In a previous practice that was attended by the media - they made note that Stonum was in the #1 jersey on the scout team.

Stonum is the #1 scout team WR. It's been discussed a few times. No biggie though.

ethier gallon or hemmingway. only 2 that would make any sence and mostly hemmingway.

Haven't seen the latest episode, but I know previously this season Stonum has worn #1 for the scout team.

Stonum wears #1 in practice to signify opposing teams' #1 receiver

Maybe Denard will wear it regardless of being or not being a WR.

Goddammit, it's Hemingway. One M. Like, you know, the school's logo: M.

But Goodness how great would Stonum be for Denard this year? I cant wait for that deep threat speedster next season!

seriously people, if somebody was wearing the #1 jersey, you shouldn't even HAVE to ask who it is. if there is a question about who it would be, etc. they shouldn't be wearing the jersey. eventually someone will develop/arrive that deserves the #1, but NOBODY deserves it now, not by a long shot
October 4th, 2011 at 4:29 AM ^
Whether it's Denard fault, Borges or the WR's, no WR deserves the #1. That Jersey means dominance, and I havent seen a WR on the roster with that potential so far...

I wouldn't worry about this until we actually see #1 on the field during a game

It was funny hearing people claim he should get the jersey upon arrival here. He's a great athlete, which has somewhat made up for his flaws as a natural receiver (poor adjustment to downfield balls, etc). It's great he's been allowed to remain on the team while paying his penance, hopefully he will have himself a great career in the NFL or elsewhere.

If Junior was a sophomore or junior, I could see giving him the jersey in the future but I'm not sure he's on the level Braylon was yet. Gallon still has strides to be made, seeing as how he was a border-line scout player last year. Stonum has had too rocky of a past to come in and steal the #1 jersey for his Senior year.
Finally, if the other team has a player that wears #1 and starts on O or D, you'll see the #1 jersey in practice. Coach Hoke made a pretty solid point that #1, #2, and #21 will from here on out be very difficult to earn and are no small feat. I doubt we'll ever see a mid-season change to these.

Blake Countess should get the #2 if he puts in the work this off season...if not next year, his junior year after Vince Smith departs.
We don't have anyone on the roster worthy of #1. Hopefully Payton or Darboh or Powe can be that guy.
Maybe another one of those guys can be the next #21.
I'd also like #77 to be sacred, Jake Long should get the next patch since Taylor Lewan has earned that number. The in 2 years we can do #2 since by that time Countess will be a Junior. Hopefully in 3 years you can do #1 since those incoming freshman would be juniors.
Ah, it all comes together.
If JiBreel Black goes off I wouldn't be opposed to a #55 for Brandon Graham...or a #56 for LaMarr Woodley
Lastly, the #1 patch should be Braylon and AC IMO...not one or the other.

Does it bother anyone that the font of the numbers on the helmet doesn't match the Block font of the numbers on the jersey. I like the numbers, I would just like some uniformity with them. HOWEVER, the block number font wouldn't look good on the helmet, the squared off touch would conflict with the sharp curves of the wings.

And the patch is gigantic. It looks terrible. A small D.H. patch would be perfect. David Brandon is starting to piss me off.
