Game Day Weather

Submitted by mgoweather on September 19th, 2019 at 11:37 AM

Who's excited for this game?! I was apparently - super excited for it lol! After 10 years of doing this, if that's the worst mistake I've made, I'll take it :) And hey, thanks to all of you for being so dedicated you checked it out on an off week! I'm camping in the boonies of no cell service land, so this week all I've got for you is a quickie (y'all get your minds out of the gutter!) while I have a signal. While under the warm front for now, a strong cold front moving through will bring scattered showers and storms to the forecast for Saturday.

We'll have a warm and muggy day with morning temps around 70 rising to the upper 70s in the afternoon. It'll be breezy too, with southerly winds at 15-20mph gusting to 30mph (small trees sway, empty garbage cans may tip over) - ugh can we go back to last week's weather? Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible, so if you're tailgating or headed to the game bring the poncho, but more importantly - please stay aware and be prepared for possible delays. We'll stay windy through the evening with temps falling to around 70 for last call. Rain chances linger into Sunday with lighter winds.

Here at home, Saturday actually looks alright! Some clouds with rain holding off until later in the day into Sunday. Afternoon temps will make it to the mid 80s! Let's go blue!!!

I don't like the rain or wind gusts.  Can you kindly update the forecast to remove those?  Will gladly trade 20 deg of temp next week for no wind or rain this week.

K? Thx...

Looks like a run run run option day.

I'm about as excited as a break out 150+ yd performance is probable for Charbonnet.

Great stage for statement game with all eyes on Taylor.

May all Zach's blockers play through the whistle.

Let's Go Blue!

Christina, I hope your campsite is not in one of the counties listed in this article!!

https://www.mlive.com/news/kalamazoo/2019/09/michigan-advises-against-outdoor-activity-due-to-deadly-mosquito-borne-virus.html?outputType=amp&__twitter_impression=true

The eight counties included in the advisory are: Barry, Berrien, Cass, Genesee, Kalamazoo, Lapeer, St. Joseph and Van Buren.

Either way, load up on insect repellent!

Los Angeles native; 2003 grad. Always try to make one game a year. This is the one! My mom (an Ohio native) and wife (LA native) are both Badgers, and I grew up watching Wisconsin football through the 1990's, which was a very good time to do so. Saw them defeat UCLA in 1994 and though my allegiances completely changed in 1999, still saw them beat Stanford at the Rose Bowl that season (shortly before rushing home to watch Tom Brady and David Terrell take down Alabama).

Let's hope for no rain. I'll always remember that 1999 game between undefeated Michigan and Purdue, and Jr. Drew Brees was already probably the best QB in the country. Was very happy for the steady rain that afternoon!

The wind will be a bigger factor, south 15-25 gusts 30-35 MHP. I'm not sure if the field is N-S or E-W in Madison? But if it is a N-S field we better throw more when we are marching up the field to the north. The latest HRRR ( high resolution rapid refresh model) only show isolated showers or may be a weak isolated storm in the first half but these should move out during the 2nd QTR. The severe thunderstorms will remain well west across central MN. You can get the hourly runs of the HRRR, everything is in UTC, so , 17Z - 12 NOON CDT and 21Z would be 4 PM CDT. You can check the HRRR model here, every hour. https://www.pivotalweather.com/model.php?m=hrrr&p=refcmp_uh001h&rh=2019092104&fh=17&r=us_mw&dpdt=&mc=
