Would you rather have a 2 star named Wonderful Terrific Monds, or a 5 star named Plays Likeshit Smith?

2 star named Wonderful Terrific Monds
October 7th, 2010 at 1:53 PM ^
That's bullbird and you know it.
October 7th, 2010 at 2:46 PM ^
Why I need coffee: I could not fathom why there was anything wrong with a guy who would clearly make Plays and Likes Hitting.

The coaches hate America, that's why. Him + Mingo = many national titles.

Where's your mind at?
October 7th, 2010 at 1:35 PM ^
I would certainly hope that he wasn't banged before his father, that would create all sorts of issues...
EDIT: I was too slow to prevent the edit... Where's the DeLorean?

His dad (Wonderful Terrific Monds Sr.) played minor league baseball. As soon as I heard the name I knew it was familiar so I looked it up. His dad played 7 years of minor league ball('93-99), mostly in the Braves farm system. I saw this guy at a minor league game about 15 years back and the name stuck in my head.

He comes from a long line of Wonderful Terrifics

EDIT: it looks like someone just posted this

when he eats his favorite sandwiches (PB&J's) with Wonder bread, it always made him feel Full. And his Mom, will still to this day, only shampoo's her hair with Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific, because she loved its latheristic qualities.....Hence, from the combination of their love for bread and shampoo, the awesomeness of their son's name was born....

WTF is wrong with parents? Why would they name their kid Wonderful Terrific? I can see this kid going for his first interview now . . .
Interviewer: "Wonderful Terrific?"
Kid: "Yes, sir."
Interviewer: "Really?"
Kid: "Yes, sir."
Interviewer: "No, really?"
October 7th, 2010 at 1:36 PM ^
By WTF is wrong with parents, do you mean the millions of them that DIDN'T name their kid that? Because.. my sentiments exactly...
October 7th, 2010 at 1:41 PM ^
Interviewer: "So... what do you want us to pay you?" ::vigorous handshake::
October 7th, 2010 at 1:41 PM ^
would go like this.
Interviewer: Hi, I'm pleased to interview you for the article that will feature you as one of the better HS player in the area. Let's start this interview by stating your name.
WTM: Wonderful Terrific!
Interviewer: yes, I'm glad that you are excited about the interview, but what is your name?
WTM: Wonderful Terrific!
Interviewer(getting frustrated): I know that you're really happy but really what is your name?
WTM(annoyed): Wonderul Terrific!
Interviewer(exasperated): I give up, forget about the interview and don't bother telling me your name!
WTM: IT'S WONDERFUL TERRIFIC!

Announcers are going to love this kid. They won't even have to use the stunning wit that came up with "Minor is Major!"

Why the hell does a 2 star have offers from OSU, Bama, Fla, FSU? Whats wrong with this picture?
October 7th, 2010 at 1:44 PM ^
He only has an offer from Kansas
October 7th, 2010 at 1:58 PM ^
Kansas.
Maybe he's trying to drum up interest in himself.
Hey, if I was being recruited, I would also fill out my Rivals profile with items such as, "Being recruited by: Florida, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon." And maybe leave out, "Offers: Kansas, Eastern Michigan, BGSU"
October 7th, 2010 at 1:47 PM ^
because we're already offering a scholly to his cousin, Columbian Awesome Monds.

WM III was born in 1973 and apparently played at Tenn State before being drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 1993. http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Wonderful_Monds
It's all quite confusing.
The original WM was given his name because he was the first son born after several daughters. The proud papa declared that it was "Wonderful, terrific."

Thanks for the info and congratulations on the largest subject line ever.
October 7th, 2010 at 2:41 PM ^
I tried to edit it twice. It looks right when I edit (as it did when I first wrote it). Then it saves to what we have here.
Computers and I have a long-standing love-hate relationship, heavy on the hate.

I just enjoyed seeing the subject engulf your points and the voting arrows. I'm glad the edit didn't work because you don't see a subject line that big everyday.

I saw the title of this thread, and was about to chirp up proudly that I remembered his dad, Wonderful Monds, who was really a very good player in the old Big 8 Conference. (I was sort of thinking that he had played for Oklahoma; I'd have probably fact-checked myself before posting.)
Turns out that the Wonderful Monds whom I recalled is the grandfather. Sheesh.
October 7th, 2010 at 2:27 PM ^
Let's snag him and convert him to another wonderful teriffic OG!

That actually has some rhythm to it, though. I've always thought that was a sweet name. I wouldn't name one of my kids that, but it's still sweet.
