1. Sign Stealing Scandal-Like Substance
starts at the top
It's funny but also not funny anymore that they keep empowering this asshat to go on a personal vendetta.
2. MSU Preview
starts at 22:38
Not good. RB Nate Carter can run but Katin Houser is Noah Kim with more forgiving cornerbacks.
2. MSU Preview
starts at 38:39
DT Simeon Barrow is the guy to watch on defense but most of them are just so mid.
4. Indiana After Review
starts at 53:35
More of the same. JJ and Graham are All-Americans. Offense is bringing out interesting counters to Duo as they develop that game instead of zone stretch. Defense's thing this week was snags. The TD was a situational awareness issue. Colson talk? No. Barrett talk: yes.
About the Featured Musician: MAY ERLEWINE
This year we are partnering with The Blind Pig for bumper music, since that's where I've seen most of the bands I've been pushing anyways.
This is the week we're featuring May Erlewine, who's got a show coming up at the Ten Pound Fiddle Coffee House on Friday, Nov. 3rd at Michigan State University in East Lansing. She's one of the most prolific singer-songwriters of the Midwest and has grouped with countless musicians around here. She's explored a lot of different sounds but she's at her best when just sitting on a chair with a guitar. Her voice on stage encourages connectedness and stresses the importance of environmental advocacy, social justice, creative empowerment and community building as necessary work for all of us.
Song choices:
Also because Across 110th Street will get our Youtubes taken now now, the opener and outro:
- “The Employee is Not Afraid”—Bear vs. Shark
- “Ruska Vodka”—Motorboat
THE USUAL LINKS:
Hutchinson was telling their tackles they're running the fall on their ass play before the snap. How would he know that?

Is May Erlewine related to Stephen Thomas Erlewine? (Former WCBNer and publisher of the amazing All Music Guide)
October 20th, 2023 at 12:54 PM ^
I'll ask her today.
October 20th, 2023 at 1:14 PM ^
Yes, that’s her cousin. She’s a great musician and performer. She’s also cousins with Anne Erlewine who is another fantastic music and art figure in Ann Arbor. Her dad is Michael Erlewine who founded Allmusic, hence my original confusion.

my first thought too! I used to write for them back in the day. $0.07/a word, and then a couple months later I called my dad "hey the bad news is I got a 3-cent raise. the good is that it's a 42.8% raise"
ah the early internets
October 20th, 2023 at 12:09 PM ^
I’ve seen May a few times up here in TC. She’s awesome. Makes a wonderful connection with her audience.

"... this asshat ..."
Who's the asshat? (I haven't listened to the podcast.)
October 20th, 2023 at 1:59 PM ^
In comments in Brian's front page thread, some were pointing the finger at Dudek.
October 20th, 2023 at 2:35 PM ^
Two options. The first is Matt Dudek, Michigan's former recruiting coordinator. He did not leave Michigan voluntarily or on good terms. Rumor has it that he has been a key source (and possible instigator) for the NCAA investigations. The second is the Kyle of the NCAA investigation office. Once again, rumor has it that one particular investigator has a personal beef with Michigan generally and Harbaugh in particular.
October 20th, 2023 at 3:12 PM ^
Not Dudek. The NCAA outsources its investigations now and apparently there's someone with a major axe to grind against Michigan whom they've empowered to throw their name around.

Poor Brian was coughing up a lung.
October 20th, 2023 at 1:17 PM ^
Would the staffer have had to ask fans to tape the sidelines? Don't we get that info on the All 22 feed?
October 20th, 2023 at 1:44 PM ^
When teams send their All-22s they purposefully scrub out as much as they possibly can. They won't show the play until the snap--even pre-snap motion is usually excluded.
Yeah the staffer seems to have gone out on his own to find fans who will shoot the opposing sidelines to capture their signals. Unless they can show Michigan knew that's where the staffer was getting his signs knowledge, or he was submitting bills or something, I don't think they're getting in any trouble. Fans can shoot games. There's an old rule nobody cares about because it was from a time before smartphones that says you can't send staffers to watch opponents during the season, because it was an expense smaller schools wanted to avoid. But if you have fans just recording games and sending them to a guy, they can probably argue that's kosher since he wasn't there in person and anything that fans provide you is fair game.
October 20th, 2023 at 1:50 PM ^
Thanks!
If that's the case, I can see someone asking "Where did you think the guy was getting signs if it's not on the All 22 and he wasn't going to the games?"
October 20th, 2023 at 3:07 PM ^
I'm losing track of what was in which report, but supposedly he spent a lot of time reviewing TV broadcasts of opponents' games. Those aren't scrubbed, though the sideline signals would only occasionally be visible.
One thing I'd mention re that part of the podcast is that Stalions's hire date probably isn't relevant since he was already around as a volunteer long before.
October 20th, 2023 at 1:41 PM ^
I thought at first these were time stamps for the video and not the actual time. Thus, I thought you spent 25 seconds on the MSU preview and thought, “yeah, that’s appropriate.”
October 20th, 2023 at 1:41 PM ^
Lol - I made that mistake last week.
October 20th, 2023 at 1:55 PM ^
Never thought I’d see someone like May featured on the blog but she’s a fantastic songwriter and artist. She had a long run as a featured act with the Earthwork Music Collective and former partner Seth Bernard, who is fantastic in his own right.
MGoBlog never ceases to amaze.

I'll just add my compliments to the fine music selection. I have loved May since she was still Daisy May. Luckily she comes out to Colorado every so often and has played here in Fort Collins several times. Always an excellent show.

hey "neighbor" - I don't recognize the name of that venue "Lunch" - mind sharing where that's located? Would love to catch her next time she plays in NoCo
October 28th, 2023 at 3:18 PM ^
Sorry but just noted this question. The Live at Lunch thing is an in-studio radio deal at KRFC usually done by artists playing somewhere in town that evening. I didn't see her there but heard it on the radio. The only place she has played AFAIK is at Avos at least four times.
October 20th, 2023 at 3:21 PM ^
I'm going to date myself here but I want to I want say I saw Daisy May play back in the day with Steppin' In It at Avogadro's Number when getting my undergrad at CSU back around 2010. Her style is very Fort Collins-esque and I remember it being a great show.
October 20th, 2023 at 3:49 PM ^
Avogadro's is still alive and well. Not at all surprised she played there.
October 28th, 2023 at 3:23 PM ^
In fact, Avos just got nicer with the new front porch and flipping the stage around.
Like the avatar photo. Definitely Winter Park, likely the top of the Panoramic lift.
October 28th, 2023 at 3:21 PM ^
You're dating yourself as pretty young with that one. Some of us were working on our undergrad in Ann Arbor the last time we won a basketball championship.
October 20th, 2023 at 3:21 PM ^
Just a note on the MSU-Rutgers game: Brian said that Rutgers' final drive was "12 plays and 32 yards. Kyle Monangai's damage happened before that drive. That was just salting the game away." It's important to note that the first nine plays of that drive were Monangai runs that went for 51 yards. The last three were extended kneel downs by Wimsatt that lost 19 yards. Monangai still had a good game before this (97 yards on 15 carries), but more than a third of his yards came on that drive. I agree with Alex: MSU really did just quit.

I kind of expect [Haladay] to be use more as a blitzer
Did you steal MSU's signs
October 20th, 2023 at 4:19 PM ^
Perhaps in my 40 yrs of Michigan fandom I missed why the peons at the NCAA hate all things Michigan. Does anyone know from where this animosity originates ?Fab Five? Strechgate? At this point I hope Harbaugh does his next press conference dressed as the Hamburglar.
October 20th, 2023 at 4:50 PM ^
I object to being called a "message board rando."
No, make that I strenuously object.
Hmmmmmph. I want to speak to the manager.
