The Herd has UM as a 9 win team
Love him or hate him, Colin Cowherd is usually fairly decent when it comes to college football predictions (or so it seems that way). He has 4 teams he feels that Vegas got wrong on the projected win totals. One of them is UM. Vegas has UM at 7 and the Herd has them at 9... take it for what it's worth...
Cowherd sucks. He talks to talk. He brings little substance to anything he talks about (See James, LeBron).
That said, I do always appreciate when we get some MSM Love... even if I hate the source
He says that out of one corner of his mouth, then spits off in absolutes for 2 hours from the other corner of his mouth.
He's a Jackhole, and his TV show is terrible. I wish ESPN would stop trying to cram it down people's throats.
EDIT: Incoming neg bang because I spoke bad about the Pied Piper of sports talk radio.
I watch SportsNation for the Beadle.
I apologize for my ignorance, but what does MSM stand for?
Main Stream Media
michelle beadle, yes have some.
Keymaster of Gozer
Then all prisoners will be released.
You will perish in flame!
brought a cougar to a party.
For me, easily top 3 movie of all time.
Or Madonna
...would be just fine.
I know I am waaaaaay late to the party, but that is my favorite line from that Ghostbusters. Close second:
Man at elevator: "That must be some cockroach."
Venkman: "It'll bite your head off man."
knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day, I can tell you.
Cowherd is an idiot but I think Rome is even worse. Having said that, YOU DA MAN HERD! Best radio talk show host ever. Period. Wait...
Thank You I hate Jim Rome. He is like the Bill O Reilly of ESPN.
... until he had Drew Sharp on his show as a credible UM analyst.
It is as if he just wants to start arguments though. He doesnt care what anyone says; he just wants to argue and get his point across
"the State of Florida has no income tax, so you can go there and make more money!"
I am one of the few people that like Cowherd. I understand why people don't like him but to me, he is the ultimate realist. He calls it like he sees it. Hopefully, he's right this time.
I usually enjoy listening to Cowherd too. However, once I was driving through the mountains in the middle of nowhere and the radio station was cutting in and out...everytime that I got good reception he was talking about Peanut Butter no longer being a condiment, having graduated to become its own food. Seriously...apparently he talked about this for an hour and a half straight, unless he switched topics by coincidence when the reception was poor.
for an hour and a half.
that didn't seem to match up
He Herd too much of him.
That is definitely the one thing I hate about him. He can get on some crazy tangents. Some are funny (I particularly love the ones about the "joy" that is being in a relationship) but most are not and he can stay on those crazy tangents for a long time.
Influential people who think solely in black and white terms are harmful to everything they discuss by encouraging polarization and impeding progress to the best or most correct solution. The world has enough of these already, influential or not. Reinforcing that style of thinking to anyone is D-U-M-B.
over and over and over and over.........
It makes my ears bleed.
Every once in a while a blind squirrel finds a nut, and he is absoluely bang on with this one!!
He's always been a hater when it comes to UM and the Big Ten. So I will give him props for being man enough to talk up UM.
He was down on us when Carr was here. He hated Carr's risk-averse philosophy. He's actually been fairly pro-RR.
He's only doing this in the hopes that in January he can drone on for weeks about how overrated we were.
He picked Michigan to win nine games. I'm not sure how he could drone on about us being overrated if we lose less than Vegas' predicted number of seven. He would also be very wrong if this happened, so his prediction would be way off, therefore leaving him looking like an idiot. He would have been the one that overrated us. If we did win nine or ten games, then he could drone on about how he is so awesome for predicting Michigan to win nine games when nobody else was.
You're putting way too much thought into this, lol.
I love the dichotomy between this prediction thread and the previous Michigan State prediction thread. Cowherd rulez, CFN sucks. As if their analysis is any better, on either side, than me throwing at a dartboard when predicting the 2010 college football season.
Every time I see a new "[media person X] has predicted UM/ND/MSU to win [N] games" board topic, I just have to click it. I don't know why. I already know how the comments within read. I think Brian is screwing with us and just copies and pastes one of four boilerplate threads in for each of these topics, depending on team and predicted number of wins.
What would this board be without the daily "I hate this guy" threads that seem to fuel Michigan fans.
Cowherd has NEVER been wrong about Michigan. He said they were declining and over rated under Carr. CHECK. He said Michigan fans email you 3000 times when you say something "bad" about Michigan--then disappear when Michigan takes the pipe against OSU, USC, or bombs in some game they shouldn't. CHECK.
He said Michigan has always been a tremendous program with tremendous potential, and as soon as Michigan hired a "real" coach (or at least one not years past his prime), OSU and all others should beware. Um, that's kind of the feeling on these Rodriguez Groupies boards, idn't it?
He has consistently said Michigan WILL get it together under Rodriguez (and if not, some other guy)--that the future is so bright we need sunglasses.
What has he ever said that people here should be attacking him for?
Oh, I know. We're Michigan Message Board Guy. We know more than, well, just about anyone who doesn't read MgoBlog or Scout 24 hours a day.
Damn you Cowher, DAMN YOU TO HELL! How DARE you have a national focus and call a spade a spade!
Cowherd annoys me because he insists on using Rush Limbaugh's cadence. (The angry voice, and then the long pauses that make it seem like he kind of expects his listeners -- invisible to him and, more importantly, un-miked -- to answer his rhetorical questions). And if Colin Coherd is Rush Limbaugh, Paul Myerberg, over at the geekily obsessive "Pre-Snap Read" blog, is Linda Werthheimer. Myerberg is running his annual team-a-day FBS preview. Today, Michigan clocks in at number 37.
This means two things, I think. The first, reading a bit between the lines, is that he's predicting around 7 wins. The second is that we're about 37 dog-days away from getting this season underway.
Myerberg gives plenty of love to MGoBlog, and has a far longer write-up than most previewers bother. Not that he says anything that you can't get here, but it's worth checking it out, nonetheless: http://www.presnapread.com/no-37-michigan/
I too have been very impressed with the pre-snap analysis. The stuff he says about Michigan (and just about every team I have read) is thoughtful, realistic, and well-informed.
Everytime he says a word with an "s" it sounds like "sh." Bothers me.
Sho, I take it you're not a big Sean Connery fan.
For shame
No shir, Sean Connery is dreamy. His Scottish Accent mixed with the "sh" ing makes it wonderful.
Alex Trebek begs to differ.
That'sh not what your mother shaid lasht night!
SHUCK IT TREBEK!
I'll take anal bum coversh for 500
I'll take Jap anush relationsh for 200
That's "s" Words Mr. Connery
Connery: Moo!
Trebek: No
Connery: Well thatsh the shound your mother made lasht night
Trebek: Good God people! we would've accepted bow-wow, or ruff!
Connery: Ahh rough, jusht the way your mother likesh it Trebek!
I don't listen to Cowherd very much. In fact, I don't listen to ESPN radio much since Eric Kuselias stopped doing the afternoon drive (why, Eric? Why?!?!!?!?). But I did pick up one thing about Cowherd. He loves RR.
Say what you want about Cowherd but at least he forms an opinion and sticks with it. He doesn't flip flop on issues and tells it like it is. You don't have to agree with everything he says but I do respect someone that takes a stance on an issue and doesn't walk the fence.
I am still waiting for UCONN to join the Big 10.
