Here is to hoping that Hackett has an inside track with Harbaugh or Miles and that is why he may be named full time AD. I am also hoping the firing happened today and not Monday because Jim Harbaugh didn't want to field questions at his press conference yesterday. I am going to keep my tin foil hat on today.

Had to be done. But the guy graduated or sent to the NFL damn near every senior, brought quality young men (football and character wise) into the program and won a BCS bowl. Thanks Hoke.

bring a smile to my face, but once again my heart always wins!  Brady Hoke seems to be a great man and from the reaction that I have been reading from the players, it makes this that much harder.  It is very difficult to see the picture of him ESPN has on their front page.

We will make it back to the top again!! GO BLUE!!

the following was an e-mail i wrote to my fellow UM alum friends on Jan 11, 2011 after the hiring of brady hoke:

Epic Fail!!!

This hire will completely crater what was turning out to be a good recruiting class.  We may now end up with ZERO quality OL in this class.  There were only 1 or 2 last year.  So even if we have a decent year next year (A big IF because there could be some significant transfers - Denard anyone), doom awaits in a couple years when we have no one who can block.

And offense was our strong suit this year.  This doesn't even address the defensive issues.  We actually had several very good defense recruits coming in (2 stud DBs for sure).  They will all surely bail, leaving a crap secondary going forward with no sign of improvement in the years to come.

I predict 7 wins next year; maybe 8 the following year; then a huge drop-off.  Then the Hoke apologists will say the cupboard was bare and to let him build the program.  Sound familiar?  Good luck...

So what are you pointing to here?

- Zero Quality OL: Okay, got that one. Hoke was hired pretty late and RR wasnt doing a great job recruiting OL anyway. But okay.

-Denard Transfer: Nope.

-Crap Secondary going forward: Countess and Taylor have been pretty solid, along with Lewis/Peppers following.

-7 wins next year: 11-2.

- 8 the following year: Well, got that one.

And its not as though you were the only one that wasn't impressed by the Hoke hiring.

i guess you didn't watch countess and taylor much this year.  they were not good.  and the safety play has been pretty mediocre as well the past few years.

and we were lucky denard stayed.  he was worth 3-4 extra wins in year 1.  imagine our record had he transferred.  and the program did crater after year 1 as i predicted.

i wish i was wrong though.

He was obviously over his head, but I feel bad for Hoke that it didn't work out.  The guy loves Michigan as much as any coach they've had, but unfortunately "loving something" doesn't lead to wins.

Wish him best wherever he lands.

call me the heartless b-tard, but in a results oriented biz, i'm having a hard time feeling sorry for Coach Hoke - he was paid well and provided with all the tools for success for 4 yrs, but led the program into the ground - and will likely be paid $3M just for going away.

if anyone deserves sympathy at this point, its his players

The more success RR has the more heat Brandon is gonna take....wow... this is gonna be bad....  and the same with Lloyd, who is looking worse and worse, daily.

but the fact is that RR blew it and is also quite culpable... I mean, RR was the one who reached out to us to let us know he was interested... it was him who handled the WVa divorce horribly... horribly...  then too busy about himself to have any semblance of the people and traditions before him... and singe those would-be supporters... then Roseberg.... and so on...

You take your Rich Rod out,

You put your Rich Rod in,

And you chase his bum ass out.

You do the Hokey chokey,

And watch the Cats win out.

That’s karma without a doubt!

Go Blue!

FIRE EVERYTHING!

Hackett fires people better than Brandon (remember the two day meeting before officially canning RR). Now let's hope he hires better than Brandon.

I wanted Hoke out a year ago because the downward trend was beyond obvious. However, 2011 bought him a repreive and some leeway. Well, he burned through that in short order this season. By Utah, and certainly Minnesota, it was clear his days were numbered.

I personally feel no sadness for the man being gone, but I understand why many do. I can empathize with many of them. There were quite a few here that felt it was time for RichRod to go, but felt for us that were crushed by the decision. To them (that the roles are now reversed), I know how you feel.

hard decision for Hackett. It is simple for a blogger to call for the firing of a coach over and over again and to jump on any
adversity to prove his or her point. There is no consequence to these individuals.

The firing of a coach has a negative impact in a program and creates uncertainty to the team, staff and recruits. The program was moving in the right direction from a recruiting and team stand point. But the coaching was not up to par. I do not understand why, considering the quality of the OC and DC.

The decision was not cut and dried as those in this site presupposed. But, it was probably the right one.

Brady Hoke to be successful at Michigan. In the end though, it was clear he was just outmatched. I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. He's a great person and a terrific role model, its just a shame he was a sub par football coach

I felt a little bad earlier today because I really wanted him to make it here. I actually thought at the beginning that 25 years from now there'd be a building with his name on it. (I guess there was vodka in that Kool-aid.) I got over that pretty quickly after the 11-2.

After considering the details of his parting gifts today, I refuse to feel too sorry for him. Any single human being who made $11.4M failing to do at least 75% of his job, got fired, and will continue to be paid more per month in the next two years than I may earn in total over the same time period does not need my sympathy. Where was my high school guidance counselor when I needed to hear about coaching as a career choice? I would be willing to suck at coaching football here for <5% of what they paid Hoke to do it.

Shouldn't you be rioting in ferguson withe the rest of your occupy Wall Street crowd chanting about pay inequality. And other social justice issues? C'mon man, the guy got paid what he did and sorry you don't make what hoke did, none of us do. Want to be upset, check out baseball players and their contracts! Do an average of 30% and they make 100,000,000 over their years and succeed 30% of their time and end up in the hall of fame.

You managed to cram Ferguson, Occupy Wall Street, social justice, pay inequality, baseball contracts and other issues that seem to anger you into a well-crafted (/s) response to my post that was just about why I don't feel sorry for Brady Hoke. I'm well-aware that coaches and athletes make a lot of money. I'm also aware that many do so whether they deserve it or not. I suppose my sarcasm is lost on some.
