The Sponsors
We can do this because people support us. You should support them too so they’ll want to do it again next year! The show is presented by UGP & The Bo Store, and if it wasn’t for Rishi and Ryan we’d be talking to ourselves.
Our other sponsors are also key to all of this: HomeSure Lending, Peak Wealth Management, Ann Arbor Elder Law, the Residence Inn Ann Arbor Downtown, the University of Michigan Alumni Association, Michigan Law Grad, Human Element, Lantana Hummus and Ecotelligent Homes

1. MSU After UFR: Pitch a Bitch
starts at 1:00
Ace lays out all the takes to pick out which ones are valuable and which are fire/stupid. One and four: dumb. Time for Peters? Might be. Fire Drevno? Right tackle was bad but the offensive line as a whole stepped forward. Long discussion on going to concerts.
2. Indiana Preview
starts at 32:15
They’ve benched their quarterback for a redshirt freshman—maybe he’ll throw the ball to unstoppable receiving god Simmie Cobbs. That’s not the end of Indiana’s receiving threats though they’re a bit banged up. That is the end of their offense. Their defense is Michigan-lite. They’re going to wreck us there.
3. Gimmicky Top Five: Favorite Play-by-Play Calls of All Time
starts at 46:00
Gus Johnson, Keith Jackson, Bill Raftery, Kenny Albert, Bob Ufer, and Rychialivyak Llissander Wolffsbaan Þormundur III (I think that’s his name) top our lists of favorite all-time announcer calls, a segment we came up with because we were all excited about…
4. People Doing Impressions of Bob Ufer
starts at 1:12:24
Steve “Dr. Sap” Sapardanis, Michigan historian and a man who knew more about Schembechler’s Michigan than Millie joins us to pay tribute the legendary Michigan broadcaster Bob Ufer. In the 40s and 50s, as America was still mired in its McCarthyism, Ufer was the color and enthusiasm in a black and white Pleasantville world. He conveyed to you through his broadcast style that it was ok to be who you are and not be someone else or someone that somebody else wanted you to be. At least that’s what Sap meant to say when Brian asked him for his thoughts and he kind of wistfully said “Yeah. Yeah.”
Also we have Ace try to perform some Ufer-isms, and Dennis from the OC calls in to show us what a real Ufer impressionist sounds like. Also Bo does a spot-on Ufer. Also Brian’s kid.

like where you are going with Michigan's record against their rivals under Harbaugh. Therefore, Michigan is 5-1 against their rivals including the Minnesota win.

I remember wtching that and thought it was the most badass goal I'd ever seen - it was like a deep bomb from a quarterback (I was not watching a Dutch language broadcast though).
Their hilarious Scandinavian, Swedish chef sounding dude was unreal.

This year, this goal from Dennis Bergkamp for Arsenal against Newcastle in 2002 was selected as the greatest goal in the 25-year history of the Premier League. As a long-time Arsenal fan, this one was special. Things haven't been looking quite as good for both the Dutch and the Gunners these days.

I was in that endzone, row 10 or 20ish :) (seat assignments didn't count for much)

IU game. After all the games I've attended at the Big House, I still think that was the loudest I've ever heard the crowd. It still brings goosebumps after all these years.

I'm fairly certain that game was not televised. The video in the youtube appears to be cobbled together from fans in the stands and local sports reporters gathering some video for the nightly sports report.
I was 9 years old at the time. Dad used to take one of us three kids to each game. I remember pawning that game off on my little brother (5 at the time,) because even at 9 years old, I knew that OSU, MSU, and ND were the big games. Mom and I listened to Ufer on the radio. My brother has bragging rights over me for eternity because he saw the greatest finish in Michigan football history live, but I got to hear Ufer announce the play.
Dad was also one of those guys who brought the pocket radio with him to games. OMG, it was such a big production. We'd get to the seats and he'd start assembling his setup. He had earpieces and ran the line through his jacket and down to his radio. He'd hear Ufer say something and relate that to me, and I'm like, yeah, I know Dad, I'm watching the game. And later, the stadium announcer would beat the radio broadcast by several seconds. But I wouldn't trade those times for anything.

heard Ufer's call as it happened when I was over my aunt's house in NE Detroit listening to the game on the old stereo in the ldining room area...and remember my brother,my cousin, y brothr, and myself jumping up and down going crazy....the key that people don't get is that prior to that play, Michigan was known as one of the three yards and a cloud of dust team only...AC and that play changed all of that.

Also in the student section -- damn, that was fun. In the stadium, it was hard to tell what had happened the play before -- the pitch out of bounds to stop the clock -- but that last play . . . wow!

than ''Hello Heisman'' has to be your number one call...this is not up for discussion.

but only people who grew up in non-Texas states would have dared leave this one out. Plano East vs. John Tyler, Class 5A II (this is big-time) semifinal playoff, 1994.
Plano East homers announcing the game have had to suffer through a whuppin', down 41-17 with under 3 minutes to go in the game. Time to try and corral a bit of "Defeat with Dignity" if you know what I'm sayin'.
But then... 4 touchdowns interspersed with 3 consecutive onside kicks recoveries... the Greatest Comeback in High School Football History (TM), until... it wasn't anymore.
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND HOLY IN THIS WORLD, PLEASE spend 4 minutes and 37 seconds of your precious life watching the entire mashup of the last 3 minutes embedded below. You will RUN, RUN to the phone to thank me.
Yes, you could jump to the money shot at 4:00 and get the best heartbreaking riches-to-rags call of all time, but then you'd miss gems such as:
"We gon' celebrate. BREAK OUT THE OREOS, BABY!!"
"I done wet my britches!"

Among the many great things in that video, I just love the "announcers" (with the possible exception of the play-by-play guy, I guess) sounding like me and my buddies sitting around the family room throwing our two cents in while the magic unfolds. Great stuff, thanks for posting!

I've always like "Grbac to fire for it, he's gonna go for it all..." can't remember the rest of that one but you know what happened! (I was a kid at the time and not a Michigan fan but its still pretty rad).
Also - One man to beat...Goodbye! Hello Heisman!

My favorite radio call that I remember happening was some time the first half of the 1980s. "That's Rodgers and Hammerstein on the tackle." I believe it was Frank Beckmann? I just remember the call and then racous laughter for 10-20 seconds and "I've been waiting all season for a chance to call that."
(Mind you, we listened to pretty much every game we weren't at (which was most of them) from as early as I can remember until around the time I got season tickets in '88. If the game was on TV, it was still pretty common for us to have the sound down and the radio on. I just don't remember the details of things like the '79 Indian game. Though in that case, I know my dad was at the game, and it's possible I was as well. Getting old is hard on the memory.)
