Another Northwestern Wallpaper

Submitted by cjm on

I was pretty certain Blue Indy would, once again, have his act together before me.  He has his weekly wallpaper up for the Northwestern game and you can see it just a couple diaries below (or click here.)  I was thinking he would do something cool with a cat-like theme and I was leaning towards a different direction so it should provide some good variety.

Northwestern is the only private institution in the B1G and well known as a top level research university. Their many areas of research include Astrophysics, Solar Energy, Nanotechnology, and they have done a lot of work with epilepsy and neuropathic pain.

What many do not know is that there is a secret laboratory on campus that is solely designed to study the element known as, Dilithium.  They desire to harness this element in hopes to use it in making their football program better.  The process is inspired by the poster hanging on the wall and gives them hope that this can be accomplished.

I created two different looks because I just was not sure if I wanted a darker or lighter pallete.

The darker one first:

And now the lighter version which I think I like best:

ONE MORE WEEK till monuMental shows his greatness in a rivalry wallpaper vs MSU.

I'm pretty sure "Be Like 'Dang'" is the key ingredient they're missing for the Dilithium formula in the lighter version.

Great wallpapers. You and Blue Indy are giving us some tough choices.

There is too much 'background noise' in the darker palette ... lot more going on.

The light palette is cleaner and clearer in terms of the message it is trying to deliver. Love the concept though. It will certainly appeal to the more academic.

I envision this rivalry as Kellogg v/s Ross wallpaper (two of the more famous B-schools in America) where Ross's shadow extends over Kellogg's with Denard and Persa standing atop each building. But that's just me.

Love the creativity! :D  I made some wallpaper as well that I actually posted here on Saturday night, but since I can't create new threads yet, they just got buried in the abyss in some random thread... : (

~4mb zip file(two versions each of 1920x1200 and 1600x1200):

Enjoy!  : )

I love putting these on my phone during game week. I have no idea how hard these are to resize. If its relatively easy would you consider releasing wallpapers formated for android phones?

These look awesome anyway and I add them to my computer all the time.

Thanks

What's important is the resolution of your phone's screen, not whether it's an android, iphone, etc.  There are tons of android phones, with varying screen sizes, so it would be impractical to cater the wallpapers to every possible screen size.  Another problem is that you are working with a much smaller canvas; sometimes you might have to sacrifice an element of the work, or maybe even have to completely overhaul your idea to get it to "look good" at such a smaller size.  Either way, also not very practical...

But there is hope... :D

In the event you have a wallpaper that wouldn't suffer too much from being shrunk so much, after you ascertain what resolution your phone's screen is, you can download any of the free image editors(Gimp, etc.), and shrink and/or crop it to that size on your own without having to be a genius at image editing.  With the one I posted above here, that wouldn't really work because the text parts would be wholly-unreadable, but the test tube one might work, and that eagle from EMU week comes to mind as possibly a good candidate for such an avenue.

Hope this helps; good luck!
