OT: Montana to Montana
Bruce Feldman -- RT @hansensouthbend Montana AD confirms #NotreDame QB Nate Montana is transferring to Univ. of Montana.
If I'm the Univ. of Montana, I change my mascot to the Fighting Joes.
It was also reported that Montana was considering Rice University. But Montana to Rice was sooo 80s.

Montana's long been known as an FCS power with a good offense. Glad Nate saw the light and decided to get some playing time if that is what is important to him. Best of luck to him now that he's no longer at Lucky Charms U.

We'll always have your awfulness in 2010, Nate.

must be a terrible athlete.

Played hockey with the son of NHL HoF Brad Park at SU, we always said he had his mother's talent.

on the back of the jersey! Wait, no that's not right. He's playing for the name of the front of the jersey, not the back of the jersey. But that's the same name, so he really is playing for both sides of the jersey. And that's different from the name on the side of the helmet, which is "Griz," which isn't a name, and it isn't on the front or the back of the jersey...

He will have the only reversible jersey on the team......

They make me jump, jump.

Rumor had it Tate was going to Montana a while back. Odd how that sort of thing works out.

the balls it took for Joe Montana's kid to transfer from South Bend.
Kudos to him and his Dad for making this decision.

He wasn't on scholarship, and most ND fans thought he was a terrible player. He had next to no chance of ever again seeing playing time.

he's going to top the whole forcier family...
high school to juco to nd walk on to juco to nd again to montana...

I guess best of luck to the kid, but I could not imagine being the son of Joe Montana and being a mediocre QB. I am not looking forward to either of Brady's sons being walk-ons at UM in 2030 or whenever!

You gotta feel for the kid...even though he did take snaps in South Bend.

I was more hoping to see Geisele's daughters.

Hey, it was his choice to play football (and quarterback, no less), and invite the inevitable comparisons. He could have done something else with his free time.

Isn't this his 3rd stop post-high school?
EDIT: Check that, technically 4th:
ND
Pasadena CC
ND
Montana
That's a lot of moving expenses.

the sketchers shape ups commercials covered that... Please tell me that is why he did them?

It's probably what both Threet and Forcier should have done when transferring from Michigan: go to a smaller school where the level of competition is just slow enough to make someone with talent but not quite enough arm or speed for the BCS look like a God. Montana should have the goods to play at Montana, and his name opens obvious and myriad PR options.
As for those ex-Wolverines, Threet will be OK at ASU, though he is currently involved in a minor QB controversy, but I am guessing Forcier plays at someplace like Valdosta before it's all said and done. After sitting out this redshirt/transfer year, Forcier should have a pretty good idea of where he stands at YTM.

first name was Montana (like Montana Wildhack), he'd be Montana Montana of Montana.
He would then be the most complete Montana Man in the world.
