2019 Captains
https://twitter.com/UMichFootball/status/1163566963236511745
Bredeson, Kemp, and Hudson named captains.
I am sorta surprised Shea didn't get it, but it's probably nothing.

Good choices.
August 19th, 2019 at 6:37 PM ^
Can't remember... Do coaches choose captains or do players get a say?
August 19th, 2019 at 6:56 PM ^
I read that the players still vote but Harbaugh would have some input on the final decision this year.
August 19th, 2019 at 10:35 PM ^
Disagree - choices are meh. Need more fiery guys in the captain slot.
August 20th, 2019 at 8:56 AM ^
I didn't know you need to be on fire to be a good leader.
August 20th, 2019 at 10:19 AM ^
Fire? Did you not see Khaleke during the bowl game? Many predicted he would be a Captain at that moment.
But you must have some good behind the scenes intel.
Edit: After reading this thread it appears Mongo is going for the record.

I remember when Connor Cook wasn't named captain. Folks thought that was a thing.
I'm guessing Bredeson, Kemp and Hudson have been with the program longer?

My wife briefly chatted with Carlo underneath the stadium during a youth football camp. She was impressed - seemed like a great guy with an equally impressive head on his shoulders. Not surprised at all by his captain status.
August 19th, 2019 at 6:46 PM ^
Probably a pretty good bet. He's Chuck and John Pagano's nephew.
August 19th, 2019 at 9:54 PM ^
...and he can stand up with a 4,000 pound dumbell from a laying position.
August 19th, 2019 at 10:43 PM ^
Carlos is a great teammate but he has no way earned captains status. The best players are captains. Carlos is like 8th best player on that defense. Hill should be challenged at the captain slot as he is s much better player.
August 19th, 2019 at 11:56 PM ^
CARLO
August 19th, 2019 at 10:54 PM ^
Someday being a great coach is not what we need. Carlos is a good teammate but a captain? Not a fan of this choice. Carlos is too glib / cerebral. We need a smash-mouth mother fucker who can tell the rest of the team to f-ing KILL OSU. And f-ing mean it.
August 20th, 2019 at 11:29 AM ^
Mongo, you wet the bed on this one. Clean up your mess and go to sleep.
August 20th, 2019 at 4:21 PM ^
MONGOS
August 19th, 2019 at 11:11 PM ^
We have a coaching staff that makes like $15 million per year. At captain we need a senior fiery mother fucker who can lead by example. Player coaches are not needed. Give me a guy who can get the players to KILL OSU ... NOW.
August 20th, 2019 at 7:57 AM ^
Shut up already.
Oh, and it's Carlo.
C-A-R-L-O.
Maybe learn the guy's name before you trash him all over this space.
August 20th, 2019 at 3:35 PM ^
I forgot, the rest of the team becomes a collection of mutes once captains are picked! Silly me.
We are so screwed. Where do we find the voices that were silenced?! Where is Don Brown?! Where is the rest of the staff?! Oh dear!
August 19th, 2019 at 6:23 PM ^
Cook was the heart and soul of that team. From an outsider perspective he seemed like the spiritual leader, almost like a Jim Jones type. I don't think Shea has that same kind of outspoken personality. Just my opinion.
August 19th, 2019 at 8:07 PM ^
notice how you never saw jim jones and connor cook in the same room? and their names, alliterations, both of them. coincidence? and if you didn't know any better, doesn't it look like he's practicing his 'push archie griffin out of the way' maneuver?
August 19th, 2019 at 6:36 PM ^
That WAS a thing, as he was there for FIVE years and the worst-kept secret in EL was he was disliked.
August 19th, 2019 at 7:49 PM ^
That's weird... Disliked in AA as well.
Huh...
August 19th, 2019 at 9:36 PM ^
Even the Lions disliked him and cut his sorry ass!
August 19th, 2019 at 7:09 PM ^
I found it peculiar he was not at the Big Ten media day.
The difference with Shea and Conner is more about Shea probably not being a big weight room and off season guy where Conner is just an arrogant d bag.
Shea has the respect of his teammates.
August 19th, 2019 at 8:08 PM ^
Starting QB has the mantle of leadership and you know Shea has been doing it. It's less about that and more about elevating other guys to leadership roles as well.
August 19th, 2019 at 5:56 PM ^
Too much golfing.
August 19th, 2019 at 8:20 PM ^
Too much posting on MgoBlog under that name, I think it was "mineral king" or something LOL

Horace G. Prettyman. That’s a good name right there.
August 19th, 2019 at 6:16 PM ^
He played 8 seasons here from 1882-1890 (ages 25-33). Also played 4 different positions in "rusher", "forward", tackle and center.
August 19th, 2019 at 6:19 PM ^
8 seasons? 25-33? Consider me confused.
August 19th, 2019 at 6:21 PM ^
*9 seasons argh
August 19th, 2019 at 7:15 PM ^
Oddly enough, that is still the current number of eligible seasons for players at msu (this is largely due to the rigorous undergraduate curriculum which requires twice as long to complete as a standard University).
August 19th, 2019 at 11:00 PM ^
Redlock seasons don't count against standard ncaa eligibility in east landfill. Given this mork created loophole, ∞ eligibility is a real possibility.
August 19th, 2019 at 7:45 PM ^
Shhh, does the NCAA know? Are we gonna have to put the banners from those years in storage? Put asterisks next to the yearly records?
August 19th, 2019 at 8:13 PM ^
In the 1800's, there was no such thing as the NCAA.
August 19th, 2019 at 6:36 PM ^
I’d imagine guys playing 8 years until they are 33 is part of why people don’t weight wins from then the same was wins from last year in program rankings
August 19th, 2019 at 7:03 PM ^
Come on. History is history. You can't pick and choose. I am sure many of them played for the fun of it and were proud. It was not a business like it is now. Neither is good or bad. Just the way things were.
August 19th, 2019 at 8:52 PM ^
I could care less about those people. They have something to hide because their team has a losing record against mine.
August 19th, 2019 at 10:27 PM ^
Could also play "bludger" and "seeker".
August 19th, 2019 at 11:03 PM ^
Ahh, the Devin Bush of old timey football.
August 19th, 2019 at 6:55 PM ^
Well, pretty good.
August 19th, 2019 at 9:25 PM ^
Am I the only one who thinks that Horace G Prettyman sounds like British slang for dick?
August 20th, 2019 at 10:11 AM ^
Sounds like a BAMF
August 19th, 2019 at 6:29 PM ^
Wow. Four of last five multi-year captains have been OL.
#baseball stat
August 19th, 2019 at 9:11 PM ^
55 years between Goetz and Lewis. That's quite a gap. I wonder if there was a one and done policy there.
August 19th, 2019 at 6:02 PM ^
James Hudson?
/S!
