Little brother is all growd up now......so big brother can either sit back and be proud or try to learn from little brother. Little brother obviously runs great schemes on O and D, has great game plans and play calls, makes sound adjustments, has superior strength and conditioning and even has an obviously quality QB coach......and on and on........ despite far lower rated talent. Perhaps Michigan's AD wants to be competitive and will make some changes, perhaps not. At any rate it was fun rooting for little brother and watching him do good........Furthermore, the season tickets will be much less expensive!

Not at all. Here are the highly ranked players according to Rivals left over from the 2009-2011 classes (the pinnacle of MSU recruiting):

Max Bullough (4-star)

Isaiah Lewis (4-star)

Blake Treadwell (4-star)

You have a couple other guys who contribute nothing (Andrew Maxwell). Here are the guys left over from Michigan's 2009-2011 classes:

Taylor Lewan (4-star)

Jeremy Gallon (4-star)

Michael Schofield (4-star)

Cam Gordon (4-star)

Fitz Toussaint (4-star)

Quinton Washington (4-star, though at OL)

Devin Gardner (4-star)

Blake Countess (4-star)

Brennen Beyer (4-star)

Raymon Taylor (4-star)

See, its only at Michigan where you MUST have a fully loaded veteran team that is teeming with highly rated players coming out of HS to succeed. According to certain knowledgeable posters at MGoBlog, coaching has almost nothing to do with anything (unless its success, then it is all coaching), its all about waiting for that perfect year when talent and experience meet and then you can hope for a 9-3 season. Coaches (at least the coaches hired by Brady Hoke and especially offensive coaches) can have ZERO negative effect on a team. After all, all they can do is call plays and if the players can't execute them...

However, you can't just take #'s and spit em out. Honestly you'd be kidding yourself if you didn't realize:
The msu players that are 4, 3, 2 star guys (all good players) have been under the same coaches, coaching the same system for 7 years and were recruited by the coaches they played there entire careers for. To throw out the last 5-7 years at michigan as if it's been solid is just not correct. High ranks or not, players have watched wholesale coaching changes and system changes, the coaches who recruited those kids aren't there (try not to say "Fred Jackson!" C'mon you know what I mean). The majority of the michigan upperclass were recruited by different guys for a different style of game (which doesn't work really well in the big10). So, yes, the # ranks, sure but to be fair you have to snapshot both schools since both of those upperclasses have been there. Then you see how important coaching is, and stability in coaching more importantly. I believe Hoke is the right guy and hope he stays for years to come. Go Blue!

So Ohio State isn't 12-1 (24-1 in two years with one Big Ten loss) running a similar style of play using players that weren't recruited for Urban Meyer's scheme? Good players are good players. Good coaches make use of good players.

You said that MSU's upperclassmen were higher ranked than Michigan's upperclassmen. This is a false statement. I proved it was false. You then went off on something about coaching stability, which I agree with, but doesn't mean there is an "asterisk" attached to my post. You were wrong. I was right.

we saw Michigan in a December Bowl, they lost to the worst college coach of all time, Bill Callahan.

So it only makes sense that this time they'll beat the best coach of all time?

Lots of bitching and whining, I see.  We went 7-5, it's not like we were holding out hope for an Orange Bowl at-large invite.  I hate spoiled fanbases who think they're too good to play Kansas State in December, which is not a bad matchup itself.  We've never played KSU, so that alone makes it interesting.  To me, anyway.  Not sure about the New-Years-Day-or-I-don't-care set.

I don't really know what I was hoping for, but this wasn't it, that's for sure. I was hoping at least to play a pro-style teams because the spread has given our D fits all year. This matchup worries me.

I think its a good bowl draw as they are playing a team they can beat.  The other bowl frequently mentioned that M might get was the Gator against Georgia-a team that underperformed and was hampered by injuries that will surely have some of their talent back for the bowl game.  Nebraska gets to play Georgia and its not a good draw for Bo P as he will likely end this season with a loss. I think the BgTn teams got shuffled down a notch when bucky lost their chance for the NC game.  M on the other hand will be out of the limelight and can work on improving their young players and build for next season.

Also, what better motivation for M than to watch a bunch of hardworking lightly recruited 3 star players get all the glory.  I cannot imagine the M coaches and players are enjoying the sparty party thats been going on.  I can tell you all my MSU friends (yes I admit it, I have spartan friends) are having fun with the little brother and junior varsity comments and I'M not likin it at all, so I can't imagine the players/coaches are either.  Hopefully it will light a fire and we will see some improvement in the bowl game and next season!

Gotta love the comments here.  In sum, "Man we suck.  Shit end to a shit season.  Was hoping we could play LSU or Georgia roughly a 200 miles from their respective campuses."

What the fuck?  Yeah, I'm really bummed we don't get to play a home game against against a team that would be a 14 point favorite.  Was hoping I'd get to see that.

And notice the inconsistency.  It would be one thing if the comments were simply homerism about us rising up and beating, say, LSU.  What we have here are comments about how crap the team is, combined with a desire to play much stronger competition.  Just bizarre.

Sparty loses 3 out of 5 O-line and 4 Offensive starters Sparty loses 2 out of 3 D-line and 6 D starters Bucky loses 4 out of 5 O-line , and 6 Offensive starters (including RB Carlos Hyde) Bucky only loses both starting safeties from the D ALSO Dantonio in his 3rd season in Lansing went 6-7 losing their bowl, the following season sparty went 11-2. Dantonio didn’t face as much fan-base criticism due to the overshadowing media attention on Michigan’s 2009 5-7 season. Urban Meyer in his 3rd season at Florida went 9-3 and lost their bowl game (to Michigan of course), the following season went 13-1 and won a 2nd NC title. Not that these comparisons ensure that Michigan will post similar improvements next year, however the 4th year seems to be a time when “new” coaches become established as they are now deploying mostly kids they have recruited for their system.
