Benjamin Hall Has Committed to Michigan Comment Count

In the midst of spring practice, the Michigan Football program picked up a new commitment in the 2023 class this morning, coming from RB Benjamin Hall

Hall is from Kennesaw, GA, and attends North Cobb HS there, which is in the outskirts of the Atlanta area. Hall has a 3* rank from 24/7 but is not yet in the composite because he has only recently begun to enter the radar of most recruiting folks. Hall appeared on our recruiting board when I did the last comprehensive update in late January, and I noted at the time that Mike Hart had recently offered Hall, but that the recruitment was in the very early stages. Since then, Hall took an unofficial visit to Michigan in mid-March and scheduled his OV for June 17-19 ($).

Hall is right around 6'0" and weighs between 225 and 230 lbs, depending on whose measurement you look at. Due to that physique, he is described as more of a power/burly runner and Michigan liked the possibility of pairing him with speed demon Cole Cabana in the 2023 class. Hall is now the seventh commit in the 2023 class for Michigan and the fourth on offense, joining fellow RB Cabana, WR Semaj Morgan, and TE Andrew Rappleyea. There is no content after the jump.

This feels like a guy the M coaches found, really liked and wanted to get on board before everyone else found out about him.  I think we'll watch him climb the rankings throughout the recruiting cycle.

From GA?  Eh, we have a pretty poor hit rate even on 4 and 5 stars from GA (Hinton, Trente Jones as hits, Myles Sims, Jalen Perry, Aubrey Solomon as misses, Otis Reese never matriculated) and the three stars from there have barely seen the field before transferring, especially 3* RBs:

Christian Turner

Kurt Taylor

Mbem-Bosse

Of course, Michael Barrett is so good at FB, RB, LB, Punter, Water Boy that he makes up for all of them I guess.

This is the kind of player that grind the will out of his opponents.  Very shifty, powerful, balanced, and quick.  While he doesn't have breakaway speed, H2 showed us how much more valuable it is to be able to navigate a crowd and push forward for yards that just aren't there.

Very excited about this commitment.  GO BLUE!

One of the traits I have seen over the years is an ability to sidestep with vision.  Mike Hart was the original.  Great speed is deadly and power and grace is awesome. But the game now in college is built around good offensive line play and back that find it and grind it.
