There is something about being the biggest that is appealing.  I want to have an athletic 360 pound average line and a 400 pound Faalele helps with that.

In 1989 people used to talk about Michigan being the first O-line to average over 300 pounds.  I don't know if that is true or not, but I think 360 is an admirable goal.

Edit:  Here is the article mentioned above showing the IMG team mate's picks.

It sounds like, and this is just my guess, he would commit if we gave him a real offer. This article points out he might not be a take at this point because of how large (pun intended) project he would be and we will be pursing better candidates for the time being. I would still love to see this behemoth in blue though.

Since Filiaga, Stueber, and Honigford are just now on campus getting ready to begin their first college practices they could be waiting to see what they have on the roster before making that kind of decision. If they already have a few projects they may not want another, intriguing as he is.

And he doesn't do much or any interviews and you don't hear much about him and the coaches talking. I think there is either an understanding between him and the staff that they will evaluate him after he plays some or he could be a silent commit(??).

Even though he is huge. #dadjokesbutnotyetadad

We have a few guys, Honigford and Steuber especially, that are exactly the build that Frey likes for tackles. We took two more of those guys in the 2018 class. Other than the fact that Faalele is enormous, I'm not sure I see the appeal. I worry that he'd be the largest guy on the sideline for 5 years.

I think thats the fear from the coaching staff as well IMO. If he hasnt committed by the beginning of this season, I could see a ton of power 5 schools jumping on him if he shows even the smallest flash of talent this year. Almost worth taking a chance on him early in an effort to lock him up though. That size man....

NOBODY send any thank you cards after the BBQ, just to be doubly cautious.  Thank everyone in person, orally.  Then give them a commemorative thank you plaque, no names inscribed thereon, before they leave.

I'm with taking Faalele.  I get he's a project but what a project.  He's at IMG so he's getting some of the best high school coaching out there and they can get his feet wet.  Some OL sit for a few years before seeing the field anyway.  Between what he'll learn between the coaching and elite high school competition this year, then letting Frey work his magic for a few years, I think he's well worth a flyer offer.  I can only imagine a line potentially featuring Faalele, Filiaga, Onwenu, and Ruiz.  Forget throwing the ball just hand it off every time.
