Mississippi State Defense vs. Auburn Every Snap
Hadn't seen this game and I'm feeling better after watching it. It wasn't as close as the score indicated. More of a failure of Auburn to put the game away than anything else. Auburn piled up yardage on outside runs with their speed back. Get Smith and Roundtree outside and they will pick up chunks of yardage.

Its too good.

Fun Fact: Mississippi State only defeated one team that ended with a winning record. They beat (7-5) Florida by a score of 10-7. They've lost to really good teams and beaten really bad teams.
Michigan has defeated three teams that ended with winning records. Connecticut, Notre Dame, and (most importantly) Massachusetts. We've lost to good teams and beaten bad teams.
+1 to the Gator Bowl for this matchup

are the rest of the games to follow?
December 6th, 2010 at 7:45 PM ^
Yeah, I was planning to do either their offense or defense for all 8 SEC games.
December 6th, 2010 at 11:31 PM ^
I think we have enough team speed on offense to move the ball on MSU. As long as the OL can block and we don't have any attacks of the dropsies (looking at you #12), we should be OK. It's our D that I'm more concerned about.
December 6th, 2010 at 6:23 PM ^
I wouldn't mind seeing some option or that wrap-around hand off that Auburn did.
December 6th, 2010 at 6:27 PM ^
Pernell Mcphee chose Mississippi State. I was really excited about him rocking the Maize and Blue at one point, can't wait til the 1st to make him regret that decision!

I really hope DB doesn't put up something that dwarfs the big house when they put in new screens next year.
December 6th, 2010 at 7:09 PM ^
Impossible.
December 6th, 2010 at 6:39 PM ^
I read an article earlier today about this game. This was Auburns first road game and second game of the SEC season and it also stated that Cam went out for a few series in this ball game. I would like to see more current Miss St. D-videos but this is great stuff. All I can hope for is execution on Michigan part.

I would like to see more current Miss St. D-videos...Stay tuned...

Miss St run defense looked pretty stout, and the DL was constantly in the backfield. They also mixed in some aggressive playcalling. They seemed to be a little more vulnerable against the bubble screens that we like to run, but their DBs seemed instinctive and athletic. Overall this makes me much more excited to see what the boys in blue can do against what seems to be a good defense (with the huge caveat that this was the first Miss St game I've seen all year).

I love me some Denard, but watching Cam Newton in that offense makes me realize the kind of damage that Devin Gardner can do. Similar build, and speed, but he is already a better thrower of the ball than Newton is. Hope he gets his RS this year.

sorry to burst you guy's bubble but that was states 2nd game in a new defensive scheme really shouldn't judge a book by its cover here are the stats from that game... aubawn is on the left state is on the right... tMSU defense has improved leaps and bounds from that game except for a few blown plays here and there

am I going to be the only one whose really confused when he originally assumes that you are a sparty fan?
December 6th, 2010 at 6:57 PM ^
and our offensive stats from that game are a litlle misleading also as we were running a 2 qb system that ultimatley failed and miserably at that... plus CDM tried to run a 4 backs that game which never allowed for one or the other to get in a rythm... they have scrapped that whole outlook on offense and its a 2 back set and relf at quaterback... hard to have a consistent offense when u had a running qb in for run plays and passing qb for pass plays the defenses jumped all over that so the offense has improved drastically... a good game to watch to scout would be the arkansas game shows alot of what hurt us on D and how we can perform on O also

Let the shit-talking begin!

haha sorry bout the name but im a bulldog fan not a sparty fan

You should probably start reading up on Denard.

here is a video of our middle linebacker chris white #50 this kid is legit... runs side to side well and has a nose for the ball he is most likely the one that will be on DR the whole game
December 6th, 2010 at 7:13 PM ^
I actually appreciate what you're doing here: not trolling, backing up your team, etc. but that's not going to stop me from talking junk.
We're going to wreck you.
December 6th, 2010 at 7:49 PM ^
Should be a fun game, but it is hard to tell from the video.. When 50 tackles brantley's slow ass, Denard would of been 30 yards down the field with that huge open space brantley was running in.
December 6th, 2010 at 11:28 PM ^
A couple of nice plays, but stopping a run with an ankle tackle after a gain of 9 says more about the D-line than it does about him. Dernard is also faster than the Florida QB and M is only giving up ~1 sack a game this year.
December 6th, 2010 at 7:26 PM ^
funny someone from michigan saying the mississippi public school system has failed me... im actually from buffalo ny and ended up going to MSU for college cuz of family ties.. and to tell ya the truth im a closet big ten fan... i enjoy watching big ten games in the morning on saturday and i have also been preaching all year that DR is a beast and has just as good numbers as cam newton does.. real reconizes real... the dude can play ball with the best of them.... that being said CDM has a way with making mobile quarterbacks lives hell playing state... look at what happened when the last 2 great quarterbacks have played state... tebow had his worst game ever while at florida when he played state last year and newton this year had his worst game of the year agaisnt us...
tebow:
C/ATT | YDS | AVG | TD | INT | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
T. Tebow | 12/22 | 127 | 5.8 | 0 | 2 |
both ints were pick 6's one was for 106 yards
22 | 88 | 4.0 | 1 | 26 |
those are rushing stats
cam newton
C/ATT | YDS | AVG | TD | INT | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
C. Newton | 11/19 | 136 | 7.2 | 2 | 1 |
ruahing stats
C. Newton | 18 | 70 | 3.9 | 0 | 17 |

Only SEC fans use the CNS, CDM, CUM (LOL URBAN MEYER JOKE!), CMR, etc abbreviations. Drop the 'C', it's really unnecessary.
December 6th, 2010 at 7:32 PM ^
McCalleb and Dyer are outstanding. We could use a RB like that to complement Shaw (when healthy).
December 6th, 2010 at 8:52 PM ^
Dyer reminds me of Hart the way he just keeps pushing through the piles to get an extra couple.
December 6th, 2010 at 9:20 PM ^
I actually went to the Auburn vs. Mississippi State game (on a Thursday before going to the Penn State vs Bama game) and thought that the game was very competitive. This is definitely a new Mississippi State team.
I only wish that I had realized at the time that I was watching the Heisman Trophy winner.
December 6th, 2010 at 9:21 PM ^
Wow, those cowbells sound NOTHING like the cowbell rendidtion of "Go Blue". It's more like a swarm of locusts. Man that is awful. How were they not penalized for that noise? I clearly remember there being a statement saying they couldn't shake the cowbells during plays but the noise lasted a good 2 secs or more after the snap on most plays.
December 6th, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
but seriously, Devin Gardner could be the next Cam Newton, or better (in blue koolaid goggles). Here's to Gardner for heisman in 2014.
GO BLUE!
