It seems like Funk and Hoke have a real good eye for talent, especially with the OL. I'm really glad we go on him early and that the Michigan offer brought him to tears.

I'm not even that interested in where the powers that be rank him. We've all read enough of his biography by now to know that the kid is pure class and embodies the Michigan Man. He's probably my top recruit based on his high character alone. I expect him to be successful at whatever he takes on in life, and I'd sure like it if he started that path in Ann Arbor.

Hope the staff can pull him and Poet Thomas from Country Day. Something to go with Pickens maintaining a strong DL for the future.

Is this Riley Norman kid a msu lean? I keep hearing that he could be the first to commit to sparty.

How ND continues to recruit top notch talent continues to baffle me. The kids they are recruiting weren't even alive the last time they won a meaningful game. The only time they made it to a BCS game was the year of the Bush push (a choke job on national tv) and lost to Ohio in the bowl game. The highlight of that game for Notre Dame was the fact that the cameraman kept zooming in on Brady Quinn's sister.

State of the art facilities, tradition, close-connected campus. There is a lot of appeal to Notre dame regardless of the troubles they have had.
December 28th, 2011 at 12:41 PM ^
Some people say the same thing about Michigan and how we have one national title since 1948. I hate Notre Dame, but it does have tradition and all that jazz. Plus Elmer's family is Catholic. The real reason I don't understand how they get recruits is that Kelly is an ENORMOUS douche.

That's never stopped Alabama.

you know, Nick Saban wins everywhere he goes. And he doesn't just win conference titles, but national titles.

I see what you mean
December 28th, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
Yeah they may have tradtion but no more so than UM and although UM hasn't won a lot of MNC's in the last 50 years (undefeated in 73', 10-1 in 72' & 74' no bowl games) they have won at least a share of 22 B1G Championships in that time.
December 28th, 2011 at 5:39 PM ^
Yeah, but because ND is independent, they don't even win conference titles. If they don't win national titles, they really don't win anything.
December 28th, 2011 at 1:29 PM ^
W/ Elmer, I think it was more about the school than the football program. He's a smart kid, and he loves Notre Dame (I know, seems self-contradictory). But I really doubt we pull him away from ND.
December 28th, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
His family is also Catholic so I'm sure that played a role in it as well.
December 28th, 2011 at 4:25 PM ^
The highlight of the game was Quinn's sister? You must not remember what she looks like...

Most of these guys, this class will be absolutely ridiculous. Our defense will be ridiculous. I can't wait.
December 28th, 2011 at 1:06 PM ^
will be BLUE as soon as Chucky Kelley's head explodes or he gets fired. Not sure which will happen first, but one will before 2/2013!
December 28th, 2011 at 1:11 PM ^
I'd be a little cautious with these rankings. 247sports came out with their 2013 rankings very early, and most of these kids are likely to regress to the mean in their rankings (as 247 evaluates more kids and learns more about the kids they've seen). You see evidence of that when, for example, LTT jumps from unheard of to #38 because Michigan, OSU, and ND offered. They're paying close attention to which kids we've offered, and those kids' rankings are probably a little inflated because of it. Plus, Michigan fans pay a lot of money for subscriptions like these, and we're more likely to pay when Michigan's after top targets, so their incentives are a little messy.
Still, I'm excited, because I'm sure this will be an outstanding class.

Taco Pants, gotta get this guy!
