He led Warren G. Harding to their first state championship as well.
congrats
Hooray speed!
I know he hasn't committed, but worth noting that Anthony Zettel won the shot put title as well.
His shot-out throw yesterday was the best across the board for all four LP state meets.
...Here are the results of the MI Div 2 Shot Put Finals:
- Anthony Zettel, Ogemaw Heights, 58-3 3/4
- John Kamps, Zeeland East, 56-7 1/4
- Derek Seivers, Byron Center, 53-2 1/2
- DeAngelo Glaze, Ferndale, 51-7
- Riley Norman, Cadillac, 51-5
- Cole Walderzak, Standish-Sterling, 51-0 1/2
- Jalen Schlachter, Corunna, 50-8 1/2
- Evan Schumann, Grant, 50-6
He also placed third in discus:
- Derek Seivers, Byron Center, 177-6

- Josh Stokes, Linden, 147-9
- Jacob Medendorp, Zeeland East, 146-1
that's two state championships in the 100 for him, and to add another one in the 200 (on a wet track) is quite an accomplishment
and it cant hurt to add that track speed to the UM recieving corps
could just make it into UM, we would have a triumvirate of ridculously fast players: Denard, D.J. and Demar (is there something about the letter 'D' that increases speed?). Remember, it was considered an "upset" when Denard beat Demar in the 100 meter a few years ago.
Even without Demar, the offense will have two VERY fast skill players in Denard and D.J. I'm looking forward to seeing that speed unleashed on UM's foes in the near future.
if i remember correctly he ran the fastest 40 time on the team with something like a 4.35
And Michael Shaw. Wasn't he a nationally ranked sprinter?
he was riciulously good at the 400m (46.4) and was better than DJ at the 200m (21.19)
some other noted speedsters on the offense:
Je'Ron Stokes - runs hurdles for UM (this has been mentioned in the past)
Jeremy Gallon - has run a 4.38 forty
Vincent Smith - a reported (but questioned) 4.3 range forty
Fitz Toussaint - 10.56 100m, 21.79 200m
EDIT: it is to be noted that there is a difference between the initial burst of quickness (Gallon, Smith) and those with top end speed (DJ, Shaw)
Je'Ron is a good addition, but if you bring Vincent Smith into this category, you might as well bring in every position player on offense and defense. Another person that should be mentioned though is TRob. He ran a number of 10.8-ish 100m's in HS and low 40 times.
sprinting to the other side of the field at the end of the quarter, whoop!
Reported 40 YD Dash Times:
2008 profile Michael Shaw(RB)- 4.45
2008 profile Terrence Robinson(RB)-4.33
2009 profile Denard Robinson(QB)-4.40
2009 profile JeRon Stokes(WR)-4.45
2010 profile DeMar Dorsey(CB/S)-4.35
2010 profile Josh Furman(S/LB)-4.36
2010 profile RAy Vinopal(S/LB)-4.42
common theme here......Team Speed
I am very excited to see how the season unfolds for us this year.
Michael Shaw was the National Champion in the 200m - this kid's speed gets overlooked often, but he's really, really fast as well.
Also, the reason most people think DJ won the 100m title last year was because a kid named Toussaint was injured and didn't run at state. He was the favorite.
Needless to say, we've got some speed on offense, that's for sure.
Don't forget about about #22.
dynasty sign at the end of the 100?
This was a discussion i brought up a while back..I believe we have more speed than alot of fans think..heres that post with alot of track information.

Edit: sorry i wasnt sure how to post the thread..Here is what it had
I was introduced to the website www.milesplit.com from a track buddy. On the website, you can type in any person that has run track in high school, and check out some of there personal bests times and what not. Not all meets and invitationals are in the website, therefore some may have personal bests that are better than the ones posted. But anyways, to save you guys some time, here are some players and their times and distances.
Demar Dorsey: 100m Dash = 10.53, 200m Dash = 21.48, Long Jump = 21-4.25 ft.
Josh Furman: 100m Dash = 11.02, 200m Dash = 23.16
Antonio Kinard: Long Jump = 21-0 ft.
Ricardo Miller: 100m Dash = 12.05, 200m Dash = 23.37, 400m Dash = 53.63 (These stats are all from 2008 while he was at Florida)
Jordan Paskorz: Shot Put = 50-3.75 ft.
Marvin Robinson: Long Jump = 22-8 ft., Triple Jump = 44-5 ft. (all from 2007, freshman year?)
Terrance Talbott: 100m Dash = 11.57, Long Jump = 22-0.75 ft.
D.J. Williamson: 100m Dash = 10.66, 200m Dash = 21.64
Some Current Players:
Jeremy Gallon: 100m Dash = 11.06, 200m Dash = 23.33
Denard Robinson: 100m Dash = 10.44, 200m Dash = 21.89, Long Jump = 20-5.5 ft.
Fitzgerald Toussaint: 100m Dash = 10.74, 200m Dash = 22.65
Darryl Stonum: 200m Dash = 21.62
Terrence Robinson: 100m Dash = 10.78, 200m Dash = 21.87
those are a lot of fast dudes
...about the meet from the Youngstown News.
At the center of the state, at the center of the track, at the center of the podium, Warren Harding senior DeAver Williamson took the Division I championship trophy on Saturday evening and held it aloft for all to see.
His Raiders are the center of Ohio’s track and field universe.
Thanks to two individual state titles from the Michigan football recruit, Harding won its first state track title in history with a 47-44 victory over Trotwood Madison at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
“To do this, and to run with this group of guys, it means a lot,” said Williamson. “I can’t put this into words.”
Williamson repeated as the 100-meter dash state champion and added a 200 title out of Lane 8 to help Harding win the crown on what was probably only a B-plus performance from the Raiders this weekend.
What another great addition of speed. We are stacked at every skill position on offense now with guys that have tremendous speed. Just think of Je'Ron Stokes, Darryl Stonum, and D.J. Williamson on the outside with Martavious Odoms, Jeremy Gallon, and Terence Ronbinson on the inside.
Just gives me the feeling that something special is brewing....
