Jack Miller Foregos Fifth Year
[Bryan Fuller/MGoBlog]
Sam Webb reported this morning that senior Michigan offensive lineman Jack Miller will forego his fifth and final year of eligibility. The returning starter at center will stay at the university and focus on his academic pursuits:
Source indicated #Michigan center Jack Miller has opted to forego his fifth year. Just confirmed by athletic department official

Jack Miller is not a transfer case. He is leaving to "focus on studies and pursue business opportunities" per #Michigan SID Dave Ablauf

Miller started 16 games at center over the last two seasons, including all 12 in 2014. Redshirt sophomore Patrick Kugler and redshirt junior Blake Bars will compete to take Miller's spot in the middle of the line. Kugler is the likely favorite given his pedigree and recruiting profile; Graham Glasgow could also be an option if the line shuffles around a bit. As long as one of the centers has a good handle on the offense, Michigan should be no worse for wear. Best of luck to Miller in his future endeavors—it's great to see that he'll be continuing his studies.
And who are we to argue? But it's stylistic, not an error.

I dont believe this is as clear cut as some want me to believe. Im wondering if he got in some kin of trouble (uhhh, not at Michigan right?) I mean come on.....returning starter with an inside track to start your 5th year, went through a gruelling winter conditoning program, going through spring drills and just out of the blue want to hang it up for academics. No way do I believe this for one second.

For those of us who are huge fans it can be hard to understand this sort of action, but there are more than a few members of any football who play simply for the scholarship and opportunity. They don't necessarily love football, and they play as long as they need to.
Thanks, Jack, for the four years of hard work and leadership. Good luck in all your future pursuits!
I'm surprised that this post has been up for about 5 hours now, and nobody has pointed out the fact that Ace misspelled "Forgoes" in the title.
This place is slipping.
Is this sarcasm? It's been mentioned at least a couple times.

Cut him some slack. It's a lot of work to manage a real estate empire.
but if he didn't want to pay the price under the new regime, better to find out now rather than later.
Miller improved quite a bit last season. If he did not win a starting spot this season, I thought he would make a great backup center. May be he kind of knew he would not win a spot in the starting rotation, so his sacrifice of time from his studies was not worth being a backup? Overall, he is making the smartest move for his future career goals!

He's been thinking about it for a year and had discussed it with Hoke before Harbaugh was a twinkle in his eye.

Why doesn't the BTT have UW and Maryland sit out the first round, leaving an eight team second round - the normal format?
Help! I need to not think the Big Ten management is deranged.
