Devery Hamilton Decommits
So this happened:
Per Baltimore (Md.) Gilman assistant coach Henry Russell, four-star offensive tackle Devery Hamilton has flipped his commitment from Michigan to Stanford.
Hamilton made it official Friday evening during his in-home with Cardinal head coach David Shaw.
"I think just the academics that Stanford has to offer and his parents having a family friend out there who can help make the distance more doable," Russell added.
This is absolutely not someone getting "processed," as Michigan needs offensive tackles and now doesn't have any in this class. Expect Ben Bredeson to kick out to OT. Michigan doesn't have any 2016 OL on the hook other than maybe GA OL EJ Price, a supreme longshot. They do have plenty of other guys looking to fill spots; it's possible they just try to lock down some 2017 five stars to fill the gap.

You mean the Wisconsin Gray Shirt offer? His next best offer is his sole official visit to Norman, OK.

Please make this all better. PLEASE.

If we could somehow flip him that would be amazing. I don't know if their is a chance but I hope there is.
January 30th, 2016 at 2:00 PM ^
I'm sure coaching staff are working a last minute OT. With a very limited time frame, they would be possibly wasting their time attempting to flip Jordan at this point in the game. They'll come up with something.... Probably.
January 30th, 2016 at 3:20 PM ^
I just checked he is enrolled so it probably won't happen it will be tough to find another prospect in these next couple of days to come. There is a lot of ground to make up that time with any recruit now.

This includes Blake Bars who I was prepared to see try to earn a starting role somewhere else as a grad transfer.
Losing Swenson, Hamilton AND (not getting) Raulerson...whew. That's a blow. If we can somehow steal an ideal LT in this class - that's a game changer for our future depth.
It's also time for Kugler to step up...if anything happened to either OT, Cole may have to move back out there. Kugler and/or Dawson needs to be ready to play/start at C this year.

Are we completely out of it for Jean Delance? I know he committed to Texas, but it seemed like that it may have been more of a family proximity decision, but can JH change their minds or what about the kid that Maryland got that we cooled on, is he an OT?

Ulizio played this year - he'll be a Sophomore.

Stanford is nice in a Palm Springs old-folks resort sort of way. But it does not feel very college-y. It's also a ways from Palo Alto if you are trying to walk.
Everyone has their own opinion, but I would not pick a college because it feels vacation resort-y, ala Stanford, ASU, UCLA, etc. I have the rest of my life to go to resorts on vacation.
College is a truly unique experience that you can not replicate the rest of your life. I would rather go to a "real" college town like Ann Arbor, Madison, Athens, etc for college. I can always go to nice vacation resorts later.

Yep. Feels very suburban. I admit I am biased toward Big 10 campuses, they are all pretty good. Very collegial.
January 30th, 2016 at 12:35 PM ^
I visited Stanford's campus last year and thought it was gorgeous. (I didn't make it to the stadium.) It's no Ann Arbor, of course, but nonetheless thought it was pretty spectactular.

Dang, that sucks. Hamilton wouldn't likely have contributed right away but he had some huge upside and potential. If they can land Isaiah Wilson or Tedarrell Slanton next year though that would be huge for them.

Let's hope this mammoth of a man is ready to contribute as a freshman on some snaps like Cole and Newsome.
Isaiah Wilson - he's named Michigan his leader:
http://247sports.com/Player/Isaiah-Wilson-80321
...or there's also this kid, Wyatt Davis, from Cali who will likely be harder to to pull:
http://247sports.com/Player/Wyatt-Davis-77601
We also have JaRaymond Hall already in the class - local kid:

One more kid who's 100% to Rutgers and he's from NJ - meaning he's a Michigan commit if they offer:

Take all 4 and bump 1 of them to OG.
Edit: I forgot Tedarrell Slaton: http://247sports.com/Player/Tedarrell-Slaton-35109
Magnus has a list of offers here: http://touch-the-banner.com/2017-offer-board-2/

According to some, Carter Warren has already been offered by Michigan. Micah Clark is another New Jersey OT with an offer.
Also, Slaton's teammate, Kai-Leon Herbert, is interested in Michigan as well and could play offensive tackle.

Do you know of the top how many scholarships we should have next year?
January 30th, 2016 at 11:55 AM ^
Right now it would be 22.
January 30th, 2016 at 12:18 PM ^
We'll need to spend them all on Linemen.
January 30th, 2016 at 2:00 PM ^
4 hyphenated names...plenty of other targets. If we don't get at least 3 hypenated names in this class, it'll be a diappointment.
I added a 23rd spot, because, Harbaugh.
- QB - Dylan McCaffrey (4*)
- RB - Kurt Taylor (3*)
- RB - Allen Stritzinger (3*)
- WR - Donovan Peoples-Jones (5*)
- WR - Jeremiah Holloman (3*)
- SLOT - Clevan Thomas (3*)
- TE - Carter Dunaway (3*)
- TE - Jimmy Jaggers (4*)
- OT - Isaiah Wilson (5*)
- OT - JaRaymond Hall (4*)
- OT/OG - Tedarrell Slaton (4*)
- C - Cesar Ruiz (4*)
- WDE - Corey Malone-Hatcher (4*)
- SDE - (can't find anyone for this spot...or another DT if you put Bolds in this spot...)
- NG - Fred Hansard (4*)
- DT - Corey Bolds (4*)
- LB - Joss Ross (4*)
- LB - Drew Singleton (4*)
- LB - Antjuan Simmons (3*)
- CB - Stanford Samuels (4*)
- CB - Jaylon Redd (3*)
- DB - Benjamin St.-Juste (3*)
- S - Jaylen Kelly-Powell (4*)
January 30th, 2016 at 2:10 PM ^
Currently that class would be a 285.01 without someone in that SDE/DT spot.
It wouldn't be #1, but it would be a #3 - #5 type class.

Maybe Harbaugh can Snake Oil some Purdue kid.
January 30th, 2016 at 12:28 PM ^
LOL. I've already scoped out Purdue's recruits. They have a JUCO kid committed (never really an option ato Michigan), a pure OG, and then a tall, gumpy kid from New Mexico. I'd rather pass than steal someone from their class this year.

They offered him last summer, I believe, and he visited in the fall. I have heard that he was kind of a "break glass in case of emergency" recruit that Michigan thought they could flip. We'll see if they try at this point or not.
