Gridiron Kings 7on7 Wrapup: Dee Hart "Awesome, Impressive"
As noted in this post from yesterday, Dee Hart's Southeast team tore up the Champion Gridiron Kings 7on7 tournament at the ESPN RISE Games at Walt Disney World on Sunday, July 25. Along with Dr. Phillips HS teammate Ha'sean Clinton-Dix, he was named to the 2010 EAS All Performance team.
Here's the wrapup from ESPN's Jamie Newberg:
"Man, this is one of the best feelings I have ever had coming off a football field," [Southeast QB and Clemson commit Tony] McNeal said. "I obviously had a great group of guys to work with. I know I was a little shaky at first but I settled down. I just had to get used to the speed of the game. It also helped that I had some great guys to throw to and when I got in trouble I just had to find the tight end [Nick O'Leary (West Palm Beach, Fla.)] and the running back [Demetrius Hart (Orlando, Fla.)]. Those guys were awesome."
Awesome would be the appropriate word to describe the play of both Hart and especially O'Leary. Simply put [O'Leary] was unstoppable, running wild in the secondary and catching just about everything coming in his direction. When the Southeast needed a first down, a touchdown or a conversion, he made the play. In the end, O'Leary was voted the Gridiron King offensive MVP in a cakewalk. He was that dominant.
Hart, a small and compact running back who is ultraquick and explosive, was impressive in each game for the Southeast. He made a ton of big plays and some great catches.
"It was a couple of great days," Hart said. "I think the key was that we, as a team, bonded early. I was just happy I got to contribute the way I did."
And here's the story from Joe Williams of the Orlando Sentinel:
If the ESPN RISE Champion Gridiron Kings 7-on-7 tournament showed anything Sunday, it is that the Southeast may have some of the best high school football in the country and that Dr. Phillips' do-everything back Dee Hart and linebacker Ha'sean Clinton-Dix both can be explosive players..[and] both had spotlight moments in the title game.
Dix intercepted two passes, returning one 103 yards for a touchdown, and the other 67 yards. Hart, who earlier in pool play had nine receptions in one game for 99 yards and six receptions for 91 yards in another, had a 15-yard touchdown reception in the championship game.
Here's Luke Stampini's (soflafootball.com) evaluation of Hart:
Running back Dee Hart (Dr. Phillips) excels catching the ball out of the backfield and has some shake to him with the ball in his hands. I can see him being very versatile running back lining up both in the backfield and in the slot at the next level.
And yes, the Bama blogs are watching this as well.
FSU commit Karlos Williams -- who recently talked to Sam Webb about his recruiting and the possibility of a joint visit to Michigan with Dee Hart and HaHa Clinton-Dix (H/T DGDestroys) -- was named the defensive MVP of the tournament.
The Southeast defense had 12 interceptions, including three by the Gridiron King defensive MVP Karlos Williams (Davenport, Fla./Davenport). Williams had a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Southwest in the final.
great update. doesn't seem like we need to get our hopes up at all with fsu commit karlos williams. even if he does visit, it sounds like playing with his brother is the deciding factor.
...with your evaluation of Williams, but I think it's intriguing that Clinton-Dix (Bama commit) is said to be planning to join Hart on a Michigan visit (presumably the UConn game weekend).
They've often talked about playing together, so that may still be a factor that's in play with both of them. It could lead to a Clinton-Hix Bama decommit/U-M commit or to an unexpected Hart Bama commit (even given Hart's recent 75/25 U-M/Bama comment).

...on that sentence's first clause if it makes you feel any better.
Can't wait to see what he can accomplish in his final year of high school.
Love to see that mega visit happen and see us be undefeated when it happens!

Since it sounds like they're coming for the UConn game, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say we're DEFINITELY going to be undefeated.
I've never heard of the NCAA making a team start the season 0-1
I thought they were visiting for the Michigan State game?
Dee is taking an unofficial for the UCONN game, and an official for MSU/Iowa with the other Florida kids, I believe.
The NCAA is still considering whether to add to our self-imposed sanctions. Don't give them any ideas...
If we could swing HaHa from Bama, do we still take Avery Walls???
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think you have to make room for someone like Walls. Top prospect as well as recruiting others to Michigan.
Yeah, I think you take both of those guys. HaHa is more of a SS (or Spur/Bandit) type guy, and Walls is a FS. You take Walls, especially because we need a FS more than another SS (but you take HaHa if he wants to come).

Dix coming with Hart might not necessarily be a good thing. He could be coming to disuade Hart while he is on his visit.
Yeahhhhh.........no.
He could say things like, "Gee, the facilities at Michigan aren't all that great. And that stadium doesn't seem all that big to me. Plus, the academics aren't all that good. Michigan's helmets may have wings, but I heard you can't really fly with 'em..."
Those arguments will turn Dee to 'Bama for sure!

Or he could always just say "Michigan sucks, and went 8-16 since 08. (3-13 in conference).". I think its hilarious that you all think Michigan is even capable of recruiting truly elite talent. Dix is already a bama commit and O'leary is a heavy bama lean....... and those were the top 2 performers in the 7 on 7. not hart

by the way, this is a direct quote from Clinton-Dix, ""I gotta get Dee Hart over there," Clinton-Dix said. "It's amazing up there." (ALABAMA). You may have just cause to worry
He is now the #121 player in the espnu 150 http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=78852&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncf%2frecruiting%2ftracker%2fplayer%3frecruitId%3d78852

oh, thank you. i guess i assumed that they havent updated their rankings.
FYI, HaSean Clinton-Dix has more interest in Umich than most would think. I know this personally from HaHa himself on Dee Hart's Facebook page. I jokingly told him to shock the world and Go Blue and he replied, "lol, it's still early, it might just happen." If RR can lock up Dee Hart early this season, look for the King to work his magic on HaHa! Go Blue!
And Ricardo will be in his ear as well.
And this has proven numerous times to be a powerful tool. Do your thang Ricardo.
Ricardo Miller could go his entire career at Michigan without touching the football and it would be worth the scholarship.
I'm going to selectively read portions of your post ("I know this personally from HaHa himself") while ignoring others ("on Dee Hart's Facebook page") to conclude that this is very good, non-creepy news.
