Nick Eubanks completes this year's most llama-out-of-nowhere recruitment by committing while on a mid-week official:

The Iowa State run on Chase Allen's crystal ball is now explained.

Eubanks a four-star to three services. 247 ranks him the #11 TE in the country and a four star; ESPN has him the #2 TE-H (they split their TE rankings) and a four star inside their top 300. Rivals has him a four star just outside their top 250. Scout is the only service to rank him a three-star.

A more informative update is coming.

Over the middle and a few TDs are in his future. Nice choice to come to the epicenter of TEs. Seems like his smarts outweighed staying in a comfort zone. Harbaugh will make you a PRO.

I think his film was underwhelming to say the least. He ran the same curl/out route on 90% of his plays. Otherwise it was either a fly or check and release into the flat. He is going to have to learn how to run routes. He also rarely made people miss. He was quick off the line and he was willing to engage with a defender agressively. However there was one play where he engage, then released and played with his facemask as the play was still going on.

We seem to have 7, maybe 8 (no one has gotten a good feel for Fuller this entire process) prospects.

However, correct me if I'm wrong, we only have 5 spots left.

To be honest, Fuller is the only one I'm not sure we lead for...

  1. Rashan Gary ↔ (65% Michigan / 25% Clemson / 10% #1 Recruit Unknown and Fear*)
  2. Lavert Hill ↑ (75% Michigan / 25% MSU)
  3. Quinn Nordin ↔ (85% Michigan / 15% USC)
  4. Donald Stewart ↑ (100% Michigan - do we have room?)
  5. Connor Murphy ↔ (60% Michigan, 20% USC, 10% Oregon, 10% Arizona St. - grades?)
  6. Devin Asiasi ↔ (35% Michigan, 30% USC, 30% Washington, 5% UCLA)
  7. Boss Tagaloa ↔ (35% Michigan, 30% USC, 30% Washington, 5% UCLA)
  8. Jordan Fuller ↑ (52% OSU / 48% Michigan)

...everyone else, IMO, we're out or we are no longer recruiting (Chase Allen, Pie Young, Jonathan Jones, Vic Viramontes --- Isiaiah Simmons is a wild card, but I'll say no there as well because my head is already ready to explode).

Arrows indicate direction trending. I almost put Asiasi and Tagaloa as down arrows, just because I think we're naturally going to lose some steam as the newness and excitement of the visit starts to wear off...especially with west coast guys. However, right now I don't think it'll be enough for the others to catch Michigan so I left it as "stable." However, I see it as a 34%/33%/33% when it's all said and done with Michigan/USC/Washington - hopefully in that order.

*This is not code for another team, it's me saying you can NEVER be 100% sure on the #1 recruit in the country who's deciding on NSD. There's always going to be some uncertainty - because we're fans, and we're fickle.

But that's 7 guys I think we lead for...not sure how we make it work with 5 spots. And right now it's looking like Johnson is staying in the class with ND halting their pursuit of him. I suppose if he doesn't stay in the class and D. Johnson doesn't qualify, then you have your 7 spots. Or if we have a greyshirt in the class, you only need 6.

If Michigan got all of the top 7...it would likely put the class ranking around 289.00 on 247Sports.

Good enough for #1 if everything ended today.

More than likely would leave us third when it's all said and done.

I want Dytarious in the class as well. Just repeating what some have said on here. I like the film and the Pratville connection.

Johnson could certainly go elsewhere besides Michigan and ND. We'll see. It could be an either or situation with Johnson and Stewart...very weird how that one is panning out.

Also some rumbling on Murphy's grades...nothing alarming thus far, but that could be something to watch.

Then of course none of this matters if the west coast guys stay on the west coast. Remove them and we can take all 5 of the rest, and we can take Fuller depending on the Johnson or greyshirt situation.

I wish Signing Day was tomorrow. If it was, I honestly think we'd get all of the top 7 on that chart. I think Clemson puts in a scare for Gary, but can't overcome the lead. I think Hill is trending towards Michigan, so we're good there. Replace Clemson for USC and I think the same for Nordin, they'll make it closer...but he still comes to Michigan.

Donald Stewart, IMO, is a commit if we have room/want him in the class. I don't see any movement in Murphy's situation, the west coast isn't a factor with the familiarity with Harbaugh. And like I said with the two Cali guys, I see those west coast schools making it a BATTLE over the next few days, those are two that I could see us leading now, and by next Wednesday, we're behind as the raw emotion and nervousness comes to the forefront.

If Fuller is a toss-up.

All just my opinion from reading up on everything...it'll be interesting that's for sure. I was even thinking about taking Wednesday off, however, I doubt the servers will be working.

I am no talent evaluator, nor do I follow recruiting closely.  In my uninformed opinion, one should ignore the stars and look at the offers.  If Bama, Oregon, and USC all wanted him, he is a stud and will school fools in Harbaugh's offense,  I may be wrong about him, but I am going to finish this glass of wiskey with a toast to his hair and go to bed happy.

Night y'all and welcome to Michigan Mr. Eubanks!

When I got my first coaching gig I got stuck with the tight ends. I came to really enjoy, respect, and study the position as much as possible.

Just from this film I can tell that Michigan is getting a very good athlete for his size. Eubanks' body composition is nearly identical to that of former Michigan tight end Devin Funchess. Depending on which recruiting service you covet, Eubanks is anywhere between 210 and 230lbs at 6'6".

Eubanks had outstanding offers bc the kid has a very high ceiling.

Pros:
- Very good athleticism for his size.
- Nice drive off the line
- Big hands like meat hooks
- Gives great effort as a blocker
- Has no issues with being physical
- Incredible potential
Areas to improve:
- Needs to improve running posture ( often gets too high too early on longer routes)
- Needs to work on his footwork, especially with his breaks.
- Needs to work on attacking the ball with his hands, in his film I saw too many cheat catches.
- Needs obvious mass on his frame at the college level (unless they intend to use him as a split end or Y)
- Must become a better route runner. Too many rounded off routes, and patterns that would get shut down at this level.
- Attitude - See too much taunting and "look at me" stuff from him after many of those plays.

If this guy Eubanks puts it all together, look out. For real, if this staff gets the best out of Nick Eubanks, I think we're looking at a future 1st round - 2nd round draft pick.

Just the fact that this kid is this good, while still so unpolished, is a good sign that his game will only get better and better.

I like your assessment.    I actually wasn't that impressed with the hudl highlights.   What I see:  terribly slow out of his breaks/rounded.    Doesn't really maintain his blocks, and tends to slack off if he doesn't think he has an important role.   He DOES seem to like to hit people, but those are a lot of people smaller, I wonder if he'll carry that enthusiasm when an elite linebacker with an even meaner streak is hitting him back.    Seemed easy to tackle, I didn't see him shaking off, slipping through, or lowering a shoulder and blasting over a lot of tackles.   True many were gang tackles due to his size, but even isolated, he didn't prove to me that he'll get past an elite dback.

As someone else mentioned, I thought it odd he included a play where he fumbled?   Maybe ruled as down in the real life version, but can't know that from tape, and even so, not something I'd show.

I think you nail the biggest questions: IS HE COACHABLE ?   Cause this looks really raw.

ps - I agree with the potential attitude thing, hopefully they can coach that out of him.

Brian - "Denard's" timing was a week off... he should have known to arrive AFTER signing day, not the week before.   (>24hours without the informative update)

I hope you have gotten the little guy home, I heard Harbaugh wanted him at the signing of the stars.

I wonder what colors his bedroom will be?

I didn't read all the posts so sorry if this was already brought up and discussed.

Brian states that Eubanks will likely red shirt in '16 due to the Butt and the glut of TEs and due to Eubanks need to add size.  However, in the first quote in the post from Eubanks he says one of the reasons he came to Michigan (amongst other important reasons) is "I can play right away as a true freshman  ...".

So I wonder which is it.  I suppose we'll see but I just found that interesting.
