OT: And so the unsportsmanlike conduct BS begins...
Anyone catch that unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Marshall player who sacked Pryor a few minutes ago? Unbeleivable. Guy makes a play, gets up and celebrates a little, away from the player he made the play against, boom flagged,15 yards. Ridiculous.
Basically, this celebration by Graham is now considered unsportsmanlike conduct. Bullshit.

If they flag that they should flag CBs for getting in the face of the WR everytime the QB overthrows and the CB just happens to be within 5 yards of the play.
I could do without that.

Disagrees with you, dosleches.

It's only a penalty if it's against a Pryor or a Tebow. But not if Tebow does his warhoop, champion of the world celebration after an 8-yard run.

You're basically right. I'm watching the Utah game and the Ute defensive lineman celebrated a sack, quite obviously I might add, with no flag. I'm glad he didn't get flagged, but college football can be retarded when it comes to celebrations.

It all seems so stupid, I don't get why players celebrating is in anyway a problem.

That was a terrible call. I thought the exact same thing. It wasn't over the top at all.

1. i thought it was a little excessive (particularly when you're down 2 touchdowns).
2. i'm not sure that the flag was for the celebration...the refs called it on #18. the sack was by #99. i could certainly be wrong, however.
September 2nd, 2010 at 9:08 PM ^
You are correct. The penalty was away from the sack on a different player. Not sure what exactly it entailed, but the celebration by #99 wasn't the flag.
September 2nd, 2010 at 9:11 PM ^
Number 18 (a DB) was literally 30 yards away from the play. The ref was looking straight at 99 when he pulled the flag. Calling the wrong number is just one gaffe on top of another.
Maybe the celebration was in poor taste, if you say so, but that ain't unsportsmanlike conduct friend. I can't argue with your opinion on something that is 100% subjective. However, the rule says nothing about how close the game should be when you're celebrating.

flag on #99
9+9
flag on #18

I for one want to see some old school, da U style celebrating. This is a contact sport, not tennis let 'em go!
September 2nd, 2010 at 8:56 PM ^
... about Marshall or OSU, or anything in that state (except the guy with the Michigan plate who has excess club level seats, I care about him) but thanks for posting that play. That made me happy.
September 2nd, 2010 at 9:10 PM ^
I know--I loved this play so well. You can practically hear Graham saying "This one's for the Michigan State hockey team!"
September 2nd, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
That is exactly what I heard.

It's like Adam Carolla's new book title: "In Fifty Years, We'll all be Chicks"
What do they expect them to do, make a savage hit on somebody and sit down to drink tea?
I fail to see what's so wrong with celebrating a big play.
September 2nd, 2010 at 9:26 PM ^
That one was a joke. If a guy's taunting an opponent, OK, flag him. But looking at the crowd?
September 2nd, 2010 at 9:28 PM ^
call was justified, the guy ran across the field celebrating by himself.
September 2nd, 2010 at 9:50 PM ^
Is this the "If Armando Allen is going to get pinged against Michigan, everyone else better get flagged" argument? :)

Listen, you can't hit a 2-time Heisman trophy winner like Pryor...wait, wait he HASN'T won the past two Heismans? But based on the preseason buzz and his "dismantling" of Oregon in the Rose Bowl, I just presumed that he was the greatest college player of all time and thus should be treated differently. Huh. And what is this game with all the guys tackling each other called? Football! Man, this televsion really does play tricks on people.

Compaining about all the Pryor hype is growing tiresome. He was a big-time recruit a couple years ago, and he's finally an upperclassman. It's only natural to have high expectations for him, and he's certainly shown flashes of brilliance...
