The OT police is gonna come getcha.
Also, it's not as big of an upset as App State and with the number of big games yesterday, you can't really expect it to be the number one story. That said, the lack of coverage after last week's sloppy, sloppy slobberfest over VA Tech/Boise State is annoying.

thought it was kinda on topic though; indirectly referencing our game.

Eh, I never really care about that kind of stuff. But some people really do think it needs to be titled as such.

The Horror was one of the first big time programs to lose to a FCS team. Since then it seems every year a few teams lose to FCS teams.

Actually, I think VaTech-JMU is only the second time it's ever happened.

what you consider to be big time programs. After yesterday, five FCS teams have defeated FBS teams just this season. I guess Va Tech is the second biggest name to fall and if you don't consider Minnesota and Kansas big time programs then i guess you are right.

I beg to differ...I think it is a bigger upset. That App State was way better then JM. VT was ranked close to where we were (my memory says 5) but at home to a way inferior opponent is at least equally embarressing.

appy st would have easily been ranked in the top 40 of all schools when they beat UM. it only gained huge nat'l attention because they beat UM. if appy beat a #5 Va Tech team, coverage would have been much much less. just like the JMU game this weekend.

For purposes of quality/ranking/etc, you are probably right. Sports media, however, has grown desensitized from all of the FCS teams beating FBS teams. If this happened four years ago before the 2007 season, I think the noise would be incredibly loud.

If Va Tech would have beaten Boise St. the other night, then there probably would have been a lot of hoopla over their loss.
September 12th, 2010 at 12:49 PM ^
This is the second time a ranked FBS school lost to an FCS program. In both cases, the FCS teams were one of the best in their subdivision.

I thought South Dakota and North Dakota were both part of FCS and i know one of them beat Kansas and the other beat Minnesota yesterday.
September 12th, 2010 at 1:02 PM ^
and the 88 people in North & South Dakota were the only ones who cared

emphasis mine

I agree with BlueVoix. I saw more coverage of the Minnesota loss to "Another Dakota team" than coverage of the VT loss.
ESPN doesn't want to soil the BCS Busters trend as it accounts for 25% of their CFB debate topics.

where is all the hullaballoo about JMUs defeat of Va Tech. Why isn't that all over ESPN etc for being the biggest upset ever???
Because when it really comes down to nuts and bolts, Michigan ends up being a hell of a lot more relevant than a podunk bunch of pretenders that tries and repeatedly fails to accomplish something on a national scene, located in an Appalachian backwater that nobody ever visits.
September 12th, 2010 at 1:29 PM ^
But tell us how you really feel.
September 12th, 2010 at 4:50 PM ^
This year there have already been a number of FCS teams beating FBS teams. The more it happens the less the App State game gets talked about, and that's fine with me.
September 12th, 2010 at 5:12 PM ^
It's happened before
ECU beat VT too although that was away from home
I've already moved on and still stupidly believe this team might actually compete for an ACC title. The entire ACC is crap. No one is impressive so far. Clemson, sure, but they haven't played anyone.
