This list has quite a few great looking prospects, although I might rearrange the importance of some.
*This has the tag like it's supposed to be premium content but I was able to view it and I'm not a premium member.
is zettel wearing a bluetooth ear piece or a hearing aid? i hope it's a hearing aid. otherwise, he might be one of those guys that calls his girlfriend "babe" incessantly.
I always thought that it was his mouthguard but I'm totally sure.
I'm pretty sure it's a mouth guard. I would wear mine like that too when I was at camps where we didn't wear a helmet, or had drills where we didn't wear a helmet.
Also, I would have liked to see AJ Jordan on the list, but I guess he's not at a position of major need and there were 2 WR's on there. I really like that 5 of the 16 are OL's.
Definitely a mouthguard.
Them all...
Agreed though, maybe some rearranging. I do pretty much agree w/ the top 5. Personally I'd like to grab Watkins or Arnett right after that top 5. But other than that, I think mostly all of these kids are of some top priority.
I was sure there would be a DePriest sighting. Otherwise, it is quite the impressive list even if its stacked with some longshots.
I thought that I just read somewhere on this board that he cut his list down to three and we weren't on it.
I remember hearing that he is childhood friends with Braxton Miller. That might be a factor is him recruitment.
DePriest is down to OSU, Alabama, and Florida.
I thought we might have had a shot.
Landing Zettel, Hart and Frost would be huge pickups.
Is the Sweet 16 a list of porspects that we have a legitimate chance landing? It seems like most of those guys have expressed some interest at some point. If that is the case that might be reason why Trey Depreist is not on that list.
Yes. It always takes into account whether we have a legitimate shot of getting the guy.
Where would Giorgio Newberry rank on your list?
Based on our chances of getting him, he'd be near the bottom. Maybe #15 or #16. He's definitely a good player, but I think he'll stay in the south. Personally, I think he's a LT, even though he's listed as a DE.
Magnus,
There are only a couple of Florida kids on that list. Is it a light year for the state or does the Florida state talent not meet Michigan's needs?
Thanks!
We've offered 34 or 35 guys from Florida. They definitely have talent again this year. I think there are Florida kids who meet our needs. But it's a heavily recruited state, so we're going to be in a dogfight for most of those Florida kids. And unless we start winning, it's going to be harder and harder to convince kids to come to the cold weather.
Rodriguez has done a great job of recruiting Florida, and I don't think that will stop. But even in 2010, we only got < 7% of the kids we offered in Florida. Having four kids interested in Michigan is about where I'd expect that list to be.
Trey DePriest isn't on the list because we are not in his final three.
I think I would poop my pants if we got all those guys! I would definitely like to put Newberry on the list as the highest priority DE. He looks like a freak!
He is also versatile enough to play OT as well.
I like how many offensive lineman are on their. If we can land those guys I would be very, very happy.
I am simply amazed. When we start winning we are going to get the best of the best year in and year out. I can't believe what a tremendous job this staff is doing on the recruiting trail after our tough luck on the field. They can recruit as well as anybody.
If Michigan lands the first four on the list I will be very happy.
Yes, those top 4 all call M their favorite (or co-favorite, in Andre Y's case) and if we could land all four of them we would be looking at a very strong class. Throw in numbers 5 and 6 and we would have almost all of our needs met.
That last name is crazy. Andre 2011? Andre the Giant?
I figured he will stay in-state. Still, that is an impressive list. I especially like those first four guys.
Yea I was a little surprised about Jernigan myself. I was under the impression that we don't have much of a chance with him. Same thing for Curtis Grant.
