OT: Big Chill timing
How late do you expect the Big Chill to go? I've never been to a college hockey game before, and now our childcare is having issues with needing us to pick up the baby by a certain time (the 4-year olds are coming with us!). Do you think I can get to Chelsea by 6:00 after the game?

With traffic and such, I'd doubt it.

Yeah with the traffic probably mirroring football Saturday traffic, it's not likely. I suggest that papabear puts babybear in one of those backpack things and starts the Michigan brainwashing early.

I see they have sold about 105,000 tickets so far. Does anyone know if there will be seating on the field? Do you know if we will break the 120,000 mark?

It would be awful to have seats on the field. The boards would obstruct your view of 1/3 of the ice. I have a friend who went to the classic at Fenway and said that nobody in the lower section could see much. Here's to hoping my seats are high enough, but not too high.

Not a chance. I don't think you'll get out of the stadium by 6:00pm.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks, all.

Wait, a time has been set for the game? I looked around and couldn't find one. What is the time then, 12?

Got my tickets in the mail on Saturday. Game time is 3:00pm. Those tickets are souvenir quality by the way, very cool.

They gave out freebies in the student ticket packages this year. Boom. Totally going. Freezing my ass off... drinking plenty o' whiskey.

Dudeness has the right idea. Maybe I'll give babybear a nip o' bourbon...

Maybe it is time you start looking for a new babysitter for the day.

What we need is a MGoDayCare to avoid issues like this. I am sure Brian would be great with kids.

I volunteer someone's wife or girlfriend to staff the childcare piece. It's the least I can do.
November 11th, 2010 at 11:13 AM ^
Take me for example. What did my WifeDay 2010 involve? Watching college football most of the day, drinking beer, and then going to the Michigan Hockey game that night.
don't volunteer the wives to watch kids.

My 9-year-old son was in a Baby Bjorn for the Cold War game at Spartan Stadium when he was 5 months old. My wife carried him most of the game under a large pullover ski jacket. She stills takes great pride that we got him in to the game without a ticket.
A big coat should keep everyone comfy. Good luck!

We've thought about this, but I think it would be miserable for everyone. "Baby" was really the wrong word. He's the youngest, but he's 18 months. He wants to be walking, or running, and wouldn't put up with three hours strapped to someone. He'd quickly turn into a 25-lb. shakeweight. With four-year old twins to manage, things would get unpleasant. I might notice hockey, but probably not. Nope, this dude needs to stay home for this one.

Yep, you are in need of child care, my friend.

I can tell you that Dash could get to Chelsea by 6:00, but outside of superpowers (or a jet pack!), you're not going to make it.
November 11th, 2010 at 11:31 AM ^
Ha! You should ask my dad (Chelsea's super) about my footspeed. I was a legendary option QB in highschool. Legendary.
/very, very sarcastic.

I was at the Michigan / Wisconsin outdoor game last year
It was very cold out
I would say since it starts at 3:00 pm, I'd be prepared for it to end between 6 and 6:30
Bundle up, gonna be a cold one out their !
Can't wait for the Big Chill, making the drive from Wisconsin for that !

I couldn't drink enough to stay warm at that game.
November 11th, 2010 at 12:20 PM ^
Does anyone know how they assigned the tickets? We've had season tickets for 15 years for hockey and got stuck in a corner, which is crap.

but we ain't leavin' till we're heavin'
November 11th, 2010 at 1:50 PM ^
i drank alot of beer before that game in Madison
luckily a friend of mine, his family owns a business not far from camp randall

With Michigan prevailing on a length of the ice goal by our goalie, as State pulls their keeper to add another skater during a penalty kill.
