A proposal on how to stop the endless CC & DB posts

Submitted by mGrowOld on

Nothing is working right now.

No matter how many negative comments are posted, no matter how many negative points are given, the CC and DB posts just keep coming. Almost every 30 minutes it seems, somebody goes "hey....I have a really unique thought on the whole CC issue or I wonder if DB thought of this before now I better let the world know of my amazing insight" and posts a thread. And every 31 minutes the board goes nuts, negs the hell out of the poster while the following happens. First MGoshirt will post a funny picture and comment on the beat down sure to follow. And then Hackney will post his air raid thing. And then I'll post an animated GIF of a guy beating a dead horse. And then somebody will say "why are you reading the thread if you don't like the topic". And lastly a lot of negative comments will be made about the poster's thinking process. As predictable as night. But instead of this reaction slowing the posts down, they actually seem to be picking up steam.

So here's my idea to try and stop them. Every day the Mods should put in the diary section the daily CC/DB scorecard. In it would be a chart (yes charts) of the previous day's threads on CC & DB topics, the poster's name and their respective before and after point total. Perhaps if people saw that those scores on the board every day they might...just MIGHT...ask themselves do i really want to put my new and completely original thought up before hitting save.

These are desperate times gentlemen. If you've got a better idea please let me know so the Mods have some idea on how to stop these threads from completely burying the board under the collective weight of their posting.

Maybe the Mods can figure out other ridiculous ways to waste their time. Like trying to lick their elbow. Or trying to picture Pam Ward as a woman. Stuff like that.

We have reached a vicious circle of tail chasing. Some do not want CC threads due to the skip of a heartbeat and the faint hope that we ALL have been looking for to sooth our nerves. When that fails to happen, the bombs, facepalms, "quit posting this filth", etc. come out in force. Then those participants are moved to be censored because it annoys the redundant crowd to the point where they call redundancy. This Greek tragedy of the times we are in will continue to happen. I know I have annoyed the shit out of some and vice versa. The truth is that I don't believe anything can or will be done. This brings me to the realization of one solution.

Chill. The. Hell. Out. Everybody.

We are most likely less than a month out from finding out. I would think most if not all of us will continue to bleed maize and blue. We will just have to put up with each other's annoyances under the same roof( unless of course it breaks blog rules) for that long when there will be a blizzard of 2011football speculations, bball talk, hockey talk, OT talk, recruiting talk, etc.

Words, photos, and clips shouldn't be this hurtful to anyone above the age of 5 (unless again it is against blog rules).

Step back from anger world and be thankful for a great site where we can practice freedom of speech in a new way that others couldn't 15-20 years ago. We would have to wait for...the Detroit Press each day. gulp.

If you open a CC thread, only one thing is guaranteed. You will probably disagree with some post. No need to spaz like a dog on ecstasy. Agree to disagree with the intellect of some posters, laugh at the unique and eclectic personalities that share wonderfully funny gifs, pics, clips, etc, and neg the trolls that flame others.

You guys have made me be serious. Damn you all.

Click on it.
Read it.
Be annoyed.
Agree or disagree.

DON'T reply to it.
DON'T vote on it.

The best action is no action at all. The posts will only stop when they are ignored.

Of course, this will never happen. But you said "if you've got a better idea" ...so there it is.

But there is a simple answer: have a press conference and announce either the retention of RR or the hiring of a new head coach. This will end most all CC posts, and many DB posts. Of course, we already know this answer, but aren't willing to wait until it comes to fruition in the first week of January.

Sorry, could not resist knowing that the inhabitants of this blog are inquiring minds that would view this as important information based on the posting rules. PG-13 link at the worst....and knowing Brian's thoughts on her.....

You know why they keep coming? Because it's the most pressing issue affecting our football program. Any attempt at censoring them out will be futile. Here's a revolutionary idea: if you aren't interested in the thread, don't read it

Make a CC general discussion thread and keep it at the top of the MGoBoard?
Call me crazy, but maybe this is the solution.

Either that or we waterboard DB for the answers we want. This one solves all the problems.
