replay of that wide open dunk Timme literally took 4 steps.
I get that FSU is a solid team and they have a lot of length...but I swear people talk about them like they're Gonzaga with that length. They were 16-6 in a meh ACC...they're clearly beatable
It's the same with LSU - people assume Michigan is full of a bunch of try-hards who can't match up physically with other teams despite ample evidence they can. There's also this assumption that a team that went 16-6 or 11-6 in mediocre conferences are actually sleeping giants who are actually undefeated if (tiny sample size used). The height of that was UConn this year, in which them being out Bouknight for some stretch of the season meant the fact they still lost to the good teams in the Big East when he was available didn't really count.
FSU is a top-20 KenPom team - they are talented and can absolutely beat UM. But they feel like a team UM has seen before and don't have the type of 1-on-1 shotmakers that can abuse UM the way LSU did for about a half.
Commentators had a fetish with Timmey's facial hair, and during both halves of the game. A big waste of time, whether or not that the game was a blowout or not.
Gonzaga didn't have to play that well to smash Creighton. They should waltz into the Final Four at this rate.
Nevermind....it's going up and down constantly (edited post, I saw the line went down to -1.5 from -2.5 but I'm gathering the last minutes leading up to the game are creating swings one way or the other)
Herbert Jones with two offensive fouls in Alabama's first two possession. Second was a ridiculous call.
Bama is in real trouble a min in to the game.
