Rivals 100 up
rivals 100 is up
http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/rankings…
Kris frost 27th
Dee hart 34th
Zettel 58th
Hayes is 75th
Andre Yruretagoyena 81st
Depriest is 93rd (i was surprised he was so low)
I agree about where we are recruiting him, but it has been said recently he may prefer playing on the defensive side of the ball. The good thing with RichRod and his staff are that they don't make promises, but tell recruits that they will give them a shot at multiple positions and then put them where they can succeed.

Couldn't believe how far he fell- got to think he'll pop back up once the season starts.
Really strong top 100 for UM overall.
pretty well represented at the top end with 4 in the first 20. Lordy.
Four prospects in the top 100. That is pretty impressive as well.
#4 WR George Farmer
#8 LB Curtis Grant
#13 RB Mike Bellamy
#15 DE Ray Drew
#19 OL Greg Robinson
is from california, curtis grant from virginia, and mike bellamy from florida
George Farmer is from Gardena, CA.
have you ever seen the Rivals 100......on weed?
State of Louisiana, not the metro Los Angeles region. Just a comment on the relatively small population of that state and the level and quantity (per capita) of major HS football talent it often produces.
recruiting advantage in the nation. They are the only teams of note (I don't count Cincinnati as they have no history and only recently got "promoted" to the BCS level) in their talent rich states.
Obviously, Texas, Florida and California produce a greater number of big time recruits but there are multiple BCS schools in each of those states to divide the talent among. LSU and OSU have NO in state competition for their elite recruits.
Texas doesn't typically go around "dividing" their state's talent to other schools.
don't know what the fuck I read....I thought you were referring to the fact that we had 4 offers to recruits in the top 20 of the Rivals100. My bad.
If we end up getting 4 or 5 of those guys on that list, which I think would be realistic, we should be in for another solid recruiting class. Not an easy task and only makes me all the more optimistic for the things to come once we start winning again.
The scary thing with this, however, is that even if we get 4 or 5 verbals from these lists, it might not result in a damn thing if we don't win this year. Any of these kids can jump ship if Brandon get rid of RichRod. We have to win now in order to ensure stability for the future with regards to recruiting.
7-8 wins will make it realistic.
9-10 wins will make it reality.
And what happens when we find out Woodson, Graham, Henne, Branch, Long, Edwards, Harris, Hall, Hart, and Manningham all have a double-secret year of NCAA eligibility left and we go 13-0 on route to a NC?
Profit.
Mom and dad went to Georgia. (Dad played football for the Dawgs.) Grandfather is semi-retired, spends a lot of time on golf courses and played a little football for the Upper Arlington (Columbus, OH) Golden Bears in the 1950's.
By all accounts O'Leary is a very fine, very polished player. Still it is hard to imagine that the family story isn't worth about 60 places in the Rivals Top 100. A story like that is great for Rivals, isn't it? (Can it be? Is Nick O'Leary the only Rivals T-100 player without a personal mixtape vid on YouTube?)
Considering Michigan has often made their money on the 101-250 type players, the fact that we have so many targets in the top 100 is a great thing. Last year, CC was our only Rivals100 guy, and he was #99, but we still had a solid class. This year's class will be a lot smaller, but if we can get 3-5 Rivals100 guys, that would be a big deal. I'd say it's likely that Rock, Conway and Beyer (and possibly Hollowell) end up in the Rivals250.
Not only has Michigan done this, but RichRod and this coaching staff have also built winners with a majority of their talent from outside of the top 100, and even top 250.
but Michigan desperately needs LBs and getting Kris Frost would be awesome
Any chance RR takes both Hayes and Hart?
Am I right to think RR is slow playing Hayes while he waits for Hart?
U of M is a "sinking ship"
It would be a shame if Frost didn't commit....especially because he hasn't visited solely because of financial issues. You wonder if he'd made it to the BBQ if he would have committed by now. Sounds like a good kid though he'll make the right decision.
He's already scheduled his UM official, FWIW.
I figured he would visit eventually.....I was just hoping he wasn't reeled in somewhere else first.
he and marquise williams (QB from NC) will be at the MSU game i believe. that'll be a game to watch for sure
Frost will be coming up for another game. Williams is trying to come up for another as well.
I guess that's even another reason I hope Michigan puts up fifty on MSU.
Didn't expect to see Dee or Frost that high, but I surely won't complain. Have to be pleased with how this turned out - whatever the worth of these rankings - for M targets. Winning is the key, obviously.
As a Michigan fan who isn't afraid to admit he cares about who MSU recruits (and a Renaissance grad), it is certainly sickening to see LT as a 5* and #11. He and Gholston, along with Norman and Hicks, have the potential to form a very solid defense in the coming years. MSU could do very well if they land Arnett, Hayes, and Grant to go along with LT. Top 20 class.
Bullough and Gainer at LB
Isaiah Lewis DB
Adding Grant would make a very strong foundation, but DL is still thin.
My local HS (3-6 that year) played him his senior year and our O tackle basically owned him all night. That tackle is now playing at Northwood. The only thing I remember him doing is making a nice catch over our 5'9" DB.
Maybe he had an off night, but our HS team wasn't very good and he did almost nothing as I don't recall his name being called once on D.
I was really happy that their are so many Michigan targets in the top 100. Also I'm sure their are a lot more in the 250. If we can land those guys we could have a really good recruiting class.
If we can land those guys we could have a really good recruiting class.
Yet another profound statement from mgovictors23. So you're saying that if we get good players, we'll have a good recruiting class?
Hey, I'm just surprised he didn't say "If we can land those quys we could have a really qood recruitinq class"
I think DePriest's low ranking could have more to do with politics than actual ability. From what I understand, he has tried very hard to distance himself from the recruiting process. Given the fact that he was one of the most highly regarded LB's during his junior season, I think Rivals may be trying to punish him for refusal to attend camps/answer phone calls.
Looks like the ESPN 150 is coming out tomorrow. Generally wackier and even more biased (by who commits to play in their UA Game) than Rivals, IMHE.
Was just looking back at past editions and remembered that they had Junior Hemingway ranked #19 overall! Ten spots in front of Dez Bryant.
these rankings dont mean shit. It doesnt matter how much stars someone gets, people make too big of a deal about this. I mean sure they're nice in the summer when we get bored, but most of the time these rankings are wrong
...and it doesn't matter how much times someone says that rankings don't matter, we're still talking about them
Like Brian has said again and again, "someone forgot to divide."
Do rankings mean everything? No. But have they been a pretty good indicator of future success? Yes.
