2017 rally towel giveaway (photos)

There will be two promotional giveaways this season.

The first 10,000 students for the home opener vs Cincinnati will get these towels-

The first 15,000 students will get these at the game vs MSU

I hate to hijack an apparel thread, but does anyone know where I can get a newborn onesie of the "Worst State Ever" shirt? The mgostore only has it in 6 months. My daughter is coming in November and I would be devastated if she couldn't wear one home from the hospital.

My wife was also born in Ohio. In fact she was born at the OSU medical center. Her father, an OSU grad and YUGE Buckeye fan, also happened to be a raging alcoholic who abused the shit out of her and her siblings so she now hates Ohio, OSU, and everything relating to that awful place more than anyone I've ever known. This is why I'm allowed to make this decision for our daughter.

Having lived in Ohio for a few years now (and visited many times before then), I can honestly say there are many fine people here as well as many complete... less-than fine persons. Just like any other state. However, those that choose to support OSU, knowing very well there are other, better choices available, are either fools or else doing it out of obligation. There are many UM alums, students and supporters from Ohio, so I would not over generalize.

True, true. As much as we trash on ohio, most of my best friends are from the state (went to college at the cincy conservatory of music). My friends are the worst kind of osu fans.  They don't watch one game, or know the names of three players on the team, but talk all sorts of trash before THE GAME. I let them know that they are the worst.

I kind of like the pom poms. The atmosphere was great with those. I don't know if things like pom poms or towels are costly to make but 15,000 towels isn't going to show up on tv. You're going to need like 80,000 and I'd rather save them for bigger games than Cincinnati.

This was fun against Nebraska in 2011 (I still have my towel from that game), and a "Beat State" givaway of any kind is cool, but the equation is simple:

Night Games= Pom Poms

It's just so much cooler and better that way, plus we are 3-0 at night with them.

 

Not opposed to rally towels as a whole by any means, but it doesn't feel right to not have that look for Michigan Stadium at night.

Also, since this giveaway is students only, I think we should start a movement to bring our own old Pom Poms to the night game.

Pom poms make the stadium look best and improve the atmosphere, better for recruiting and public perception. 

 

The current AD has gotten rid of them for some non-reason. Which is particularly hypocritical given nearly every promotional photo we use of the stadium is from a pom pom game. Guess we'll still be using photos from 2010-2013 20 years from now. 

 

These towels are a waste of money. When we got towels as students people didn't take them or threw them down. Nearly everyone took a pom pom.
