Chase young had stretch right before his suspension over the last two years combined where he had one Sack or more in a game 95% of the games
His sacks per game average is one of the highest in college football history. Sorry but that's legendary stuff there unlesss Brown is the next Suh which I'm highly doubting

College stats aren't the only thing that determines whether someone is going to be a good pro or not. I've watched film on both and I just see more of an impact from Brown. Not saying Young is bad, but Brown seems much harder to neutralize. If Young was in last years draft, I would probably rate him the 3rd best DE behind Bosa and Allen. Maybe even behind Oliver depending on what you are looking for out of a DE and what you considered Oliver to be.

Didn't say stats were but those numbers likely indicate he has an elite ability to get to the quarterback as they are off the charts good
He had the much more dominant season among those two players this year from nearly every reputable source I've read.
That's why the guy actually had some heisman talk behind him. Many felt he played his dominance this year was only outdone the past decade by ndamukong suh last season at Nebraska.

And at one point in time they were down to the 3rd string QB and/or 3rd string RB. I'm not sure if any team is equipped to handle that much loss of personnel, but the Lions are definitely not one of those teams.
Understand that this is not an excuse, as I am not sure the season would have played out much different with all starters, but it doesn't help.
The team needs more talent to compete, so bring on a top 3 pick!

Steelers also ruin their one chance going to the top 10 this year and gets a franchise quarterback for the future they desperately needed instead they traded first round pick in middle of the year to be pretenders. Now they have no pick and a nearly 40 year old qb on his last leg.
Nearly all of their wins were against 6 win teams or less this year. They had no shot the minute Big Ben went down and they should have raised the white flag.

Doesn't mean that the Steelers don't make mistakes and in this particular instance they decided going for it this year with awful qbs was smarter than not WASTING your 1st round pick that could set your franchise up for the next decade at a position of great need and importance for them. Not to mention having a qb for 4 or 5 years on rookie deal is by far the best asset in the NFL as it makes it incredibly easier to build a winning team in the future. They blew that chasing some pipe dream of being mediocre instead of accepting the fact season ending injuries to 25 million dollar qbs means wave the white flag
If Lions would have done same in middle of season to try and win few more extra games it would have been every bit as stupid. Thankfully they didn't.

In game coaching is my single biggest issue with them this year. Good game planning, they generally start well, but the Lions don't seem to have any answers to their opponents in-game adjustments other than wing it with Stafford.
As much crap as we give Quinn for taking a tight end in the first round, their is no way this team looks even remotely competent 3 years ago with all the injuries we've had. He's done well building depth. The Lions have only been blown out in 1 game all year. Not bad for 3 wins. That's just poor coaching not talent evaluation.

The Steelers traded their best RB and WR in the off season and then lost their starting QB, best rusher, and best receiver for extended periods and were still in the playoff hunt until the final week. Good franchises find ways to overcome injuries.

It is the injuries that show you one of the most glaring shortcomings of the current front office management in Allen Park. The Steelers, as others have mentioned, were down just about everyone and were still in it because they have serviceable depth on the roster. Good teams with good management and football savvy can do that. Thus far, Bob Quinn has shown himself hard-pressed to build such a roster.

The L's started 2-0-1, then suffered last possession losses at home against the Chiefs and at Green Bay. Then the wins against the Chargers and Eagles turned out to be less of an achievement than they seemed at the time.

What does it say about the game where they out played number 1 nfc seed Green Bay in Lambeau and had it stolen from them? Or how the kansas City game they led most of way and were a 4th down scramble from winning.
They were just as mediocre this year with Stafford as they were in any of the past seasons. He's arguably one of the most valuable players in the league esp this year because he's replaced by a rookie free agent at the most important position in the game.

I actually have to give the SOL a little credit. Usually they would finish the season with 3 meaningless wins to drop from 3rd to 12th in the draft. Not this year. No doubt they will screw up the draft but at least they don't have much of an excuse this time.

They lost the guy that had the most percentage of salary cap of any player this year in the NFL. That usually will cripple a team especially a mediocre one.
Best thing they did was not win another game after he went out as all that would have done is made things more difficult in the future.

Steelers also decided to trade their number one draft pick in the middle of the season to make a run at it this year and tighten up their defense.
Sure was a great idea to get yourself to the mediocre eight or nine wins but they were never a serious Contender and they just lost out on a top 10 pick And a franchise quarterback. No team is going to make any noise when they lose a quarterback at this level smart thing to do is stop trying to win. Now the Steelers have an old quarterback and no first round pick.

Im over 50 and it seems every draft night the Lions are all over the map.sometimes not really knowing what direction they are going in.Seems easy to me (when you have a horrible team) you need to make 1-2 groups outstanding and just have avg guys at the other spots and you will have a 9-10 win team every year.
Like this year Take Okudah 3rd the with pick overall,with pick 35 you take the best safety ,then pick 67 take LeVert Hill .. there you have a deep secondary for 8-10 years with Slay (already top 5 in NFL) Okudah (a cant miss guy,who should be a pro bowl type guy for 10 years) with some now nice depth with L Hill and 2 safeties that were drafted in round 2 ... you still have 7 more picks this draft to fill holes.then next yr you take like 5-6 DL/Linebackers ...bam in two drafts you have a top notch defense...forget this lets take a chance on a TE that is great vs college safties,or trying to take one of everything every draft ...
make a few areas great every year, easy as hell

And the biggest reason they both to 8 wins was they went for when they were 1-4 and traded away their 1st round pick. Sure they were bound to be better thid year after that trade. That doesn't mean they didn't make a major mistake here. And it was proven by how things played out this year. They made a monumental mistake and has zero do with Lions either. No doubt they have a better franchise and roster than Detroit but losing a 25 million qb means major regression and they instead tried to get to mediocre, mission accomplished I guess yippee!
Thy could have easily fallen into a top 10 picks and set up their franchise for the next decade by just playing things out instead they blew this big chance by going for despite evidence they were not close to be good teamv and now have no 1st round pick. If Lions would have done same thing to tighten their roster I would say same thing.
Getting a rookie QB on rookie deal is by far the easiest way to build a team in today's NFL. Kansas City Philadelphia Seattle during their Dynasty years Baltimore. These guys are major assets. Steelers bungled this up and my point was they shouldn't be complemented for trading away their 1st rounder to win few more meaningless games, what they did they should be criticized. This likely set there franchise back a lot in thr long-term.
