There's a weird scenario where Michigan can go 1989 basketball championship style.
Like David and Alex said, Michigan State winning the Big Ten tournament could bump them to a one seed and Michigan could join them in the regional.
This would allow Michigan to beat State for a Frozen Four berth like Michigan prevailed against Illinois (although Michigan won in the national semifinal back in the basketball glory days).
