Denard Robinson Action Figure - BigTen POY Special Edition
Last night Denard Robinson was named the 2010 BigTen Offensive Player of the Year. Coaches and members of the media agreed that one of the nation's most explosive players was worthy of the conference's top offensive honor.
Earlier this season I created the Denard Robinson Action Figure, Heisman Trophy Candidate Edition (but not really real, lawyers). I made some modifications to the original artwork to give the action figure a "legendary" feel and to commemorate Denard Robinson's stellar season; the modifications include sepia tone on the cardboard packaging, a platinum football and special edition text.
As happy as I was with the Ohio State wallpaper, after another embarrassing loss in The Game I'd much rather see this on my desktop until the bowl game destination and opponent are announced. Once I know to which sunny location Michigan is headed (and who they'll be facing) I'll get started on a series of wallpapers for the lead-up to the game.

I'm speechless too. Thanks.

The suspense building from your blank post is killing me!

Totally accidental blank post. Sorry to disappoint. It was an unforced user error.

monuMental,
I really hope you've found a way to receive payment for your talents. This stuff is too good to be doing strictly pro bono.
November 30th, 2010 at 11:41 AM ^
I know Cracked.com pays for photoshops. He should definitely be doing some work there.

Thanks aaamichfan. This is purely a fun, personal project for me so as cheesy as it sounds, the best payment is knowing that other Michigan fans enjoy the artwork. Also, I got some unwanted attention from a lawyer representing the University of Michigan a few months back who thought I was manufacturing Denard Robinson Action Figures so I have to be sure to remain very clear about the personal, not-for-profit nature of the artwork.

I want one of these sooooo bad.

I will agree to invest $100 right here and now if you undertake the effort it will take to get some of these action figures made!

Amazing how realistic it is. I was at the Mden on friday and I overheard this mother and kid, the kid maybe was 10, who were looking for the Denard action figure. The Mden employee of course said they didn't have it.
I felt so bad, I wanted to run over to her and say it doesn't exist. Stop worrying about finding something that didnt exist. Alas, I didn't want to shout in the store and run over 5 people as the Mom and son immediately exited the store.

That's the best story I've heard about the wallpapers all season, though I feel bad that the kid was disappointed.

As always I love your work. Keep it up and I can't wait to see the bowl game wallpaper.

Good work! If only the action figure were real, I'd be placing it on my Christmas list and hoping Santa placed it in my (39-year-old) stocking on Christmas morning... Where I might also have to break out the old Star Wars action figures from my youth, paint an Ohio State uniform on Darth Vader, and bring Denard into imaginary battle against the dark side of the force while we all await word from Dave Brandon...

I have a 2-year-old son and have started stockpiling Star Wars figures just in case he's interested in 5 years. If not, I get to play with them myself! Hahaha.
November 30th, 2010 at 2:38 PM ^
Haha! This sounds like a good plan to me, for your son and... for you too!
December 6th, 2010 at 9:42 AM ^
That's a good idea. I did the same for my kids and they both ended up loving Star Wars.

This is the best thing to have appeared on MGoBlog in at least a week. I know the bar isn't too high, but still...

You da man.

does communism support such action figures?
November 30th, 2010 at 7:23 PM ^
how can the comrades complain?
November 30th, 2010 at 12:20 PM ^
Speachless. Ar they selling these at Meijer?
November 30th, 2010 at 12:24 PM ^
My favorite part is the Warning on the side. "Warning- small parts move fast and may leave defenders gasping for air."
November 30th, 2010 at 1:21 PM ^
how'd you decide it was for ages 4+ ?
great job though!, i'm truly amazed, and wish to purchase 14 instantly, one for every michigan victory next year! (big ten championship+national championship)
December 6th, 2010 at 9:37 AM ^
4+ was the age listed on the packaging for the Tom Brady action figure I used as the starting point.
November 30th, 2010 at 2:30 PM ^
If I were a dedicated person, I would draw this up in CAD and send it through the rapid prototyper and paint it. I am not dedicated.
November 30th, 2010 at 5:26 PM ^
Best one yet.
November 30th, 2010 at 7:26 PM ^
But obviously not too classy for Denard.

Also, can we expect any of these at any point in the off-season?
December 6th, 2010 at 9:35 AM ^
Yes, I will be designing at least one wallpaper this off season.
