It's not like tOSU hasn't made a decade and a half of covering up for athletes in the most egregious of circumstances. Hell, it would take me a while to type it. Any read of that content over years has been nothing but tOSU apologism from tOSU media from 11W and Ramzy to Rivals etc.

You're inferring I'm skeptical because I'm from a rival fanbase? Srsly. Maybe it's just your institutional history...

I'm not surprised to see you add to that narrative...

My point is rival fans are predisposed to view the other side's dirty laundry in the most negative light possible. It is what it is.
I imagine Cal fans look at negative stuff Stanford does with extreme skepticism strictly because Stanford is their rival, despite Stanford's "clean" reputation.
A program having its coach try to cover up his QB profiting off his own likeness isn't analogous to the current situation in really any way other than the school colors, so drawing skepticism based off that history strikes me as rival-bias. Which is fine, this is a Michigan blog after all.

consent to have sex and consent to take and send a video of sex is not the same thing. it is very much harassment if someone takes a video of you and posts it when you have not given them consent to do so. Even if their reasoning for turning you in is pretty shallow, it's even more shallow to send a vid like that to what undoubtedly is hundreds (if not thousands, given his status as highly ranked osu recruit) of followers on snapchat. Even if she knew he was recording it, if she thought it was because he was going to date her that's understandable, especially if she was not aware that it was a snapchat. there's a big difference there. this punishment is warranted.

I would think that since it is the university's decision, he can disagree with it all he wants and their informing him is a mere formality. Considering that Gibson was supposed to be in the mix potentially at WR, that blows for Urban in that sense. Still, it's interesting that he would go out there an openly disagree like that. I wonder if he simply wanted input and didn't like just being told what the decision was - he seems a bit like the type that would bristle at that even if he did disagree.

So not just grades, but likely some sort of academic cheating or something along those lines. He won't be in school for the Fall semester, not just off the team.

Talking with some OSU people, they were excited about his upside, but he still wasn't there yet. Had maturity issues as a RS, seemed to fix some of them, and then this happened, so we'll see how that ends up. He wasn't in the top 6 group, so guys like Mack (a true FR) were playing ahead of him already. But still, it was a position group that was expected to rotate fairly heavily. Will be interesting if he cleans things up, and if he actually does so at OSU.

Will this be the beginning of the end of Urbz at OSU?  Could this fracture his relationship with administrators and chase him to the NFL?  Is Oakland already in play?

Out of Athens, yes, but I don't recall Harbaugh (or Hoke) recruiting him at all, let alone, going after him hard.  Malzone was in the fold forever, and Gentry committed toward the end of the cycle.  Burrow didn't have a Michigan offer and his timeline doesn't show visits by either party.  His best other offers were VaTech, WVU, UC, and Minny.

You do realize that these rules are broken at almost every school out there, right? Including our own?

Doesn't make it right, but for guys like Taylor Lewan, Brendan Gibbons, and LTT to have come through here and did what they did, I don't think Michigan has any right to claim some moral superiority.

Maybe like our highly recruited kids he is having issues adjusting to a program and the eyes that are on him. Seems many kids are used to getting away with everything in their little home communities and once they get on campus things get back to coaches who can't risk not moving on them for fear of the Media getting ahold of the info.

on reddit posted a screen capture from a rivals mod that it pertained to allegations over a video he took of a 'hookup'

If I were Urban Meyer I would be upset too. Hernandez got to shoot at people at UF and still play, so I'm sure Meyer disagrees with punishing someone for much less .

Eh, he's not even listed as a top 6 in their WR depth.  Wake me up when one of their starters is suspended.

The rumor floating around is that Gibson posted a booty picture of a girl he was consensually hooking up with and when he didn't make her his girlfriend, she reported him to the school for the picture. I'm guessing with everything going down at Baylor, the university decided to be heavy-handed in their punishment.

Not that I'm sorry we won't have to face him in November, but if that's true he doesn't deserve a suspension.

Maybe an internal scolding from Meyer about needing to use some common sense with not taking "booty shots," and running the stairs for a day, but if that's all there is to the story, that does not merit a suspension.
